These Will Blow Your Mind: a england (Revamped) Holy Grail & Beauty Never Fails!

You know why you should connect with your favorite brands on as many social channels as possible? Sometimes you get to see cool stuff early! A little while ago I saw this picture (a new tab will open so don’t worry about being navigated away) on a england’s Facebook page, and I flipped! I had not previously bought anything from this fantastic cult brand (though I always wanted to), but the second I saw it I cracked and wrote an order email.

Adina, the genius behind the brand wrote me back in 10 minutes and shipped the parcel the next day. What made the experience even more magical was that merely 4 days later (including the weekend) they landed in my mailbox! Today I’m showing you these two babies, Holy Grail (the revamped version) and Beauty Never Fails!

(Bonus point: these are cruelty-free!)

a england was founded in 2011, and in no time it has taken the world of nail polishes by storm. Adina puts out small, unique, and well-executed collections that exhilarate everyone who appreciates interesting nail polishes. Even though I am not normally big on nail polishes, I have been itching to get some a england for quite a while.

Holy Grail first came out with The Mythicals collection (a england’s first ever), and it is a yellow gold (this shade is still available on the a england site as limited edition). For one reason or another it didn’t sell as well, and instead of scraping it Adina came up with this revamped version and gave it a new life!

The new Holy Grail is a beautiful brassy/bronzy/greenish antique gold. It has a metallic finish and insane amount of fine jewel-toned shimmer. The consistency is on the thick side, though it is easy to work with. The interesting thing about this one is I always think it is going to be impossibly streaky, but it always smooths itself out on my nails. One coat already looks pretty good, but I did two for good measure. Don’t ever mistake it for a Chanel Peridot wannabe either. The two are significantly different!

As you can see, the color shifts a lot depending on the angle and light. For someone who is obsessed with anything antique gold, this really is the Holy Grail!

Beauty Never Fails is another stunner. It is a blackened forest/olive green (depending, again, on the angle and light) infused with golden sparkle and shimmer. Like Holy Grail, the consistency leans thick, but it always levels itself out on my nails. The surface is not 100% smooth, though it is by no means gritty either. After a layer of top coat it is no different from most nail polishes.

Beauty Never Fails looks like an enchanted forest. It’s foreboding, it’s green, and all the golden sparkle just dances and looks as if it were alive. I am very glad I don’t drive a car, because I literally could not stop looking at my nails when I had this shade on. Wherever I went, I had one hand in front of me so I could admire the beauty of this nail polish (kids, don’t try this!). It could look quitedark when there isn’t a lot of light, but you can’t mistake it for a black and all that golden sparkle practically moves in front of your very eyes!

Bottom line: There is something about these two that makes my heart sing, and I am more than happy that I finally laid my hands on my first a england nail polishes. I am sure more and more will find their way into my collection! If you are looking for unique and exquisitely beautiful colors, take a good look at a england!

Have you tried anything from a england? Does any of the two jump out to you? What is your latest nail polish obsession?

  • AstroD

Woo, must have these now! I’m unfamiliar with the brand so it is time for me to put on my investigators hat!

    • Sunny

Yes I agree! They have small collections of fabulous shades. I know I’ll definitely lay my hands on some more!

      • AstroD

Oooh… the names! I love them :D Dorian Gray, Jane Eyre. And Dragon! I don’t think I can wait the deliver time for that to arrive!

  • AstroD

Sunny is Beauty Never Fails at all like Nars Night Porter?

    • Sunny

Hey! I don’t own that one, but from the pictures I could find online, there is way more shimmer in Beauty Never Fails, and the base color is more olive than forest green.

Another similar shade I can think of is OPI Live and Let Die (from the 007 collection). I have the impression the two look rather similar in bottle, but the OPI one is a lot darker on.

      Hope this helps!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

These are totally the kinds of colors I’m feeling lately! They’re beautiful.

    • Sunny

Fall is perfect for darker and metallic shades! Not my favorite season but I am naturally drawn to nail polishes like that :)

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

I have been hearing about this brand a LOT lately–and all the swatches I’ve ever seen are always stunning without fail. I will definitely have to try something!

    • Sunny

I very seldom say anything is a must-have and so on, but I don’t think you’ll regret trying a england! Keep me posted if you get something, Becca!

  • http://memoiselle.com/ Memoiselle

I have heard many people are raving about A-England. I have been wanting to try for but for some reason I always think twice before paying for it. The formula is undoubtedly very good and smooth :) Between these two, I like Beauty Never Fails the Most :) Looks stunning and unique.

    • Sunny

Take it from me: go ahead and pay because you’ll be exhilarated! I’ve seen similar shades to Beauty Never Fails, but for me personally this is THE one. It’s not too dark so you can see it’s green, also the sparkle really dances in the most beautiful way!

  • http://followmarla.blogspot.com/ Marla

Wow those are gorgeous nail polish shades.

    • Sunny

      Give them a try, Marla!
