FOTD: Cool Eyes, Hot Lips with Urban Decay Naked2, MAC Added Goodness, & NARS Mexican Rose

Hey everybody!

I’m here to show you the look I did for yesterday’s press event (if you missed that one please click here). I promised to show an FOTD with me sporting NARS Mexican Rose, and I wasn’t going back on that!

I’ll list the things I used that’s different from my regular line-up. I tested out quite some products yesterday. There was one major regret, but all the rest turned out fine!

Ellis Faas Skin Veil s103
Ellis Faas Concealer s203
Urban Decay Naked2 (Verve on lid, Suspect to contour, and Snakebite in the outer v)
MAC Added Goodness Fluidline (from Shop MAC, Cook MAC)
NARS Mexican Rose Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil
Tarte Exposed on my cheeks, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess to contour.

Let’s being by my one regret: the Ellis Faas Skin Veil s103 is the closest to my skin tone, but the undertone is so pink that it makes me look like Miss Piggy! I have only worn it once so I can’t comment an awful lot about this foundation. Skin Veil s104 is too dark for me at the moment, but the undertone would allegedly suit me better. Maybe I should mix the two shades and give it another try? Let’s wait till the pain of having worn a mismatching foundation has subsided a bit…

Other than that it was great! I need some more time to play with Naked2 before I can assess it properly, but Verve is a welcome addition in my arsenal because I don’t have many cooler-toned eyeshadows. It doesn’t make me look garish either, so that’s a big plus!

I will also swatch/review MAC Added Goodness soon. It is the most gorgeous gel liner I have seen, but I do wish it were more opaque. There was some building-up to do.

Mexican Rose just lasted and lasted till I struggled hard enough to remove most of it by the end of the day. However, with all the talking, the edges did feather a bit. If you plan to wear it all day when you have to talk a lot, you might want to pay attention to that!

Some more pictures so you can see the whole look better:

That’s probably as close as I can ever do a sexy pout lol

That’s my FOTD for ya! Did you see anything new that you want to have? I toyed with the idea of not showing the shameful mismatching foundation pictures with you, but again this blog is also a way for me to keep track of my progress, so please tolerate the oopsie!

I hope your week is going well! Happy hump day and I will see you around!

The pink undertone is not that noticeable on the pictures. I absolutely love your lips, you wear it very well because you have such full lips! I really like the eyes too, they are subtle so they don’t take away all the attention from the lips. Love the Naked 2 too, but still, Naked 1 is my fav!

  • Naomi Hing

Happy hump day! Loving the Mexican rose!!!!!!!!!

  • Emi at Project Swatch

I don’t see the mismatch, I am entranced by how gorgeous Mexican Rose is!

    well hello Sexy! 😀
i love the clean and sculpted eye look you matched with the mexican rose. brilliant!
    love your pout. :)

  • Joyce

I agree, it’s not bad! Honestly I probably wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out! I hate foundations with pink/ red undertones. Is the lighter shade extremely light?

I really like verve too and am glad it’s in the naked 2 palette – I never thought I’d use the rollergirl palette which had it too. (also had suspect I think!) It looks nice anyway! :)

I like Mexican rose… Actually I really am a fan of the 2nd day stain. And it looks more pink on me than on you! I feel like that pencil is magic or something. Lol

    • Sunny

Thanks, Joyce! I do see the difference, and I’m not a fan! The darker shade (103 is the lightest sample I received) is visibly darker than my skin tone at the moment. I’m sure I’ll be able to use it in summer, but not quite yet now!

You have the Rollergirl palette too? Naked 1 and 2 have 3 shades out of the 4! How do you like Woodstock?

From what I heard Mexican Rose looks different on anyone, though I really haven’t seen one single person on which it doesn’t look good!

  • Lily

I know what you mean about foundations with pink undertones. A huge no-no for me! Love the lips though. Rocking it!!

    • Sunny

Thanks Lily! What I have learnt is foundation with the right undertone doesn’t drop from the sky though. It takes some looking around!

Wow what a beautiful fotd! Mexucan Rose looks gorgeous on your lips.

    • Sunny

Thanks Jacqueline! I’m glad Mexican Rose is not LE, so anyone who is interested can always grab one!

  • Christine Brigid

Like some of the others who commented, in pics the pink undertone is not too bad. I personally think that all foundation with pink undertones should come with a warning label. I don’t know anyone that they look good on. LOVE the lips. So pretty, so perfect for your coloring.

Hey Christine, thanks so much for following me and leaving a comment!

I guess foundations with pinkish undertones would work well for those who have cool skin tones, but unfortunately that is not the case here. The s104 looks OK though. Once I get a bit more tanned I’ll try that out.

I honestly haven’t seen Mexican Rose look bad on anyone! It looks different on everybody, but it always looks good. You should check it out!

I’m going to check your blog out. Again thanks for everything! xx
