Everybody likes a good story, and Korres is a brand with one. It all started when George Korres (I got to meet him in Brussels a while back. He is so super nice!) started working in a pharmacy while studying pharmacology at the University of Athens. He was skeptical about homeotherapy at first, but he soon discovered the amazing power of herbs. This knowledge led him to found Korres in 1996. Today Korres is a growing company that is sold around the world, and we’re going to take a look at three products from their Guava collection today!
The idea of choosing guava for scent is intriguing for me because guava doesn’t really have a smell. Both Korres Guava Showergel and Body Butter smell good, but they don’t really remind me of guava. Instead, they smell a bit woody and spicy, quite perfect for the season! The shower gel has a slightly thicker consistency. It foams up well, doesn’t dry my skin out, and can be rinsed clean easily. The Body Butter is also slightly thicker than most lotions (though thinner than real creams). It takes a little while to massage it in, and it works wonderfully well for my skin in this weather. I would definitely love to lay my hands on a full-size tube at some point!
I have wanted to try the famous Korres Lip Butters for a long time, and I was glad to start with guava! Guava Lip Butter comes in a plastic pot. It looks white, and the texture is soft and springy. It doesn’t take extra effort to melt even when the weather is rather chilly, so it’s easy to apply when you’re on-the-go!
It has roughly the same smell with the Guava Showergel and Body Butter, though a lot milder. It can look white very fast, so I would suggest you start with a tiny bit, apply, and rub your lips together. Since I am not into using lip products in pots during daytime, I mainly saved it as my nighttime balm. I put a thick layer on (and yes, my lips would look white), and my lips would be nicely-moisturized and soft in the morning. It nourishes and protects well. Some lip balms dry on your lips overnight and you wake up with dehydrated lips, but this is not one of those!
I think the formula works well both applied lightly during daytime and layered-on thickly at night. Because of the packaging, I prefer to keep this one for bedtime. However, there are many tinted versions also in their Lip Butter Glazes (which come in tubes), and I heard those are fantastically hydrating as well!
Bottom line: I would highly recommend giving Korres products a try, especially their Body Butters and Lip Butters. They provide moisturization without harsh chemicals. A lot of the times that’s all I ask for!
Have you tried anything from Korres? What is your favorite? I’d like to look into their makeup, since the line seems underrated!
