Purple eyeshadow lovers, here is something that’s calling your name! Besides the green and coral in Guerlain Coup de Foudre, Guerlain has a beautiful purple quad up their sleeve called Attrape-Coeur this season (501, limited edition. RRP in Belgium: 55,10 euros).
Guerlain Attrape-Coeur Ecrin 4 Couleurs comes in the same golden compact as the rest of Guerlain quads.
The first shade in Attrape-Coeur is a pale iridescent mauve. The iridescent finish is rather unique and amazing. Shades in the purple family aren’t necessarily brightening enough for me to wear on my inner lids, but with this one I don’t have a problem at all. The texture is soft, but the color payoff is not the strongest I’ve seen from Guerlain. It can be built up though!
The second shade is an icy, frosty, shimmery white. The texture is soft, and the color payoff is decent. There is a little underlying sheerness that could be part of the design, and I didn’t experience any problems working with it. I was worried about this shade looking too stark on the lids, but in fact it is nicely brightening!
The third shade is a mid-to-dark toned red-based purple. It has shimmer and a soft satin finish. It feels slightly rougher and ever-so-slightly powdery, but the pigmentation level is good and I am glad it is very easy to blend.
The fourth shade is a pink lavender. It has a satin finish, and it is very smooth and pigmented.
Here is all of them swatched together:
All in all I would say the only slightly troublesome shade to work with is the first one, though it can be built up. All of these blend extremely well, and I guess that’s why even though these shades stand out quite a bit, they work together seamlessly.
For the look I used the first shade on my inner third of the lids, the pink lavender on the middle third, and the red-toned purple on the outer third and into my crease. I highlighted my inner corners with the white and went over my lower lash line with the red-toned purple as well. I paired the look with Chanel Rose Initiale Joues Contraste and Chanel Fantasque Rouge Allure.
Bottom line: If you don’t mind working a bit with one shade out of the four, Guerlain Attrape-Coeur Ecrin 4 Couleurs is a quad that’s worth looking into. The colors are blendable and work seamlessly together for a soft spring look that is very eye-catching. The combination is easier to pull off than it seems because the shades work together so well!
Have you seen Guerlain Attrape-Coeur around? Are you tempted by any of the two quads Guerlain put out this season? Do you wear purple eyeshadows often?
