A while ago I introduced the new Dior Addict Glosses and Vernis to you, but little did I know things would only get better! In my excitement I ignored the fact that the four star shades, including Spring Ball, Princess, Délice, and Diablotine would also be available as both Addict Lipsticks and Addict Extremes! When they finally hit the shelves here about a week and a half ago, I naturally had to swatch them all (I put the swatch photo on the Facebook page). I picked up Spring Ball Addict Extreme, and now I have yet another matchy matchy lips and tips pair to show you!
According to Dior, the shade Spring Ball is inspired by the light and delicate radiance of Mr. Dior’s ball gowns. It is described as a soft and tender nude, but for me it’s much more than one!
Most of you might be familiar with the packaging of Dior Addict Extreme: It is identical to Dior Addict Lipsticks except for the signature navy blue color. The formula has a very faint vanilla scent, but I can’t smell it unless I really shove my nose right in front of the lipstick. It is not the sticky, gooey, and artificial type of vanilla either, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Spring Ball Addict Extreme is a soft warm pink with a dash of coral on me. True to my experience with Addict Extremes, Spring Ball has a slick, smooth, lightweight formula that packs a glossy sheen and enough pigment. The coverage is almost opaque, but you will see some translucency that lingers. It is also hydrating enough to keep my lips soft and smooth till the end of the day!
What I find the most interesting about Addict Extremes is the fact that they stain a little, and with that stain you can gradually build the color up throughout the day. Being a lighter shade, Spring Ball wears a bit shorter than average compared with more vibrant Addict Extremes on me (shades like Riviera and Plaza could last 4.5 hours for me). I would put the wear time around 3.5 hours, but do note that the more times you reapply, the more strongly it stains, so at the end the color stays around for longer.
Here is how Spring Ball swatches on me. Left: one swipe. Right: built up
A couple more photos with Spring Ball on me!
I’ve been wearing Spring Ball Vernis like nothing else exists, so I happily wore both the other day! For the rest of my face, I layered Edward Bess Cosmic Bliss and Burberry Pale Barley over Laura Mercier Sand Glow Caviar Stick Eye Colour for my eyes, and used Estee Lauder Peach Passion on my cheeks. Both the eyeshadow combo and cheek color lasted well throughout a long day!
Bottom line: I love the versatility of Dior Spring Ball Addict Extreme. While it is toned-down enough for me to wear with just my brows done, the dash of coral in there jazzes it up enough for it not to be in the nude or even my-lips-but-better category. It requires a couple of reapplications a day, but the color lasts better and becomes more vibrant with each reapplication. If you are not sure about coral, Dior Spring Ball Addict Extreme could be your first baby step. Even a coral veteran like myself could truly appreciate its easygoing beauty!
