Grab Dior Diorling Diorific Lipstick for that Old-School Glam!

I keep thinking this week should officially be known as the red lippie week of Mostly Sunny, because I have another one to show you! This baby is part of the four red lipsticks offered by Dior Grand Bal this holiday season, Diorling Diorific.

Following the retro glam theme, Diorific lipsticks are probably the most appropriate to be included in Dior Grand Bal. The packaging looks a bit like a dumbbell with two round(ish) ends. It’s golden and has a bit of lovely heft. It doesn’t hold fingerprints in the most obvious way, which is a relief!

(Imagine painting your pout with it in public!)

Color-wise, Diorling is a cherry red with a creamy sheen. From how it swatched I thought the texture would be a little dry, but it actually glides on smoothly, has amazing pigmentation, and is, above all, easy to work with. I can live with the fact that bolder shades, especially those with a creamy finish, need a little help to look good. Diorling Diorific however, is in the star category of the ones work well alone. The texture is thick enough to have presence (am I the only one who isn’t crazy about lipsticks with barely-existent textures? Not that I want a thick layer of product on my lips, but I like to feel a little something), but thin enough to wear comfortably.

One pass of this lipstick delivers opaque color, and it doesn’t emphasize or settle into lip lines. What’s more, it doesn’t only go on exceptionally well, it also exists with grace. Diorling wears for about 7 hours on me, and it leaves a stain. It fades beautifully (no migrating out of lip lines, no uneven fading), and it resists to eating. I’m not even talking about finger food either. I have shoved a bowl of noodles down (with chopsticks too!) when I had this lipstick on, and at the end of that it was still there (and not a single trace of it migrated out of my lip lines)!

Most Dior lipsticks are very lightly scented, but this one has a stronger perfume-y smell I guess to go with the retro theme. It reminds me of the ones I smelled in my mom’s stash as a kid (OK, seriously, either this collection just has a very successful retro vibe, or I’m getting a little homesick)!

Bottom line: Whether you will “need” Dior Diorling Diorific Lipstick depends on what your stash of red lipsticks is like, but color- and formula-wise there’s nothing not to love about this one! It goes on more easily than most, wears long and comfortably, is smooth and pretty on, so really, I wouldn’t dissuade those who are interested from purchasing this one!

Have you seen any of the Dior Diorific lipsticks? There are four so there should be something for everyone! What is one lipstick you know you can pig out without having to worry about? Did you play with your mama’s makeup when you were a kid (I am so guilty of that! I ruined many of her lipsticks)?

Noooo way. Chopsticks??? It lasted through noodles? That’s like a super-breed of lipstick!

    • Sunny

Yup! I mean naturally a lot of it was gone, but I still had a bit of lipstick on and it wasn’t patchy!

    Hi Sunny,

I wanted to take the time and check the new website out.. I looked at it a couple of time this week but since I’m studying for my exam I haven’t had the time to check it all out! I love the new lay out! It is so natural I can’t even remember how it was before. I love the new header and love the kitty cat in your name.. Really loving everything!! Great job..

    • Sunny

Hey Natasha, thank you so much for dropping by! I’m glad you like it! I still have some technical issues to work out, but I hope navigation is easy for you and it doesn’t look cluttered :)

It’s the perfect red for me! Love the packaging too!

    • Sunny

Give it a try! The formula is great, and just imagine yourself whipping this out in the ladies’ room! Dazzling!

Thanks to this post, I think I know just the gift for Mom this Christmas! I think just for the packaging alone, it’s quite the collectable.

    • Sunny

I’m glad you found it helpful, Sue! The formula really IS good, and I hope you’ll like it!

The colour looks pretty but I am not wowed away :D for some reason. hm. I have to say, I never really had a diorific lipstick (just tried a few times). Since I have a lot of reds I think I will skip this time (is that odd, that even if I have a lot of reds, I am still looking for ‘the’ perfect red?).

    • Sunny

Haha no it’s not! I hope you’ll find your perfect red soon!

This is such a pretty lipstick. I’m buying this for my grandmom’s Christmas for sure! And I secretly NEED the Diorling nail polish so I’ll be gifting that one to myself ;-)

    • Sunny

Whoa, you must have a glamorous grandmother who would enjoy something like this! Way to go!

It’s always a good idea to buy yourself a Christmas present. Maybe I should start thinking what I’d get for myself as well :)

It’s so pretty! And the lasting power is impressive too! But yeah, this lipstick bandit has her fair share or red lippies haha! It looks lovely on you!

    • Sunny

Thanks Tracy! I like how low-maintenance the formula is. I can dig in without worrying about it!

The packaging reminds me of my mom’s lipsticks, she always used to wear the Diorific lipsticks. Now she’s more into Mac :d ! Love the colour !

    • Sunny

      Your mom sounds so beauty-conscious!

  • http://www.peggytimmermans.be/blog Peggy Timmermans Visagie

Well, the packaging again is really elegant. I don’t do red lipstick but it’s just nice to look at :)

    • Sunny

      Thanks Peggy!

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

This red is lovely on you Sunny :) LOVE the cherry-red hue!

    • Sunny

Thanks so much Becca! This is actually a pretty easy shade to wear!

  • http://mybeautyhoard.blogspot.com/ Jacqueline

Wah! Another beautiful red lipstick, I must not look :) It looks beautiful on you Sunny. You sure can rock a red lip. But honestly it’s just me, I don’t really like the lipstick casing. They kinda look like mini dumb bells to me.

    • Sunny

Haha thanks Jacqueline! I think I’ve just had the luck with the ones that ended up in my hands :) I know there are some who don’t like it, but I think it’s glam!

  • Mado33

A little late sorry about that… But it’s a gorgeous shade and the texture is great. I have Diorling, Diva and Marilyn and am very happy to have them. Your makeup is very pretty, glam and classy !

    • Sunny

Hey girly, I’m glad to hear you love them so much! I find the formula impossibly low-maintenance for SUCH bold shades!

  • Shoegal

This is a very late post, but better late than never? I love this lipstick! As you said, it goes on very smoothly and it lasts and lasts! What I like is that you can wear it without a lip liner! In contrast, with MAC Russian red (a similar shade but matte and maybe with more oomph), a lip liner is a must. Diorling is worth every euro! I do wish they make a shade that perfectly matches the vernis Marilyn though …

    • Sunny

Yaay I’m so glad you like it! Out of my reds this is the easiest to work with!

      • Shoegal

Bought another Dior lipstick at the airport! “Black tie”, a plum-ish shade! Am I becoming obsessed? Haha. The Diorific “Lady” is also super pretty, but I have to stop…….

        • Sunny

Whoaa you got Black Tie? I’ve been eyeing that one for a while now! Now come to think of it I have some coupons burning a whole in my wallet. Maybe they should be spent on that (and a new bottle of the Dior Top Coat. That stuff’s amazing)!

          • Shoegal

I think the color will suit you as well, plus the design is very chic too. Stop me before I get another one……..happy new year!

          • Sunny

Haha happy new year girly! I hope you’re having a great time!
