Some of the most lust-worthy pieces in Chanel L’Été Papillon de Chanel collection include the nail polishes. Together, Lilis (647), Azuré (657), and Bel-Argus Le Vernis (667. RRP in Belgium: 23 euros) remind me of the butterflies back home (for those of you who have never seen a tropical butterfly, think big and colorful)!
Aren’t they really pretty lined up next to one another?
Lilis (647) is a tangerine-heavy coral. The formula is excellent. It is smooth and opaque with one coat, and the consistency is easy to work with.
Here is how Lilis looks next to my face:
Azuré (657) seems like the shade everyone is after! This metallic teal has a strong duochrome effect. When I shift my fingertips, it goes from teal to blue! It’s an exquisite shade, and I suspect many companies will try to dupe it. The consistency is on the thinner side, and with the thinner brush it takes a little more patience to make it even. The drying time is also slower than average, so I wouldn’t recommend painting your nails with this when you are in a hurry! Since the finish is strongly metallic, it is also somehow streaky. It will depend on whether you think the shade itself makes up for that!
If you compare how Azuré looks like on my index finger and the rest, you will see the duochrome effect I’m talking about. It is absolutely stunning in real life, and I constantly get distracted by my own nails!
As usual, the “big picture” so you can gauge how it looks from the normal viewing distance:
Last but not least, we have Bel-Argus. When I first saw the promo images, I didn’t think too much about it. Sure it looks nice, but I might have something similar in my stash already. The minute I put it on my nails however, I could see it brings a lot more to the table!
Bel-Argus (667) is a metallic darker blue. It is less metallic than Azuré, so the finish is less streaky. It is also easier to work with. Bel-Argus also has a duochrome effect, albeit a weaker one. When I shift my fingertips the right way, I can see a royal purple sheen to it! Unfortunately it is very difficult to capture in photos. You might have to try it on at the counter and see for yourself!
Here you see Bel-Argus from a distance:
I have Chanel Blue Bay Stylo Eyeshadow all over my lids, with a bit of Chanel Notorious blended into my crease to add depth. I used Chanel Rose Initiale on my cheeks, and dabbed Chanel Envolée over Edward Bess Island Blossom (reviews for both coming up soon).
Which one of these is your favorite? Did you pick anything up, or are you picking anything up soon?
