One of the Things that Make Autumn Bearable: Guerlain Gisela Rouge G

I’m going to admit this: I’m not a fan of autumn, or at least not the kind of autumn we’ve been getting here. It seems like a sneaky season that always creeps up on me. One morning you wake up to a lot of rain and that unmistakable chill, and that’s the end of warm weather for quite a while. Makes me a bit weepy just thinking about it…

Instead of wallowing in self-pity, I want to share some of the things make autumn a bit more bearable (or even fun!): the prospect of making wild mushroom soup, baking (pumpkin pie, carrot cake, banana walnut cake are some of the things that will be popping out of my oven soon), snuggly felines (my lap is constantly occupied with one of the fur kids if not both), and what else was I going to say? Oh yeah, meet Guerlain Gisela Rouge G!

I’m not going to bore you too much here, because I reviewed the Rouge G packaging and so on not so long ago (with Gracy here). I know the weight makes them less travel-friendly, but I honestly don’t mind keeping a couple in my purse because the formula hits it out of the park!

Gisela is a rusty, orange-y red with gold shimmer. The formula is in line with what I experienced with Gracy. It’s opaque with one single pass, long-wearing (it lasts 6 hours or so on me), creamy, lightweight, and moisturizing. Despite the fact that it’s a darker color, it is actually very low-maintenance. It doesn’t slide around, feather, or bleed. When it wears off with drinking/eating, it does so evenly so that you are not left with the dreaded awkward rim. The shimmer isn’t so obvious on the lips. I don’t experience any migrating or grittiness either!

Top: built up. Bottom: single pass. There is virtually no difference in terms of color!

If I was not a lipstick girl, Guerlain is definitely making me one. I used to always want to play my eyes up and wear whatever lipstick that doesn’t clash with the eyeshadows. Nowadays for shades that stand out on their own like Gisela, I use minimum eyeshadow and just stronger eyeliner so my lips can do all the talking!

Bottom line: Gisela is the color of fallen leaves, and I think it’s great for autumn and winter. It’s relatively warm, so I think warm-toned beauties will enjoy and get a lot of use out of it! It’s bold, but not so bold that it has to be reserved for nighttime, and don’t get me started (again) about how amazing the formula is!

Have you seen Gisela? What are the autumn-appropriate shades you own? What are some of the things that make autumn a good season for you?

This is a lovely shade, I never liked earthy reds like these till I tried Ellis Faas Glazed Lips in Ellis Red which is a similar shade in a sheerer. lip gloss form.

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Bolder lip shades are trickier to get right, because they’re usually a hit or miss. I’m glad you learnt to like earthy reds!

You are on a guerlain kick lately :D but I love that! I adore Guerlain, nice to see it gains more and more love. The colour suits you perfectly and I knnow those can be tricky (I pull some of them really bad and weird orangey brown). I love the last pic <3

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

I’ve always been on a Guerlain kick LOL. Fell in love with the brand with the first Rouge Automatique I purchased!

Gisela has a bit of brown in it, but not too much for my skin tone. I also have problems wearing lipsticks that have too much brown in, but this one is wow at first sight!

  • http://www.thesmalllittlethingsinlife.blogspot.com Annick

Oh man, this lipstick is stunning! I need it stat! Guerlain is always spot on with their products!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

I agree, Annick! Guerlain makes amazing lipsticks!
