By now, even those of us who didn’t know what Archie’s Girls is all about are more than aware of the comic series with MAC Archie’s Girls Collection. The collection will be available in Belgium on March 2nd (both in the stores and online), and today I have Spoiled Rich Eyeshadow Palette (RRP in Belgium: 41,50 euros) from Veronica to show you!
MAC Spoiled Rich Eyeshadow Palette comes in special Archie’s Girls packaging. It is rather hefty, and it snaps shut securely.
Here I’m holding it in my hands so you can see roughly how big it is.
Spoiled Rich is a quad that is made to create purple smokey eyes.
The first shade on the left, Pin-Up Purple, is a pink lavender with tiny silver shimmer and a sheen. This shade performs the best out of the four. It is pretty smooth and pigmented. The second shade, Spoiled Rich, is a red-based purple with tiny shimmer, though once on the lids I don’t see the shimmer at all. The quality of this shade is fair. It’s fairly pigmented when swatched, but for some reason I had to pack it on a little on my lids. The third shade, Ron Ron Run, is a blackened blue-based purple. It also contains shimmer that gets lost between the pan and the lids. Ron Ron Run has a drier texture. It swatches fairly well, but it tends to look patchy on the lids (you will see that in the close-up). I think the most time-consuming part about using this quad is trying to smooth this shade out. Last but not least, we have Gravel. Gravel is a matte darkened gray that seems to have a bit of a blackened-olive tinge when swatched. It is also on the drier side, and it takes some building-up to achieve opacity in the swatch. This shade does not blend easily, so it’s fine if you want to use it on your lower lash line, but you might want to use a fluffier brush and a light hand in the crease.
Here is how Spoiled Rich swatches:
For the look, I used Pin-Up Purple in the inner third, Spoiled Rich on the middle third, Ron Ron Run on the outer third, and Gravel on my outer v as well as going over Urban Decay Rockstar 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil on my lower lash line. I highlighted my inner corners with MAC All That Glitters. I have Diorshow Art Pen on my upper lash line and waterline, MAC Lovecloud Blush on my cheeks (limited edition from last year), and Chanel Fantasque Rouge Allure on my lips.
You can maybe see how the look is not as well-blended as I would like, but I really tried!
Bottom line: Purple is a tough shade to make. While MAC Spoiled Rich has a great color combination for a purple smokey eye, I wish Ron Ron Run and Gravel were more smooth and blendable. If you sport purple smokey eyes often and have some patience to work with the quad, it is doable. If not, then check out some of the great purply eyeshadows in MAC‘s permanent line-up. My favorite? Satellite Dreams!
In other news: guess who got her makeup organized? I finally bit the bullet and got it done! For the past few days, I have been thoroughly enjoying having everything at my fingertips instead of having it scattered in 5 different places around the house. I can now do more comprehensive comparisons as well as switching things up with everything in my stash.
Naturally, Tango felt the need to claim his territory the second everything was finished:
What do you think? Did you or will you be picking up MAC Spoiled Rich? What was the last limited edition MAC product you purchased?
