I have been a Miss Dior girl for several years now, but my first Dior perfume was actually Dior Addict 2 when I first came to Europe (that’s almost 4 years ago now *gulps*). I never explored too about perfumes in Taiwan, because the heat and humidity make most of them overwhelming. When I sniffed a friend’s Dior Addict 2 here however, I was so sure it was the one. It’s fresh, it’s young, it’s happy. By the time I was done with the bottle however, I had developed a “heavier” taste for perfumes and I moved on.
Remember Daphne and her mysterious post cards from Saint-Tropez? The mystery is finally partially decoded. Dior is launching some new Dior Addict perfumes this summer! You can already see some pictures and a teaser trailer here on Dior’s Facebook page. I have high expectations for the campaign, because personally I think Dior makes the best perfume commercials in the industry (I can’t get enough of the one with Natalie Portman)!
I was asked to choose from Dior Addict Eau Fraîche, Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle, and Dior Addict Eau de Parfum sight unseen. It was probably serendipity that the RIGHT one ended up in my hands. Eau Sensuelle, with its signature color of mauve and signature scent of rose, two of my major obsessions, turned out to be something that I’m, well, addicted to!
Random fact of the day: there are some boxes that I cannot bear to part with, and the box of Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle is one of them. I love how it reflects a rainbow of colors when the light hits. An otherwise unassuming white box really comes into life, and I can look at it basking in the sunlight for a long time!
Once you open the box, a beautiful mauve-tinted bottle awaits you. The shape is simple and unpretentious.
If you have tried anything from the Dior Addict line, the spray works in the same way. There is a dial, and you have to twist it to 1 before you can press on it.
You get a lot of rose in this scent, but definitely not your grandmother’s rose! It still smells young and fresh, but compared with Dior Addict 2 I would say it has more of a twist and seems more grown-up. The base notes are composed of cedar and white musk. They offer a good balance without turning heavy.
It is a natural spray, but it lasts a surprisingly long time on me. With my long mane, some gets on my hair so even by the end of the day, I can still catch a whiff of the fragrance when I turn my head. It is not loud. It won’t turn heads from 20 meters away. It is something someone might notice when walking past by, and I think this is the definition of a successful fragrance.
In her postcard, Daphne says she wears this for her rendez-vous by the port. In my head I imagine a young woman with a silky dress, happy, radiant, and sensual.
Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle will be available on June 20th, along with the Summer Mix collection (see my swatches and reviews here and here). I will keep you guys updated when I receive further information, but for now I want to leave you with the mental image of mauve, rose, silky dress, happiness, and especially the feelings of being young and in love.
Are you a lover of rose? Is Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle something you would like to check out? What do you associate with summer romance?
