Yum. That is the word I would choose if I had to describe Chanel Fracas Le Vernis (571. RRP in Belgium: 23 euros, limited edition) with one word. This watermelon pink jumps out at me from the promo images, and the formula is definitely the one of the best Chanel Le Vernis I have encountered!
Chanel Fracas Le Vernis is a warm watermelon pink with some hardly-discernible shimmer. I can see some ruby and gold shimmer at certain angles under certain lighting, but on the nails it is next to impossible to see any. Not a big loss in my book, since the color itself is good enough to persuade me!
The packaging is standard Chanel Le Vernis. Maybe I have got used to the brush or made some progress in nail polish application skills, because nowadays I can paint my nails with ease with the brush. The formula of Fracas is amazing. It is not too thick, not too thin, and it is very smooth and nearly opaque with one coat. I still did two in the swatches, but if I am ever in a hurry I wouldn’t hesitate to leave it at one coat!
This is how it looks on my nails. Such a cheerful color for spring/summer!
The promo image reminds me of Dior Plaza Vernis, but when I saw the bottles side-by-side I knew they wouldn’t be remotely close. Here I have Plaza on my index and middle fingers; Fracas on my ring finger and pinky (sorry for the cut on my ring finger. The cold does that to me very often).
One more with Fracas next to my face so you can get a better idea of how it really looks!
Bottom line: Chanel Fracas Le Vernis is an extremely cheerful shade that is perfect for spring and summer. Chanel nailed the formula: Fracas applies like a dream and is almost opaque with one coat. Even with personal preferences aside, this is something I would highly recommend!
Do you own a juicy watermelon pink? Is Fracas calling your name?
