I have been super excited about this round’s Lipstick Bandits collaboration ever since we settled on the topic. If you’ve been around for a while, you might have noticed I have a thing for corals. A pretty big thing. With the weather getting warmer, the obsession is getting out control. Sometimes I wonder if people are tired of seeing one coral after another on me, but I just can’t stop myself from hauling more!
So why did what I thought would be a piece of cake turn out pretty tough? Well, how do I choose? Do I choose my first coral crush (Guerlain Nahema Rouge Automatique. You have seen it more recently here with its namesake nail polish)? Do I go for my favorite coral this season (Chanel La Favorite Rouge Allure Velvet)? How about something from a newer line (NARS Lodhi Satin Lip Pencil)? At the end however, I decided to do something I don’t normally do: I was aiming at getting a pretty combination by layering a coral gloss over a coral lipstick!
My undertone is a magnet for all the orange there is in a shade. Since coral by definition is a mixture of orange and pink, very often I wish the coral pieces I own would look just a bit pinker on myself. I have very recently come across a coral pink gloss in Guerlain Candy Strip Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine (incidentally: it is stated as Candy Stripe in the information US bloggers received, but on the box and the information I have it is called Candy Strip), I ended up layering it on top of Tom Ford True Coral Lip Color.
I like how Candy Strip gives True Coral more of a pink kick and a lot of shine! I kept my eyes simple with Laura Mercier Sand Glow Caviar Stick Eye Colour. You’ll read about it here soon!
I am not a gloss girl (at all), but a combination like this is excellent motivation for me to play more with my existing stash!
Before you go, don’t forget to check out my fellow bandits’ coral picks! I am so so excited to read about them, and I will no doubt put more coral lippies on my lust list!
