If you have been following this blog for a while, you will know that I seldom exaggerate. I almost never say anything like “you need this” or “I can’t live without it.” However, I am making an exception for the Dior Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum! It has been something that I use every time I wear makeup since I got it, and I am pretty sure I will repurchase in due course!
(Here’s the ingredient list if anyone needs it)
The Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum is a mascara base that claims to give you “intensely curled, thickened, and lengthened” lashes. Apparently it can also be used as a lash conditioner at night, but I haven’t tested it out that way yet so I can’t testify if my lashes have benefited that way.
The Lash Plumping Serum comes in a white tube, and the serum itself is also white. The wand is rubbery with a pointy tip, and I find it easy to use.
The consistency of the serum is not wet or gloopy. It is white when it first goes on your lashes, but becomes transparent as it dries. You don’t have to wait till it is completely transparent though. I have never had any problems either way.
Here’s my verdict: this serum is fantastic! It pushes my lashes up, holds curls really well, and gives me significantly more volume and length. I usually use one coat of this and one coat of mascara, but the result is seriously more impressive than using two coats of any mascara! The only thing to pay attention to is not to be too greedy. If you pile the serum on and then mascara, it could clump. If you just do one good coat of this and one good coat of mascara, it is not a problem.
This is my lashes after one coat of serum and one coat of Diorshow New Look.
Way more impressive from a different angle (I also coated my bottom lashes with mascara here):
Just the other day I realized my lashes were so long that they were casting shadow on my face under the sun. For someone who is really lacking in the lash department, it was a beautifully triumphant moment!
I do think that with a lash primer like this, the mascaras you use don’t make that much of a difference. I have tried different mascaras on top of this, but basically as long I can use the wand easily, the result is about equally impressive. One funny thing though. If you have read my review for the Diorshow New Look mascara, you might remember my only complaint is it does smudge a little by the end of the day. NOT ON TOP OF THE LASH PLUMPING SERUM IT DOESN’T! I have been enjoying Diorshow New Look thoroughly in combination with the serum. I think the tiny wand is incredibly easy to use on my tiny lashes (especially my bottom lashes), and since the serum prevents it from smudging they make a winning team!
Bottom line: This is pure love! I have tried impressive mascaras, but nothing measures up to this. This gives me unprecedented curls, volume, and length! To be honest I would hate to test new mascaras from now on, because that will have to be done without this primer and I love it SO much!
Have you tried Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum or any other lash primers? Do you have a favorite? What is your winning primer/mascara combination?
