Hey everyone, how about a short and sweet post for Monday? Last week you saw Chanel Le Baiser Rouge Coco with a color as well a formula I am crazy about. Today we’ll be going briefly through Ce Soir (51. RRP in Belgium: 31 euros), which Chanel describes as “the enigmatic style of the heroines of black and white movies.”
(Ce Soir on the left, Le Baiser on the right)
I won’t go into detail about the packaging since I did that very recently. Let me keep it simple by saying it has a very classic appeal and lovely heft!
Ce Soir is a plummy brown that has enough brown for those who can pull it off, but not so much that it can’t work on anyone else. I personally can take quite a bit of brown in my lipsticks, but when there is too much I instantly look ill. I don’t have that problem with Ce Soir.
Here is how Ce Soir swatches. Left: one pass. Right: built up
Formula-wise, Ce Soir is just as impressive as Le Baiser. It has a lightweight, creamy consistency that glides on but doesn’t move around. It is opaque with one pass and looks great applied straight out of the tube. It has the same impressive lasting power as Le Baiser. It will only be gone after a meal, but it wears off evenly and leaves a stain. What’s more, as it wears off, it will look more plum/rose than brown, which makes it a little softer.
Bottom line: Formula-wise Chanel Ce Soir Rouge Coco is just as impressive! If you enjoy a good dose of brown in your plum, do take a look at Ce Soir!
Is Ce Soir your thing?
