Chanel reads my mind. The matte coral lipstick, La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet (43), was pretty much destined to be one of my favorite pieces this season. My Rouge Allure Velvet initiation might not have been the most successful, but La Favorite has completely turned that around and then some!
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets come in the same sleek packaging as Rouge Allures.
All you have to do is click on the golden part for it to spring up, and then you can take the lipstick out. Simple, and classic!
La Favorite is described as a “glamorous coral red” by Chanel. I do see hints of red when I swatch it, but once on my lips it’s pretty much a coral. The finish is matte, though there is a pretty silky sheen to prevent it from looking too much so. It goes on really smooth, and it doesn’t sink into lines (though I wouldn’t say it masks them either). With such a high pigmentation level, I barely have to dab it on my lips for opaque coverage. However, it is incredibly lightweight. It feels non-existent on the lips, and there is no migrating at all. Likewise, there is barely any transferring. It doesn’t dry my lips out at all. I wore it all day in the cold and in the wind, but my lips were absolutely fine after I removed the stain. La Favorite wears for 5 hours on me, and it leaves an even stain that hangs around for at least another three.
Here is how it looks swatched. On the left: one swipe. On the right: built up.
I also compared La Favorite with two other coral lipsticks I own that look the closest. From left to right: Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet, Guerlain Nahema Rouge Automatique, and Chanel Enjouée Rouge Allure:
Here is how it looks on me. See that pretty silky sheen?
Bottom line: I would highly recommend Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet. It is effortless to put on, the staying power is excellent, the formula is non-drying on me, and I can’t stay away from the color even though we’re experiencing full-on winter here for the moment! I will have to try more Rouge Allure Velvets to get a better idea about how they usually work, but I would be really happy if most of them perform like this!
Have you tried any Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets? What is your experience with them? Is La Favorite something you would add to your collection?
