The Diva of Printemps Précieux de Chanel: Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder

Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder

Pretty much as soon as I saw the promo images of Chanel Printemps Précieux de Chanel, I knew the star of the show, Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder (RRP in Belgium: 55 euros), would sell like hotcakes. After playing with it for a while, I am pretty sure I was right!

Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder comes in a slightly different black velvet pouch.

Once you open the pouch, you get the compact itself as well as a sponge applicator. The applicator isn’t a bad option if you haven’t found your favorite highlighter brush yet. A light dab into the pan and you are ready to swipe it on!

Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder review

Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder contains 8 grams (0.28 oz) of product, and it is a slightly rosy beige color. Once on I don’t really see any color, and it does not turn ashy on me. The pattern is absolutely worship-worthy with the double C logos, roses, and lipsticks. I took a whole bunch of pictures before I finally braved myself to swatch it!

Absolutely no regret there, people! If you see this highlighter around, please promise me you will at least swatch it. Even with all the great powder products I own, Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder seems to be in its own league. It is finely-milled with no trace of powderiness, creamy without tackiness, and the powder feels so incredibly lightweight!

What’s more, Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder is definitely on the subtle side of powder highlighters. I normally never use “shimmery” shades under my brow bones because I don’t want to risk having it reflect too much at certain angles. With Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder however, I have found that I can make an exception. It does not sink into pores, does not make the skin appear greasy or sweaty, and it makes all the highlighted parts stand out in a really beautiful way. Even up close you don’t see the powder or even the “shimmer” it contains. In other words, it does what a highlighter is supposed to do: once it’s on, you see the light but not the product itself.

Here are some photos of me wearing the highlighter on the top of my cheekbones, in the center of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and on my Cupid’s bow:

Bottom line: Adorable pattern aside, Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder is an excellent highlighter. I like my highlighter on the subtle side, and this one successfully brings light to the right parts without any drawbacks. The texture is amazing, and the quality is definitely there! I might not have seen enough highlighters, but I am slightly worried it will bring out the highlighter hoarder in me!

Have you seen Printemps Précieux de Chanel (it has been available in Belgium since yesterday)? Did you give this baby a swatch? What is your favorite highlighter? If you are a highlighter hoarder, is this similar to anything in your stash?

Mostly Sunny disclosure

  • Jacqueline

I have way too many highlighters and I don’t use them as much as I should so I skipped this. It is very beautiful though.

    • Sunny

Aww yeah I understand though. I used to skip the step, but in this weather I am more compelled to do it!

  • Redhotjillypeppers

I love this collection ! The highlighter is so pretty.

    • Sunny

I know! It’s pretty AND it works soooo well if you like a subtle highlighter!

  • BeautyLoves

Love. Simply love. I avoid the stores, because I know I’ll love it. Is it, consistency wise, somewhat like Dior Nude Shimmer (I’m hoping you’ll say yes, so I’ll have another reason NOT to buy the Chanel one)?

    • Sunny

Oh don’t I know it! I went to the store the other day and now I want some MORE pieces from this collection. It’s insane!

I took my Diorskin Nude Shimmer out for a quick comparison. This one is softer to the touch and seems to blend out a bit more easily. The effect is more subtle too. If you like your highlighter to be a bit more visible you might be better off with Diorskin Nude Shimmer. I find it natural enough!

  • beauties

you’ve got the star product 😀

    • Sunny

      Yup star it is!

  • Marla

I also have more highlighters than I can use. I’ll have to skip this one.

    • Sunny

Haha I understand. I wasn’t big on highlighters at all, but this one might be changing that!

  • Icaria

If it weren’t so expensive this is one I would probably go for. I haven’t worn any highlighters for a very long time because I found them too obvious on me, too shiny. I’ll see, maybe a b-day present for me in Spring. :)

    • Sunny

Oh yeah for sure! This one is really on the subtle side for a powder highlighter. Even if I scrutinize my skin under artificial lighting I don’t see shimmery particle!

  • Lily (@ChloeAsh)

    OK, don’t shoot me…. but…. I’m just not feeling it -_-
I saw it at the counter, looked at it (and the rest of the collection), heart didn’t go pitter patter, so I walked away. Never regretted it. Maybe I’m getting better at controlling myself :-)

    • Sunny

Haha no I won’t shoot you! If you already have found your holy grail highlighter I can understand :)

  • Tracy@Beauty Reflections

Sure looks pretty that’s for sure! But I think I’ll probably skip it. I just love my Guerlain Cruel Gardenia too much!

    • Sunny

Ahhh for me that’s the one that got away! If I remember right though, Cruel Gardenia might be a bit pinker and I think the beige in this one works better for my skin tone :)

  • Meryl @ Memoiselle

Honestly I bought this only because of its pattern. SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!

    • Sunny

LOL but it performs REALLY well too! I’m not a highlighter hoarder yet but this one might be turning me into one!

  • Marijke

    The pattern is sooo pretty!!

    • Sunny

It’s still mostly there after multiple uses/swatches. Phew!

  • Tina @ My Highest Self

A beautiful highlighter that any lady would want in their collection!

    • Sunny

I agree! Make sure you check it out. The texture of this one is out of this world!

  • Jasmine @ themakeupfile

Oh I would love to use a highlighter…but I’m so worried about my oily skin! I don’t think my face would need more shine! It’s so gorgeous though!

    • Sunny

Hey Jasmine, I know what you mean! I have combination skin, so I tend to avoid highlighting my forehead and bridge of the nose. I do think it’s a good idea to use a mattifying primer underneath and light-reflecting products on top though. That way I’m at least sure the light will be in the right places!

  • Peggy Timmermans Visagie

I really like this powder! It has a soft golden tone on me, but not really golden, more like, well you know what i mean!

    • Sunny

Haha yeah I think I do! This one doesn’t really have a color anymore on my skin tone, but I can see it might look different on different skin tones.

  • Teri

It’s absolutely stunning! My biggest problem with this powder would be the fear of using it because the pattern is just too pretty!

    • Sunny

It killed me a little to dip my fingers in, but I’ve been using it all the time for 10 days and the pattern still isn’t gone! I think the bottom line is it’s a GREAT powder, with or without the pattern :)

  • Caise

oh I want it so bad but of course it isn’t available in my country and can’t find it online:(

    • Sunny

Huh is that possible? I didn’t know this powder is limited to certain regions. So sorry to hear that :(

  • Caise

we are always very belated in Poland.. I’ve been dying for over 2 months to try it out:(

    • Sunny

OOO yeah I heard things are slower in Poland. A bit more patience! I’m sure it will eventually be available :)

  • Kelly

I love the print in this powder, I would be afraid to use because it looks so beautiful!

    • Sunny

Actually I’ve been using it all the time for about 2 weeks now, and the print is not fully gone! I think it will take quite a while to be honest!

  • ningning

i saw and swatched it (errr on my face, haha) and i am really having a painful “my preciousssss’ moment….

    *gollum* *gollum*

This highlighter is out of this world! ok, i am exaggerating a bit but i just didnt ‘presume’ this chanel product to live up to what i expected it to be (ie., something that i would actually want BADLY). i am always drawn to chanel and i know how the products perform (i am only seriously now discovering that there are also other great products from YSL and Dior… ridiculous as it may sound.) but it just makes me repeat to myself i really love chanel and would always just ends up buying chanel products. hehe.

    • Sunny

Haha you are hilarious! I totally get what you mean! There are some brands that have a more special place in our hearts!
