Korres Guava Showergel, Body Butter, & Lip Butter Review

Everybody likes a good story, and Korres is a brand with one. It all started when George Korres (I got to meet him in Brussels a while back. He is so super nice!) started working in a pharmacy while studying pharmacology at the University of Athens. He was skeptical about homeotherapy at first, but he soon discovered the amazing power of herbs. This knowledge led him to found Korres in 1996. Today Korres is a growing company that is sold around the world, and we’re going to take a look at three products from their Guava collection today!

The idea of choosing guava for scent is intriguing for me because guava doesn’t really have a smell. Both Korres Guava Showergel and Body Butter smell good, but they don’t really remind me of guava. Instead, they smell a bit woody and spicy, quite perfect for the season! The shower gel has a slightly thicker consistency. It foams up well, doesn’t dry my skin out, and can be rinsed clean easily. The Body Butter is also slightly thicker than most lotions (though thinner than real creams). It takes a little while to massage it in, and it works wonderfully well for my skin in this weather. I would definitely love to lay my hands on a full-size tube at some point!

Here is the ingredient list of the Showergel if anyone is interested:

Here is the ingredient list of the Body Butter:

I have wanted to try the famous Korres Lip Butters for a long time, and I was glad to start with guava! Guava Lip Butter comes in a plastic pot. It looks white, and the texture is soft and springy. It doesn’t take extra effort to melt even when the weather is rather chilly, so it’s easy to apply when you’re on-the-go!

It has roughly the same smell with the Guava Showergel and Body Butter, though a lot milder. It can look white very fast, so I would suggest you start with a tiny bit, apply, and rub your lips together. Since I am not into using lip products in pots during daytime, I mainly saved it as my nighttime balm. I put a thick layer on (and yes, my lips would look white), and my lips would be nicely-moisturized and soft in the morning. It nourishes and protects well. Some lip balms dry on your lips overnight and you wake up with dehydrated lips, but this is not one of those!

I think the formula works well both applied lightly during daytime and layered-on thickly at night. Because of the packaging, I prefer to keep this one for bedtime. However, there are many tinted versions also in their Lip Butter Glazes (which come in tubes), and I heard those are fantastically hydrating as well!

Here is the ingredient list:

Bottom line: I would highly recommend giving Korres products a try, especially their Body Butters and Lip Butters. They provide moisturization without harsh chemicals. A lot of the times that’s all I ask for!

Have you tried anything from Korres? What is your favorite? I’d like to look into their makeup, since the line seems underrated!

PS: This is George Korres and me. Doesn’t he look really nice and cuddly?

Hi Sunny, it’s so cool that you met George Korres! The ingredient list for the lip butters is helpful, as I’m trying to find non-beeswax balms at the moment :)

    • Sunny

Yay I’m glad it helped! I’ll keep an eye out for balms that don’t contain beeswax for you :)

  • http://www.nymphette.be Marijke

I used the lipbalm a couple months ago, soooo good!

    • Sunny

I have a few of their shadows, a lip gloss, and a few of the Lip Butters–LOVED everything. I was sad to see so many of their color products go. I thought they were just revamping them at first but it’s been a while now…

    • Sunny

Ouch I hope they’ll come back! I’ve seen a makeup display here, and the selection isn’t too big.

it is wonderful you have met the creator of this brand. he does look very nice. 😉

    • Sunny

Wow! Trying my country’s goodies! Hehe !
I love Korres. Here is a considerably cheaper, so I have tried quite a few goodies already, from lipsticks, to lipglosses, hair color dyes, lip balms, shampoos, etc.

Korres himself looks very cuddly, and very ”old” Greek (Greek from older decades).!

    • Sunny

Gooo Greece! Korres is pretty reasonably-priced here, though it’d make sense if it were cheaper in Greece. I need to try more of the stuff!

      • http://princesagr.wordpress.com PrincesaGr

ÎĽÎżu should! You are gonna love them!

Korres is one of my current fave brand! loving the lip butters so much, both in pot or stick form ;))
I heard that the blushes are also amazing! I haven’t tried them though.. but the shower gel and shampoo are also really great. I find the price is reasonable too 😉
Mr. George Korres looks like a nice man! Guess you had so much fun there!

    • Sunny

Mr. Korres is REALLY nice and chatty! Korres is getting bigger, but he still gives me the impression of a total family man :)

I need to look into their blushes. I know they’re a bit underrated, but Temptalia loves them and I’m sure she has a good reason!

  • http://mylucitedreams.com Taylor

So cool! I love Korres! The Lip Butters are delicious. The body care products are so moisturizing. It a fabulous line.

    • Sunny

I need to try a lip butter glaze. I just never use lip products in pots during daytime, because I don’t want to dip my fingers in there!

  • http://themakeuptrain.com Chris

Korres is a pretty awesome brand. I just bought their Natural blush. It’s super pretty!

    • Sunny

OOO yeah I have to look into their makeup range. The pharmacy near me that carries the brand also carries some of their makeup.

    • Sunny

I haven’t tried too much Korres skincare, but the lip butter and body butter are nice :)

  • http://www.peggytimmermans.be/blog Peggy Timmermans Visagie

I have never tried anything from this brand, it was just to unknown by me. Must say…you have opened my mind a bit!

    • Sunny

Haha thanks Peggy! You might have to look around a little because this is only available at certain pharmacies here.

  • http://www.chloeash.com Lily (@ChloeAsh)

I haven’t tried anything from Korres before! If there’s only one thing you’d recommend, what would it be?

    • Sunny

I’d have to say the Body Butter! It’s thicker than most lotions but lighter than most body creams. I get good results with it, and there are different scents to choose from!

  • http://aucupariabrumalis.wordpress.com Claire

haha, nice and cuddly! 😀 I like the shower gel and body creams from korres, the lip products are all a bit drying on me. lovely pictures as always sunny.

    • Sunny

Thanks Claire! Wow I can’t really imagine the lip butter being drying, but we’re all made different!

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com Catherine (@bcrueltyfree)

I LOVE Korres lip glosses and liquid lipsticks, they are so moisturizing yet quite pigmented. The liquid lipsticks especially – they have a cooling feeling and are just gorgeous. I can’t remember the number but I have a beigey pink one that’s just the most perfect neutral lip color for me. And Mr Korres does look very friendly and warm :)

    • Sunny

Ahh now I need to put the glosses and liquid lipsticks on my wish list. They sound luscious!
