Don’t even ask me where I am with my Christmas shopping: you will be appalled. I am this close to committing the crime of giving everyone a bottle… or a box of chocolate. Sometimes I wish I knew more people in real life who are into girly stuff. That would make Christmas shopping so much easier! For example, I will be able to make someone happy by giving this KENZO Madly Eau de Toilette Christmas set!
People say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but in this case the packaging already blows me away! Images of geisha, chameleon, lantern, butterfly and so on run wild on the red and gold box. The colors might be typically holiday-themed and festive, but it looks like such a psychedelic and creative dream!
The box holds a 50ml bottle of Madly KENZO Eau de Toilette. The bottle very literally has an interesting “twist,” and the pink gradient makes the perfume itself look pink-tinted.
KENZO Madly is a girly fruity floral. When it is first sprayed on I get a burst of sweet pear and lychee (finally, a perfume that doesn’t open with citrus notes. Not that I don’t like citrus, but when it is in literally EVERY perfume on the market, it gets a bit old). It then moves on to the heart notes of jasmine and heliotropes. I have to admit I have no idea how heliotropes really smell, but in any case Madly smells like a pleasant mixture of flowers and fruit before quieting down to cedar and musk. The base notes are very soft, and I can still catch a sniff of the pear and lychee from time to time. It’s fun and girly!
The illuminating powder is a sparkling bronze, light pink, and raspberry pink, though the light pink and raspberry pink are just overspray. Eventually it’ll end up with no particular “color” at all. The embossed detail is rather lovely, and it fits the butterfly theme of KENZO Madly well. The great news is that the base of this illuminating powder is transparent, so whatever your skin tone is, it won’t end up looking ashy. However, it really is pretty sparkling, so I would personally use it as a highlighter instead of an overall illuminating powder.
Bottom line: Treat the girly girl in your life with the KENZO Madly set this Christmas! The set costs roughly 10 euros more than a 50ml bottle (I’m talking about RRP, so prices will vary depending on where you get it) of Madly EDT, which isn’t a bad price for a pretty box you can keep for storing something else as well as a highlighter!
Have you sniffed KENZO Madly? Would you give perfume sets for Christmas presents?
Sunny, your beauty culture translator xx
PS: Tester number 2 said that he doesn’t really care for a fruity floral fragrance, but this box makes an awfully fancy pillow…
