The Far East Meets Southern France in L’Occitane Magnolia & Mûre Eau de Toilette from La Collection de Grasse

L'Occitane La Collection de Grasse

L’Occitane is a brand that is known for its scents, and the latest La Collection de Grasse contains four fragrances that will refresh and delight the spirit! Today I have the Magnolia & Mûre (blackberry) Eau de Toilette (75ml/2.5 oz. RRP in Belgium: 55 euros) to share with you, as well as a sneak peek of two new products (including a BB cream) that are coming out in a couple of months’ time!

L'Occitane Magnolia & Mûre

The idea of L’Occitane La Collection de Grasse is combining two main ingredients from two different regions of the world in each of the four fragrances. Take Magnolia & Mûre for example, magnolia hauls from the Far East while blackberry grows in abundance in the south of France.

L'Occitane La Collection de Grasse L'Occitane Magnolia & Mûre EDT

The packaging is rather simple and sturdy. I enjoy the no-fuss approach. At the same time the heft makes it distinguished.

L'Occitane Magnolia & Mûre EDT

As luck would have it, Magnolia & Mûre turned out to be the best out of the four for me. One word: chypre! It is a fruity chypre with the blackberry giving it a sweet element. However, it is not cloying or sticky. The top notes contain bergamot and blackberry, heart notes magnolia and rose, and base notes patchouli and moss.

The eau de toilette starts out slightly tangy yet floral, and then it becomes a good mix of magnolia, blackberry, and rose. It stays easily detectable on the skin for about 3 hours and a half, and afterwards it becomes softer and softer until it’s barely there (I can still smell something on my wrist after 7 hours, but I have to look for it). That is when you get a bit of the patchouli and moss! It definitely lingers for much longer on my hair and clothes, but in that case it sticks more to the heart notes.

I have sniffed all four in the line-up, including Jasmin & BergamoteVanille & Narcisse, and Thé Vert & Bigarade. Except for maybe Vanille & Narcisse (it is richer and deeper), the other three are great summery scents. I enjoy how fresh yet sweet Magnolia & Mûre is, and for an eau de toilette it has great lasting power!

PS: For my Belgian readers, from today (24th of April) till the 28th of May, you can get a free shower gel (175 ml. RRP: 11,50 euros) of choice when you purchase a fragrance. If you buy it online, the code is GDGRASSE.

L'Occitane Sublime Beauty Cream

Also, L’Occitane is doing BB creams! If I remember it correctly, the Sublime Beauty Cream will be available in June. There are two shades (light and medium) available. I swatched them for you here:

L'Occitane Sublime Beauty Cream 01 Light, 02 Medium swatch

A silicone-free serum, Sublime Essence, will join the line-up as well:L'Occitane Sublime Essence Skin Protector

Both products smell nice and flowery, but I would caution anyone whose skin is sensitive to fragrance to do a patch test first as they do contain quite a bit of it!

Have you tried any fragrances from L’Occitane? I really enjoyed L’Occitane Eau de Vanilliers that came out in 2004. The limited edition, much sought-after fragrance is still the best example of vanilla done right for me!

Oooh, another brand that joins in on the BB cream craze ^^. I’m quite curious now, the fragrance sounds really nice and it looks pretty too!

    • Sunny

Hey Teri, virtually EVERY company has made a BB cream by now! It’s insane!

I think this one is probably too sweet for you, but check out the others!

  • http://beautiesatwork.wordpress.com/ beauties

the bb cream looks good :)

    • Sunny

You won’t have to wait long now!

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

What a beautiful collection–everything looks so light and fresh and breezy! I really don’t know why I don’t check out more of L’Occitane’s fragrances–from what I have smelled in-store, they do some really nice ones! And certainly more affordable than a lot of other scents from higher end brands. I need to try that Magnolia one for sure!

Also the BB creams looks lovely! I really like how they both lean warm–it seems like most BB creams are very pink-toned and i don’t like that :/

    • Sunny

Hey Becca, if you like light fragrances (which I imagine are perfect for Cali weather), you have to check these out! Let me know how you like Magnolia & Mûre!

I didn’t blend the BB creams enough to see how they blend into my skin tone, but you’re right about the pink (sometimes even gray!!!) tone. Unfortunately that’s something that doesn’t look good on me (us)!

I’m looking forward to the new fragrances !

    • Sunny

Hey Jill, you should sniff all of them! This one is my favorite, but the green tea one is very fresh and if you like richer scents, the vanilla is probably your thing!

  • http://mirror-reality.com/ Philippe

A BB cream? Ok now I’ve seen it all from them :)

    • Sunny

Yeah that’s what I thought. Every company and their mother has done a BB cream by now ;)

  • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.wordpress.com/ Kiss & Make-up

Magnolia and mûre? That just has to be a winning combination! I love the scent of magnolia, and with a hint of mûre it probably only gets better :-)

    • Sunny

Hey Melissa, it’s a FRUITY CHYPRE and that about seals the deal for me LOL

  • http://wandsandpliers.wordpress.com Whitney

I love fruity scents, I just purchased Marc Jacobs Daisy Sunshine, less flowery more fresh :)

I like L’Occitane’s cherry blossom scent! And that bb cream looks interesting.. Would love to buy more bb cream but it already takes me forever to use one bottle of it and one bottle of foundation!

    • Sunny

Oh yay! You go, girl! I try to stick to base products for some reason. To be honest it’s mostly because it’s more work experimenting with them than anything else haha

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

I can’t wait to sniff these. Not sure if they’re in the Canadian boutiques yet but I need to check them out ASAP! How much bergamot can you detect in the Jasmine & Bergamote? I can’t resist anything that says bergamot.

    • Sunny

Hey Liz, I hope they are or they will be soon! I can’t remember that well. Sorry! For some weird reason I remember the other three better, probably because jasmine isn’t really my thing ;)

  • http://www.nymphette.be Marijke

Ohh L’Occitane & BB Cream, sounds good! :-)

    • Sunny

Haha if you’re a fan of both it does sound promising ;)

  • http://www.pinklavenders.com Rainy Days & Lattes

BB Creams!!!! Ooh that is so cool! :) Looking forward to seeing more of this collection!

    • Sunny

Hey Jen, they’re coming out in a couple of months’ time and hopefully I’ll get some more information later!

  • http://mylucitedreams.com Taylor

Ooh! I am so curious to sniff those scents!, I love L’Occitane fragrances! I also quite curious about those BB creams! The swatches look lovely. xx

    • Sunny

Hey Taylor, you should definitely go sniff all of them! I think the same promotion is on in the US as well!

  • VickyM

This is one brand I have heard good things of but I have never tried the products they offer. If I can find it I might try it :D .

    • Sunny

Hey Vicky, you should! I like how they have smaller versions of some products for sale. That way you can always play with some before deciding how much you like them! One thing I would really recommend is the Almond Shower Oil. Don’t be scared just because it’s called oil. It’s not sticky or anything! It smells great, foams up a little, and is moisturizing. A real treat in the shower!

  • http://www.beauty-treasures.be Beauty Treasures

    Yes another BB cream :D!

    • Sunny

Haha I suppose it’s good news if you’re a fan of BB creams!
