I don’t go for anti-aging products as a rule (yet), but from time to time one strays into my cabinet. I have always been a fan of Caudalie, so when I was running out of eye cream some months ago I thought I’d look into the brand for one. This was recommended to me as something that has a light texture so I speedily went on board!
Caudalie Vinexpert Anti-Ageing Serum Eyes and Lips promises to “visibly firm eyelids and eye/lip contours.” It is supposed to “diminish the appearance of chronic puffiness, wrinkles, and dark circles.”
Right off the bat I’ll tell you the packaging is perfect. It is an airless pump, which means the serum remains fresh and potent when you pump it out of the bottle. You also avoid wasting any product that way. No more opening the bottle up just to fish the last bit out. Score! The pump is also very easy to control. I have never pumped out more than what I need.
The silver bottle does stop you from knowing how much serum there is, but if you flip it to the bottom you can see how far up the pump has gone. That way you can gauge when you have to replace it.
There are clear instructions inside the box, so don’t throw it away! I like the graphs which are easy to follow, though I personally prefer to use my ring fingers when it comes to applying eye cream as opposed to my index and middle fingers (because ring fingers are the weakest, and you don’t risk being too rough with your most delicate skin that way).
The serum doesn’t have a distinct smell and is yellowish in color. The texture, true to its name, is that of a serum. I like how easy it is to pat it in. It is absorbed very fast by the skin, leaving no undesirable sticky residue. Overly-rich eye creams can make my lower eyeliner smudge, but I have never experience such a problem with this one!
Let’s talk about the results. I don’t have chronic puffiness or wrinkles to be spoken of, but I do see a couple of tiny fine lines forming under my right eye (why only my right eye? My dark circle is also heavier on that side). This serum does a good job smoothing everything out a bit without any uncomfortable tight feeling that you can sometimes get (especially from a gel product). I do think continuous use has improved the condition of the skin underneath my eyes a bit, though this is highly unlikely to happen in one day, and it won’t be anything too dramatic. As for reducing dark circles? Sorry but I don’t think mine are diminished. They might look a bit better when the serum is on (because the skin looks smoother in general), but ultimately I don’t think much has changed when it comes to that.
Bottom line: For someone who previously used eye cream just to keep the area around the eyes moisturized, the Caudalie Vinexpert Anti-Ageing Serum Eyes and Lips is one step ahead. It doesn’t do miracles overnight, but with continuous use I do see some improvement!
Here is the ingredient list:
Caudalie Vinexpert Anti-Ageing Serum Eyes and Lips retails for around 32.8 euros in Belgium, but it is possible to find pharmacies that offer a discount.
What is your go-to eye cream? What are your biggest concerns when it comes to the area around your eyes? Have you found a product that helps?
