This week probably has to be named the subtle eyeshadow appreciation week on Mostly Sunny. I’m showing you Hourglass Suede Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo today, and it can hardly get more subtle than this!
I’m no stranger to Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duos. Since I blogged about Exhibition not so long ago, I am not going into detail about the packaging here. I remain a fan of the enclosed brush. I sometimes use it for my inner corners/lower lash line.
Hourglass Suede Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo consists of a light champagne beige with satin finish and an ever-so-slightly shimmery fawn (I really want to call it a taupe, but it doesn’t have enough gray in it to be one). As what you can reasonably expect from Hourglass, both shades are creamy, smooth, and pigmented. Despite the fact that they do contain some shimmer, it catches light in an extremely subtle way. I can use the light champagne beige all the way to my brow bones as a base (which says a lot because I normally avoid putting anything all the way up to my brow bones), or as a wash of color on the inner half of my lids. The fawn is a great natural-looking contouring shade. I have used it all over my main lids (below my socket line) as well.
Here is the swatch:
You have seen Suede used as a regular duo in this look:
In my Valentine’s Day look I used the lighter shade all the way to my brow bones, and the darker shade on my main lids. It’s hard to really see the colors here since the goal is to have something really blended, but still:
Bottom line: Do you need Hourglass Suede? You know me. I almost never tell you that you need anything. Is it something you would appreciate once you have seen a lot of neutrals? Yes. The quality is typically Hourglass, and it is versatile in a different sense. You won’t get a smokey eye out of this duo alone, but as base shades they will help everything blend and give the look dimension you would not otherwise have.
Too subtle for you or right up your alley? Have you tried anything from Hourglass after my constant pestering?

PS; If you live where Hourglass counters are not available, Zuneta carries the brand. Until March 11th, you can get 15 GBP off purchase over 50 GBP with code SPRING (don’t even ask me what’s on my wish list. You’ll spend the better part of your day hearing about it)!
