This summer, Guerlain teamed up with Emilio Pucci for their Terra Azzurra Collection. Before you blame me for showing you this so late, I have to tell you this collection is of very limited availability in Belgium, and not a single shop carries it in my town!
Are you ready to check out this beauty?
Since it is a special collection, you can see the inside of the box has the Pucci pattern and the color some pieces are based on. I would personally love to wear a dress with this print!
Besides the beautiful print on the inside, the bottle itself is also nothing short of what I would expect from a luxury brand. The cap is made of wood with the Guerlain logo etched on top. Unlike the nail polish caps of some luxury brands, this wooden one is the actual part that you hold on to when you paint your nails. I also find it interesting how the box specifies it’s for hands and feet. I’ve always thought nail polishes could be used on both in any case! I did test it out on both and love this shade both ways, just to be a good beauty blogger!
Riviera is described as a “powerful electric indigo blue with subtly metallic finish.” I would agree on the electric indigo and metallic finish part, but I am not sure it is subtly metallic! From what I can see, depending on the light at least, it could look very metallic!
Because of this metallic nature, the consistency of Riviera leans a little thick. It is still easy enough to maneuver, and the brush strokes can be evened out with two coats. However, when I paint the nails on my right hand (with my clumsy left hand), the brush strokes become ever-so-slightly visible. As you will see in the following swatch photos though, on my left hand you can’t detect brush strokes. Here is the swatch in natural daylight.
The interesting thing about indigo is that it is between blue and purple. When I look at Riviera in different lighting, sometimes it leans more blue and other times more purple. It also has a lot of tiny red and blue shimmer.
In indoor light for example, you see more of the purple coming through.
In direct sunlight, it is very blue and very metallic! If you had any doubts about going somewhere nice and sunny with this shade, this picture should say it all!
This is another color that I wasn’t sure if I could pull off but ended up really loving! I think this shade is rather universally flattering. If you like it should be able to make it work!
Did you get anything from this collection? Have you tried an indigo nail polish? Would you?
