I keep thinking this week should officially be known as the red lippie week of Mostly Sunny, because I have another one to show you! This baby is part of the four red lipsticks offered by Dior Grand Bal this holiday season, Diorling Diorific.
Following the retro glam theme, Diorific lipsticks are probably the most appropriate to be included in Dior Grand Bal. The packaging looks a bit like a dumbbell with two round(ish) ends. It’s golden and has a bit of lovely heft. It doesn’t hold fingerprints in the most obvious way, which is a relief!

(Imagine painting your pout with it in public!)
Color-wise, Diorling is a cherry red with a creamy sheen. From how it swatched I thought the texture would be a little dry, but it actually glides on smoothly, has amazing pigmentation, and is, above all, easy to work with. I can live with the fact that bolder shades, especially those with a creamy finish, need a little help to look good. Diorling Diorific however, is in the star category of the ones work well alone. The texture is thick enough to have presence (am I the only one who isn’t crazy about lipsticks with barely-existent textures? Not that I want a thick layer of product on my lips, but I like to feel a little something), but thin enough to wear comfortably.
One pass of this lipstick delivers opaque color, and it doesn’t emphasize or settle into lip lines. What’s more, it doesn’t only go on exceptionally well, it also exists with grace. Diorling wears for about 7 hours on me, and it leaves a stain. It fades beautifully (no migrating out of lip lines, no uneven fading), and it resists to eating. I’m not even talking about finger food either. I have shoved a bowl of noodles down (with chopsticks too!) when I had this lipstick on, and at the end of that it was still there (and not a single trace of it migrated out of my lip lines)!
Most Dior lipsticks are very lightly scented, but this one has a stronger perfume-y smell I guess to go with the retro theme. It reminds me of the ones I smelled in my mom’s stash as a kid (OK, seriously, either this collection just has a very successful retro vibe, or I’m getting a little homesick)!
Bottom line: Whether you will “need” Dior Diorling Diorific Lipstick depends on what your stash of red lipsticks is like, but color- and formula-wise there’s nothing not to love about this one! It goes on more easily than most, wears long and comfortably, is smooth and pretty on, so really, I wouldn’t dissuade those who are interested from purchasing this one!
Have you seen any of the Dior Diorific lipsticks? There are four so there should be something for everyone! What is one lipstick you know you can pig out without having to worry about? Did you play with your mama’s makeup when you were a kid (I am so guilty of that! I ruined many of her lipsticks)?
