A while ago I showed you a sneak peek of two new Lancome Hypnose Palettes (in case you missed out, check out the post here), and today I’m showing you the look and final verdict of the purple palette, Reflet d’Améthyste!
My first impression of Reflet d’Améthyste wasn’t all that positive. The two biggest shades contain micro glitter, and the lightest shade has very weak color payoff.
When I used it for the look however, I realized there is only one trouble-maker in the palette: the lightest shade. The shade on the left (the first one you see in the swatch) turned out to be fall-out free despite the fact that it contains some micro-glitter. The lightest shade however, basically leaves some micro-glitter behind and no color. Do note that even this one produces no subsequent fallout, which really surprised me!
For the look I used the shade on the left (first in the swatch) for the inner half of my lids, the one in the middle (third in the swatch) for the outer half, the bottom shade (fourth in the swatch) lightly blended over the crease, the lightest shade (fifth in the swatch) in the inner corners, and the darkest shade (second in the swatch) over Urban Decay Rockstar 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil on my lower lash line.
For the rest of my face, I used Estee Lauder Peach Passion Pure Color Blush on my cheeks, and Guerlain Gabrielle Rouge G on my lips.
Bottom line: While I am more impressed with how Lancome Reflet d’Améthyste Hypnose Palette performs on the lids than how it swatches, the fact that the lightest shade has next to no color payoff is the sore point here. If it were a great shade, this palette would be much more versatile (because you can use that as the main lid shade to tone down the purple when you don’t want obvious colors), but it really drags the value of this palette down. Both shades that contain micro-glitter produce no subsequent fallout (the purple one produces no fallout at all), which is a pleasant surprise.
Now that you have seen how it looks, what do you think of Lancome Reflet d’Améthyste Hypnose Palette? Technically speaking these palettes should be available already, though I haven’t seen them around. Have you spotted them in your area?
