Try This! REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask Review

Prepare for another raving review, people! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask with you. I’ve been using this for more than two months, and I can confidently say it’s the best peel I’ve tried so far!

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is an exfoliating mask that promises to renew the complexion, improve skin tone and radiance, and reduce fine lines. It contains acid and fruit extracts. I follow the instructions to use it once every week on clean skin, leave it on for 10 minutes, and wipe off with the enclosed cloth before rinsing.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is housed in a plastic bottle with an airless pump. The product sits in a plastic bag, so you can roughly see how much there is left. Besides the big cap, there is this little one that can be detached to give it even more protection. I’m pretty sure the big cap is enough, but I still use both.

The mask smells and feels like marmalade. It is a sticky gel that takes a little work to spread on the skin, and it gets stickier during the time it stays on the skin. I find one pump of product really generous for each use, but you could definitely do with a bit less. In the beginning I carefully left it on for 10 minutes, but since I’ve never had a bad reaction, I leave it on for 15-20 minutes nowadays.

The first couple of times I used it, I didn’t see any immediate radiance. My skin was hydrated and plumper, but that was about it. I also purged a little, but the spots weren’t the kind that I get when my skin is irritated. It’s rather surprising that I never reacted negatively to the mask, because my skin gets irritated very easily with products that contain acid (at least in the beginning). The next morning however, my skin would definitely look very smooth and radiant. The purging also stopped and healed fast.

(The cloth that comes with the mask. It’s pretty thin, but usable. Nowadays I use my own muslin cloth)

After the first couple of times however, the result was immediate. After I rinsed the mask off, I could see my skin is truly amazingly radiant, smooth, and plump. Some blackheads on my nose will also come to the surface, so it’s easy to remove them without squeezing the skin. I always follow up with dry oil (normally Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Treatment, and the next day my skin is practically red carpet-worthy!

Two months and a half later, I still am more than convinced by the product. I don’t use scrubs anymore, and I seldom need other products that contain acid. My skin is smoother in general, and definitely healthier-looking. Despite the fact that I have cut back on other chemical peel type of products, the blackheads on my nose have reduced, and my pores are smaller. This is something I have seen real and lasting improvement with, which is not something I can say about all the skincare products I have tried.

Here is the ingredient list if anyone wants to see it:

Bottom line: If you want to try a chemical peel, REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is a great one to start with. It is much more gentle than many other acid skincare products, and it does deliver. If you want to reduce the size of your pores, get rid of blackheads/acne, or have smoother, more radiant, and plumper skin, give this one a try!

Have you tried this mask or anything else from REN? What else would you recommend? Do you use a scrub or chemical peel?

Sunny, your beauty culture translator xx

Love anything that comes in a pump! Want to try this now, especially since you’ve experienced no irritation (but of curse you already have fab skin).

    • Sunny

Yeah I love airless pumps as well! I have definitely seen a general improvement, so I would really recommend it!

  • beauties

sounds great 😀 love the orange color

    • Sunny

      Haha it’s really like marmalade!

  • Yak Man

sounds great for blackheads! I got so many blackheads on my nose :L. I don’t know what I do wrong, but nosestrips never works

    • Sunny

Oh yeah this is GREAT for that! The problem with those strips is they don’t really solve the problem. You take them out today, they start growing back tomorrow. Acid is what has really helped me, so definitely look into some products that contain acid :)

      • Yak Man

Thanks for the advice =]. At the moment I’m looking at my new mask tube and it contains: stearic acid and salicylic acid are those the same?

        • Sunny

Hey girly, not exactly. Both glycolic and lactic acids are AHAs, so they are more meant for sun damage and skin renewal. Salicylic and stearic acids on the other hand, are BHAs and they target acne. If you have more acne problems your mask will probably work well for you :)

  • Victoria

Sounds like a great product! I have been into masks lately and would love for this brand to be available here in Canada :)

    • Sunny

It’s not? Not even at Sephora? I know that in the US REN is available at Sephora. Check out UK-based webshops in that case. Some of them ship for free worldwide!

  • Larie

This has been on my list for a while – thanks for showing us a breakdown of how it’s meant to be used. Eventually I will get one!!!

    • Sunny

You go ahead, Larie! Let me know how you like it :)

  • ValleyDoll

I’ve heard so many good things about Ren, must definitely try something out ! This mask sounds really good.

    • Sunny

Start with this one! It works so amazingly well!

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

This mask is ALWAYS raved about, so I definitely believe it to be a magical product! 😛 Can’t wait to give it a try!

    • Sunny

You should, Becca! You’ll glow like a goddess!

  • Dovey

Hi Sunny, I love this peel too! I don’t have the full sized version, but I’ve tried a number of packets. If I ever run out of my current peels, I’d love to get one :)

    • Sunny

Yay glad to hear you enjoy it too, Dovey! I like how much more gentle it is compared with other peels I’ve tried.

  • Kristi C. (@lov2read68)

I’ve tried a couple of samples of this & really like it. I have a couple of other similar products that I need to finish up before investing in a full size bottle. I love that it doesn’t irritate my skin. I just got the invibisble pores detox mask & LOVE it too!

    • Sunny

Yay glad to hear you heart this mask too, Kristi! I’ll have to look for more REN products :)

  • Angela @ The Unprofessional Beauty Blog

This sounds like a great product. I’m going to look out for it next time I go shopping.

    • Sunny

YES you do that! I’ve tried MANY products that contain acid, and this is by far the most gentle!

  • L e n a

    i should try this!
lately my skin is kinda misbehaving… -.-
i know there are lots of new anti-aging ingredients introduced in the market, but good old glycolic acid takes care of lots of problems.

    • Sunny

Aww so sorry to hear that, Lena! Anti-aging isn’t my main concern, but this one just makes my skin healthy and radiant, which I’m sure everybody wants :)

  • Jessica

So happy you love this too! Isn’t it incredible? I’ve tried so many harsh peels and REN’s manages to be very gentle but super effective. Now that I’ve worked it into my routine I don’t know what I’d do without it!

    ♥ Jessica

    • Sunny

Yes it is, Jessica! This is something I definitely don’t want to run out of!

  • Taylor

I have been dying to try this! I’m so happy to see a positive review from you. I currently using Alpha H Liquid Gold an I’m not quite sure it’s doing anything for me. As soon as I run out, I promised myself, I’m going to definitely pick this up. xx

    • Sunny

Hey Taylor, I have reviewed Alpha H Liquid Gold as well. While it does something for me, I have to use it very sparingly because the formula is harsher. Can’t wait to hear what you think about this one!

  • Libby

Ahhhh! I’ve been dying to try this since every review I’ve read of it is fantastic. Whenever I stop by Sephora though, they always tell me that it might be too harsh for my skin as I have sensitive skin :( Do you find it really harsh? I know it’s a chemical peel…I suppose I shall just resign myself to other exfoliators, lol.

I’m glad it works so well for you :) it’s always great when a product actually works and not only that, but continues to work!

    • Sunny

Hey Libby, how sensitive is your skin? Mine almost always reacts a bit badly to acid, as least in the beginning. With this one my skin has been really happy, but it might be a good idea to see if you can get a couple of sample sachets first.

  • Peggy Timmermans Visagie

This sounds pretty good! Does all the things I want a mask to do and is certainly worht looking for after reading your review!

    • Sunny

Definitely look into this one, Peggy! I am systematically impressed!
