You know why you should connect with your favorite brands on as many social channels as possible? Sometimes you get to see cool stuff early! A little while ago I saw this picture (a new tab will open so don’t worry about being navigated away) on a england’s Facebook page, and I flipped! I had not previously bought anything from this fantastic cult brand (though I always wanted to), but the second I saw it I cracked and wrote an order email.
Adina, the genius behind the brand wrote me back in 10 minutes and shipped the parcel the next day. What made the experience even more magical was that merely 4 days later (including the weekend) they landed in my mailbox! Today I’m showing you these two babies, Holy Grail (the revamped version) and Beauty Never Fails!
(Bonus point: these are cruelty-free!)
a england was founded in 2011, and in no time it has taken the world of nail polishes by storm. Adina puts out small, unique, and well-executed collections that exhilarate everyone who appreciates interesting nail polishes. Even though I am not normally big on nail polishes, I have been itching to get some a england for quite a while.
Holy Grail first came out with The Mythicals collection (a england’s first ever), and it is a yellow gold (this shade is still available on the a england site as limited edition). For one reason or another it didn’t sell as well, and instead of scraping it Adina came up with this revamped version and gave it a new life!
The new Holy Grail is a beautiful brassy/bronzy/greenish antique gold. It has a metallic finish and insane amount of fine jewel-toned shimmer. The consistency is on the thick side, though it is easy to work with. The interesting thing about this one is I always think it is going to be impossibly streaky, but it always smooths itself out on my nails. One coat already looks pretty good, but I did two for good measure. Don’t ever mistake it for a Chanel Peridot wannabe either. The two are significantly different!
As you can see, the color shifts a lot depending on the angle and light. For someone who is obsessed with anything antique gold, this really is the Holy Grail!
Beauty Never Fails is another stunner. It is a blackened forest/olive green (depending, again, on the angle and light) infused with golden sparkle and shimmer. Like Holy Grail, the consistency leans thick, but it always levels itself out on my nails. The surface is not 100% smooth, though it is by no means gritty either. After a layer of top coat it is no different from most nail polishes.
Beauty Never Fails looks like an enchanted forest. It’s foreboding, it’s green, and all the golden sparkle just dances and looks as if it were alive. I am very glad I don’t drive a car, because I literally could not stop looking at my nails when I had this shade on. Wherever I went, I had one hand in front of me so I could admire the beauty of this nail polish (kids, don’t try this!). It could look quitedark when there isn’t a lot of light, but you can’t mistake it for a black and all that golden sparkle practically moves in front of your very eyes!
Bottom line: There is something about these two that makes my heart sing, and I am more than happy that I finally laid my hands on my first a england nail polishes. I am sure more and more will find their way into my collection! If you are looking for unique and exquisitely beautiful colors, take a good look at a england!
Have you tried anything from a england? Does any of the two jump out to you? What is your latest nail polish obsession?
