If the Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof formula works for you, I have great news! Chanel Jeux de Regards comes with a total of eight Stylo Yeux Waterproofs. Some of them are permanent members of the line-up, some are new (like Bleu Exquis 103), and others are limited edition (like Taupe 84. RRP in Belgium: 23,50 euros). Did your heart skip a beat at the sound of a taupe eyeliner?
Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproofs have a twist-up mechanism, so sharpening isn’t often necessary. However, should you wish to get a crisp line, you can always pull off the sharpener from the end of the pencil. I have tried to sharpen mine this way, and I’m glad it’s pretty mess-free (this is mostly because the formula is not too creamy. I love how creamy eyeliners glide on, but when I have to sharpen them there’s always a lot of wiping-down to do afterwards) and waste-free. You definitely won’t lose a lot of the precious pencil this way!
Chanel calls Taupe (84) a marron glacé (candied chestnut) color (am I the only one who is frantically craving for sugar at the sound of this?). On me it is a shimmery, slightly frosty neutral taupe with a slight mauve undertone. I am glad there isn’t too much red or gray in it, because that could make my eyes look tired. Taupe brightens nicely, and it is very easy to pair.
Bleu Exquis (103) is a navy blue. It is shimmery as well, but much less so than Taupe. It is as beautifully complex as Chanel Apparition Illusion d’Ombre, which also flashes violet at certain angles. It is intense, but at the same time it is bright enough not to look flat or foreboding.
Here is how Taupe and Bleu Exquis swatch:
Formula-wise, again, if you’re looking for something very creamy, you might be disappointed with these. They aren’t hard (you won’t feel like you’re poking your eyes out with them), but they don’t glide on or practically melt upon contact with skin like some of the other eyeliners I have tried. With that said however, this formula stays put better on me than its creamier counterparts. Even without a primer, I can get them to stay all day on my lower lash line. Bleu Exquis even hangs in on my waterline for the better part of the day, and none of them smudges at all! I am personally willing to trade creaminess with lasting power!
I wore Bleu Exquis here with Chanel Apparition Illusion d’Ombre:
Here you can see Taupe on my lower lash line:
Bottom line: Yes please! Both Chanel Taupe and Bleu Exquis Stylo Yeux Waterproofs are colors that will work on a variety of skin tones, and the formula works well for me. Especially if you like taupe, check Taupe out before it’s gone!
Does any of these speak to you? Do you have a favorite taupe or navy blue eyeliner?
