Several years ago, there was a mannequin hands trend. The idea is finding a nail polish that is very close to your skin tone, so that your fingers will look like those of a mannequin and drastically longer. The trend might have come and gone, but sophisticated shades never go out of style, and I have found Chanel Emprise Le Vernis (569, limited edition. RRP in Belgium: 23 euros) that gives me mannequin hands but better!
Chanel Emprise Le Vernis is a peachy beige. Like Chanel Fracas Le Vernis, the shimmer is barely visible on the nails, and in all honesty it has a crème finish once it’s on.
The consistency of Emprise is picture perfect. It is not too thick nor too thin, and it glides on easily. One coat of Emprise is already pretty smooth and brush stroke-free, though to achieve opaque coverage two coats are still ideal. I had wear issues with metallic Chanel Le Vernis in the past, but the crème-finish ones never cause any trouble.
It’s clean and polished-looking, not quite nude but not quite a “color” either. Very nuanced and versatile!
One more so you get a better idea about how it really looks on me. I’m also wearing Chanel Captivante Rouge Allure here.
Bottom line: Great formula, clean-looking and soft color, Chanel Emprise Le Vernis is yet another Chanel Le Vernis that comes highly recommended from me this season. I suppose this will look different on different skin tones, but I have real problems imagining it won’t look good on anyone!
Does Emprise speak to you? I know it might look like the least exciting shade out of the three (Accessoire will be reviewed soon), but it really is a darling!
