If I were to rewrite the story of Cinderella, the first thing the fairy godmother produces with her wand would be Diorshow Iconic Overcurl. After all, what can be more discreetly seductive than long, voluminous, soft, and fluttery lashes? I got my tube as a gift with purchase a little more than two weeks ago, and it has been incorporated straight into my routine!
(Also pictured: Diorshow Art Pen that will be reviewed very soon)
I’m going to cut through the technological aspect of the formula and just tell you that Diorshow Iconic Overcurl promises curl and volume. The most special thing is the brush, which supposedly mimics hair and lash-curling tools. I love how the brush “scoops” my lashes up. From what I can remember, the only other brush that has the same “scooping effect” (yes I coined that term) is my sample tube of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara (I have to specify what I owned was a sample tube because the real deal has a different-looking brush). Call it a coincidence, it’s another mascara that can achieve the rare “fluttery” effect.
Here you can see a close-up of the brush. I like how fast it can get the job done as well. I remain impressed with Diorshow New Look (it’s wonderful for my non-existent fuzz for bottom lashes), but the tiny brush requires a little more patience.
Ta-da! Here you see my bare lashes (curled), one coat of Diorshow Iconic Overcurl on my upper lashes, and two coats of Diorshow Iconic Overcurl on my upper lashes and one on my bottom ones. The eye swatch was done without my beloved Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum, so things can definitely get even better!
Not only does this baby hold curls like a champion, it volumizes and lengthens well, doesn’t smudge or clump, and can be easily removed (with warm water or just a micellar water). I love how “fluttery” my lashes are with Diorshow Iconic Overcurl. With most mascaras, even if they lengthen and volumize well, my lashes wouldn’t look so natural and fluttery. Instead, they would look more like they had some kind of extension if you know what I mean. With Diorshow Iconic Overcurl however, it just seems like my eyelashes were naturally this soft and fluttery. It gives me lashes I didn’t know I had!
A little tip: if you have just got your tube and think the mascara makes your lashes stick together a little, don’t give up on it. It took mine around a week to 10 days to reach its current consistency which I am more than pleased with. As you can see my lashes aren’t stuck together!
Bottom line: Diorshow Iconic Overcurl has definitely raised my mascara expectations. I have shared many good mascaras with you here (click on the mascara tag to see what other mascaras I have reviewed and looked at the pictures. You’ll know what I mean), but this one truly stands out in the crowd. If you have the opportunity to get a sample tube as gift with purchase, seize your chance and I hope your lashes will flutter as happily as mine!
Have you tried Diorshow Iconic Overcurl or any Dior mascara/lash primer? Are you as impressed?
