Gotta Have It: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum

I don’t know if you guys know about Cold Stone. I won’t bore you with the details here (the mere thought of it gives me a major sugar high), but instead of calling their portions small, medium, and big like everyone else, this ice cream chain decided to call them “like it,” “love it,” and “gotta have it.” I am of course not here to discuss ice cream today, but Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum‘s new size, a whopping 200ml (6.8 oz. RRP in Belgium: 197 euros), is clearly in the “gotta have it” category for the loyal fans!

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

A while ago I received this adorable miniature as a teaser, and it was soon joined by its much bigger sister.

(See just how much bigger it is?)

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

Out of sheer curiosity, I weighed the bottle: it’s a bit more than half a kilo (about one pound)! I have pretty big hands so I can still pick the bottle up comfortably enough. For those whose hands are small however, it might involve a little extra effort. The packaging is very classic and Chanel. I especially love the texture of the cap!

Chanel dubs Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum as a fresh Oriental perfume, but it is more of a floral chypre for me. It has been around since 2001 (12 years now). The top notes include orange (from Sicily) and bergamot (from Calabre). These aren’t too sharp at all, which is great in my book because when citrus notes are too prominent, they forcefully remind me of cleaning products. The heart notes are rose and jasmine absolutes. It is a good blend where nothing is too dominant and it stays feminine and fresh.  The base notes get even more interesting with patchouli (from Indonesia), vetiver (from Haiti), Bourbon vanilla, and white musk. Besides being a big fan of three out of the four notes (I am rather neutral about musk notes), I like the balance here. If the vanilla were too strong, it could be really sweet. If the patchouli or vetiver were too strong, it could be really green/earthy. Instead, everything is just very sensual and put-together!

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum 200ml

Since this is an eau de parfum, it has some real lasting power. I can still sniff it on myself the next day, as some of it would inevitably get on my hair! In other words, if you spray this on in the morning, you most probably won’t have to worry about it disappearing on you at the end of the day.

While the 200ml bottle is probably not something everyone would get (just so you know though, it definitely works out cheaper by milliliter), why not try Chanel Coco Mademoiselle on next time you are in a perfumery? For me this is a floral chypre with depth, youthful yet classy. If you have a friend who is a fan of the fragrance, this would make a wonderful present she will enjoy for at least a couple of years!

Have you sniffed Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum? Would you buy any perfume in such a big bottle?

LOL that is HUGE! I like the sounds of this scent! I hate when citrus is too prominent too.
And no, I don’t think I’d buy such a big bottle haha! It takes me forever already to use one up!

    • Sunny

I know! I’ve owned my 100ml bottle of Miss Dior EDT for more than 2 years now and it’s still got a third left! It’s my MAIN perfume so I think this one will still be around when I’m 39 LOL

  • http://www.bellachique.be Teri

Hah, this is fun ^^. I’m sad to say that I don’t like the scent on me tho, please don’t hate me! Maybe it’s still growing on me, I don’t know. I love it on others tho!

    • Sunny

Aww fragrance is super personal so I understand! A lot of the really light/fresh stuff just smells sour on me, so to each her own ;)

that mini is the cutest thing ever!

    • Sunny

      I know!!! It’s ridiculously adorable!

I want that mini so baaaaaad! It’s just so pretty and cute it’s ridiculous.

    • Sunny

I know! I really wish Chanel made it a GWP!

      • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.wordpress.com/ Kiss & Make-up

Yes! And then they should send it to me.

        ;-)

OMG that bottle is insane!! But I know some people swear by Coco M so it’s good that they have options, LOL.

    • Sunny

Haha I know! Chanel has launched many of their scents in the 200ml version recently. If you can reasonably see yourself with any of those for the next couple of years, it’s a nice investment!

  • Rachel

That mini is the most adorable little thing. I want one! I’d still be out of luck even if they made it a GWP though, since I just opened a new bottle. Even when I wear it every day the regular size still lasts a long time. This new one is just huge!

    • Sunny

Hey Rachel, sorry but it’s not a GWP :( Such a big bottle works out cheaper by milliliter, but you have to really love the scent to get one!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

Hahahah holy cow that is ginormous! I have to stick to smaller bottles because I’m fickle and like to have a lot of different ones. I’ve never smelled this one, though.

    • Sunny

It really is! You should check the scent out. It’s a floral chypre so it’s good in my book!

The perfect gift for true fans! And beautiful just to look at!

    • Sunny

Yeah if anyone wears this as her signature scent I can imagine she’ll be really pleased with it!

This has become such a classic Chanel fragrance. I love it but unfortunately my skin doesn’t react well to it. It’s such a youthful but elegant scent. I struggle to finish a 100ml bottle…even if I use it often – like a few times a week. I managed to get a 100ml bottle down to a small amount in 5 years but it went bad so I tossed it out. One must really love this perfume to buy a 200ml version and use it everyday before it spoils.

    • Sunny

Hey Yu Ming, I know what you mean! Sometimes I really like a scent on someone else, but on myself it’s a no-go! Even with daily use, it’s hard to use up a 100ml bottle for me. This thing will for sure last for years, and my heart will most probably be a bit broken when it goes bad! Let’s hope it doesn’t happen too soon!

My favorite favorite perfume EVER. The little one is soo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AH!

    • Sunny

OOO so you’d be the ideal recipient of the gigantic bottle! :)

  • http://myhighestselfblog.com/ Tina @ My Highest Self

I don’t know if I would love the fragrance but that mini bottle is adorable!!

    • Sunny

Yeah I love it (it’s a chypre so duh), but I know not everyone is a fan! Fragrance is so personal!

  • Yee

OMG *drools at the miniature version*. Coco Mademoiselle’s my go to fragrance. It’s the first fragrance that I bought :) A friend let me try hers a few years back and I loved it and thought it had great staying power, but when I bought my very own, hmm…staying power’s not as great as I remembered? I only have a 50ml version, and with 5 spritzes per week average (ahh the fresh scent every morning is wonderful!), it still has about a quarter left after just a little over a year. I heard from a friend though that if you don’t use it for some time, it sort of goes bad.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Yee, did you get the EDT version by accident? The EDP version lasts really well on me, so I’m just wondering! Any perfume would go bad eventually, but it usually takes years so I wouldn’t worry too much about that!

      • Yee

Hello again! Nope, it’s definitely an EDP. I have a small sample vial of the EDT, and I noticed that the heart notes smell much sweeter compared to the EDP! Perhaps the decreased staying power’s cos of the icky sweat? I do live somewhere with a tropical climate…it does get quite hot here >.<

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Yee, the weather most probably plays a part too! I’m so sorry to hear it’s not as long-lasting as you had hoped it would be. If you really like the scent you can always decant it and carry some with you though!

    This is so freaking darling!!

      I know! Such a cutie :)
