FOTD: Couches de Coleurs Fun with Le Métier de Beauté Bauhaus Eye Kaleidoscope!

Hey everyone!

When I swatched and reviewed Le Métier de Beauté Bauhaus Eye Kaleidoscope yesterday, I promised to try layering the shades and tell you what I think. Voilà, here comes the look!

I didn’t literally follow the Couches de Coleurs technique, as I wanted to show you how each “layer” looks as well.

I started out by lining my waterline and lash line thickly with Tarte Onyx, smudging it out with the sponge end. I then patted Axiom all over my lids, Graphic a little lower than Axiom, a thin strip of Crucible, and a tiny bit of Genre along my lash line and into the outer v. I also went over my lower lash line with Axiom, and highlighted my inner corners with Graphic. I patted some gel liner into the roots of my upper lashes without really “lining” my eyes. Even though you don’t really see a line, it gives more definition and intensity.

I used Le Métier de Beauté Tenné Créme Fresh Tint on my cheeks and lips, and patted a bit of Guerlain Altoum Shine Automatique in the middle of my lips.

I adore Bauhaus because it makes wearing colors I wouldn’t normally reach for entirely possible (I mean, a bluish silver and a pomegranate? Really?). I really like the purplish color I get when I layer Axiom, Graphic, and Crucible together. Next time I might do just that all over my lids and use Genre close to my lash line and into the outer v! Another observation I made in the process is that even though the colors don’t seem like they naturally go together, for some reason the icy bluish silver of Graphic looks quite reasonable in my inner corners next to a rather warm mixture of shades. It’s fascinating!

I have no issue with fallout or wear with Bauhaus, which can be quite reasonably expected from Le Métier de Beauté eyeshadows.

Bottom line: Le Métier de Beauté Bauhaus Eye Kaleidoscope packs four high-quality shades that don’t seem to work together easily, but they really do. There are many ways to play with and layer the colors. I think everyone will be able to make the kit work beautifully regardless of skin tone!

What do you say? Are you in for a bit of Le Métier de Beauté layering fun?

Sunny, your beauty culture translator xx

Sunny!!! You look stunning as usual. I love using the couches de couleur technique particularly on days that I’m not really in the mood to think about color placement, detail eye work. I layer them sheerly for a soft smokey effect. This is my favorite among all my kaleidoscopes and that’s saying a lot.

    • Sunny

Thanks Emilie! You’re right about not having to think about color placement. I’m not very good at that and basically I don’t have that much lid space to play with :p

  • Shoegal

Love the profile photo of yourself! Colors look gorgeous on you.

Hi Sunny, I love how you’ve layered them on here— plus the slight bronzy tones look great on you!

    • Sunny

Thanks Dovey! Bronze for some strange reason isn’t my favorite color to use on my lids, but the layering thing makes this so much cooler!

I love this look, Sunny! So pretty, fresh, and natural. The eyeshadow colors really flatter your eyes and skintone. I’m pretty sure I say this in every other comment I leave here, but your hair is BEAUTIFUL! If you haven’t already, you should really do a post on your hair routine :)

    • Sunny

      Aww thanks Catherine!

I had a digital perm (don’t know if you know what it is. It’s big in Asia, and if you go to a Japan/Korea town in a major city in North America, you might be able to get it done) 5 months ago. I just dry my hair with a diffuser and that’s about it. I’ll think about doing a post though. Thanks for the compliment <3

You look absolutely gorgeous, sophisticated, and chic here! I’m used to seeing you with bold lips, but your eyeshadow and the gentle color from tenne and altoum make an understated statement. Possibly my favorite look yet! (:

Thanks so much Christine! So glad to hear you like it xx
