Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet Is an Instant Favorite!

Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet FOTD\

Chanel reads my mind. The matte coral lipstick, La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet (43), was pretty much destined to be one of my favorite pieces this season. My Rouge Allure Velvet initiation might not have been the most successful, but La Favorite has completely turned that around and then some!

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets come in the same sleek packaging as Rouge Allures.

All you have to do is click on the golden part for it to spring up, and then you can take the lipstick out. Simple, and classic!

Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet

La Favorite is described as a “glamorous coral red” by Chanel. I do see hints of red when I swatch it, but once on my lips it’s pretty much a coral. The finish is matte, though there is a pretty silky sheen to prevent it from looking too much so. It goes on really smooth, and it doesn’t sink into lines (though I wouldn’t say it masks them either). With such a high pigmentation level, I barely have to dab it on my lips for opaque coverage. However, it is incredibly lightweight. It feels non-existent on the lips, and there is no migrating at all. Likewise, there is barely any transferring. It doesn’t dry my lips out at all. I wore it all day in the cold and in the wind, but my lips were absolutely fine after I removed the stain. La Favorite wears for 5 hours on me, and it leaves an even stain that hangs around for at least another three.

Here is how it looks swatched. On the left: one swipe. On the right: built up.

I also compared La Favorite with two other coral lipsticks I own that look the closest. From left to right: Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet, Guerlain Nahema Rouge Automatique, and Chanel Enjouée Rouge Allure:

Here is how it looks on me. See that pretty silky sheen?

Chanel La Favorite

Bottom line: I would highly recommend Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet. It is effortless to put on, the staying power is excellent, the formula is non-drying on me, and I can’t stay away from the color even though we’re experiencing full-on winter here for the moment! I will have to try more Rouge Allure Velvets to get a better idea about how they usually work, but I would be really happy if most of them perform like this!

Have you tried any Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets? What is your experience with them? Is La Favorite something you would add to your collection?

  • Meryl @ Memoiselle

The color is so you, Sunny! Matches your skin perfectly!

    • Sunny

      Thanks so much Meryl!

  • Chris El

This coral looks gorgeous on you! I’m not sure I could pull this color off, but I love the matte finish. :)

    • Sunny

Hey Chris you should try! It’s probably my favorite lipstick this season so far :)

  • beauties

    this one matches 100%!

    • Sunny

Haha thanks! I’m so impressed with the color and I’m glad the formula works well!

  • Shoegal

This IS the color for you. It’s gorgeous and you look so fresh! Too bad I don’t think it will suit me. The search continues…

    • Sunny

Thanks so much girly! There are so many different corals around. Some are more pink and others more orange. You’ll find the one!

  • Marla

That color really is perfect on your skin tone. Very natural looking.

    • Sunny

Thanks Marla! Coral seems to sit well on my skin tone :)

  • Sil

    It’s a lovely color!

I find the Rouge Allure formula a little drying on me. Do you the Rouge Allure Velvet is more hydrating?

    • Sunny

Hey Sil, I would say Rouge Allure Velvet has more of a tendency to be drying on people from what I’ve read. La Favorite works well on me. It’s not hydrating but it’s not drying. Rouge Allures in general feel more emollient on. Does that make sense?

      • Sil

Thanks for your answer. I think it was the “velvet” part of the name that made me think it was more hydrating. I’ll stick to Rouge Allure then :)

        • Sunny

You’re welcome, Sil! Do give the Rouge Allure Velvets in this collection a try though (the other is L’Eclatante). I swatched L’Eclatante the other day and was really surprised by the creamy texture! I think there are differences in the line.

  • Teri

I’m surprised on how muted it looks on your lips! You were wearing this yesterday no? Or was it the other shade? It almost looks like peach on you, but really pretty! So happy to hear that the formula seems to work out too!

    • Sunny

Yup this is what I was wearing yesterday! I think it’s probably a skin tone thing. It’s not so easy for bright shades to look neon on me :)

  • Icaria

Love this color! It’s a very elegant coral & it looks great on you.

    • Sunny

Thanks girl! It’s bright but not over the top. The silky sheen is very unique among the lipsticks I’ve tried.

  • Lily (@ChloeAsh)

Your post just reminded me that I have a Chanel lipstick that I have yet to open!! This colour suits you so well. Of all the lipsticks, I think I like this on you most. And the Hourglass red :-)

    • Sunny

Haha thanks Lily! You forgot to open a Chanel lipstick? HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN? 😉

  • Perilously Pale

That is so darn pretty on you!

    • Sunny

Thanks Christa! I am seriously considering getting a backup LOL

  • ValleyDoll

Oelalaaa ! I don’t know how you do it but every lipstick suits you so well !

    • Sunny

Thanks Eva, you’re too kind! I’m sure there are colors I can’t pull off at all!

  • Angela @ The Unprofessional Beauty Blog

This is a beautiful color, and it really looks amazing on you. It’s great to hear that it’s not drying.

    • Sunny

Thanks Angela! Nope I wore this all day and my lips were just fine!

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

You look so gorgeous in this kind of shade, Sunny! Love it! It’s perfect for spring and summer 😀

    • Sunny

Thanks so much Becca! I bet it’ll look fantastic on you too!

  • Libby

It looks so pretty on you! I was tempted by this shade when I read another blogger’s review and coral is a definite weakness of mine during Spring/Summer. Ah, I think I was a goner when I read that it’s matte. I’ve also got my eye on the color Captivante…which is probably going to go home with me tomorrow, haha.

    • Sunny

Thanks so much Libby! Captivante is a pretty one as well. Let me know how you like it/them 😉

  • Ruby

This shade is pretty!! I love coral shades.

    • Sunny

I bet it’ll look pretty on you too!

  • Tracy@Beauty Reflections

LOVE it on you! It’s so elegant! This was the one that caught my eye as well! I want to go try it on now haha!

    • Sunny

Awww thanks Tracy! You should try it on. I swatched the other Rouge Allure Velvet in the collection (L’Eclatante) today and found it really creamy! That was unexpected!

  • Taylor

I love this on you. It did not work so well for me. It looks surprisingly so much more wearable. Nothing is really grabbing my attention for this collection, but I do want to pick up more Rouge Allures from last season :-)

    • Sunny

Aww I guess it is a skin tone thing. Can’t wait to see what Rouge Allures you’re going to pick up though!

  • Jacqueline

The velvets are one of my favourites. There is a lovely deep red called La Fascinante that you have to check out. This is a gorgeous gorgeous colour on you. Love!

    • Sunny

Thanks for the recommendation, Jacqueline! After La Favorite I’m getting really excited about this line!

  • Chelsea

Only just tried a lipstick from this Chanel range and I LOVE! Colours look great on you. I’ve put a review on La Favourite myself. Feel free to check it out:
