Imagine Having a Butterfly Resting on Your Fingertips with Chanel Lilis, Azuré, & Bel-Argus Le Vernis!

Chanel Bel-Argus NOTD

Some of the most lust-worthy pieces in Chanel L’Été Papillon de Chanel collection include the nail polishes. Together, Lilis (647), Azuré (657), and Bel-Argus Le Vernis (667. RRP in Belgium: 23 euros) remind me of the butterflies back home (for those of you who have never seen a tropical butterfly, think big and colorful)!

Aren’t they really pretty lined up next to one another?

Chanel Lilis (647) Le Vernis closeup

Lilis (647) is a tangerine-heavy coral. The formula is excellent. It is smooth and opaque with one coat, and the consistency is easy to work with.

Here is how Lilis looks next to my face:

Chanel Azuré (657) Le Vernis closeup

Azuré (657) seems like the shade everyone is after! This metallic teal has a strong duochrome effect. When I shift my fingertips, it goes from teal to blue! It’s an exquisite shade, and I suspect many companies will try to dupe it. The consistency is on the thinner side, and with the thinner brush it takes a little more patience to make it even. The drying time is also slower than average, so I wouldn’t recommend painting your nails with this when you are in a hurry! Since the finish is strongly metallic, it is also somehow streaky. It will depend on whether you think the shade itself makes up for that!

If you compare how Azuré looks like on my index finger and the rest, you will see the duochrome effect I’m talking about. It is absolutely stunning in real life, and I constantly get distracted by my own nails!

As usual, the “big picture” so you can gauge how it looks from the normal viewing distance:

Chanel Azuré NOTD

Last but not least, we have Bel-Argus. When I first saw the promo images, I didn’t think too much about it. Sure it looks nice, but I might have something similar in my stash already. The minute I put it on my nails however, I could see it brings a lot more to the table!

Chanel Bel-Argus (667) closeup

Bel-Argus (667) is a metallic darker blue. It is less metallic than Azuré, so the finish is less streaky. It is also easier to work with. Bel-Argus also has a duochrome effect, albeit a weaker one. When I shift my fingertips the right way, I can see a royal purple sheen to it! Unfortunately it is very difficult to capture in photos. You might have to try it on at the counter and see for yourself!

Chanel Blue Bay Stylo Eyeshadow FOTD

Chanel Bel-Argus NOTD

I have Chanel Blue Bay Stylo Eyeshadow all over my lids, with a bit of Chanel Notorious blended into my crease to add depth. I used Chanel Rose Initiale on my cheeks, and dabbed Chanel Envolée over Edward Bess Island Blossom (reviews for both coming up soon).

Which one of these is your favorite? Did you pick anything up, or are you picking anything up soon?

Wow, lilis looks so much more orange on you, the difference is huge! I really love all the colours of this collection, it’s just so pretty!

    • Sunny

Yeah you know the story with my skin tone. It doesn’t really look like a full-on orange in real life (less so than Guerlain Nahema), but it’s true that it’ll look pinker on everyone else!

  • http://beautyreflectionsblog.com Tracy@Beauty Reflections

Wow! All three are really pretty! I really like the teal one a lot!

    • Sunny

I think Azure is the most unique out of the bunch!

  • Anne

Azuré! *flails* Bel Argus didn’t draw much attention for me before, but it sure looks gorgeous on you. I think I’ll still settle with Azuré, but I may have to try Bel Argus at the counter!

    • Sunny

Hey Anne, I didn’t think much about Bel-Argus till I tried it on either! Then I saw the subtle duochrome effect so… Swatch it!

  • http://aucupariabrumalis.wordpress.com Claire

Those nail polishes are pretty! Can’t wait to pick up mine :D I love the chrome finish a lot, love you paired it with the e/s looks. It’s nice to see some colours from chanal, like blue, etc. I am in the mood to swatch everything now >.<

    • Sunny

Thanks, Claire! I can’t wait to see what you’re picking up!

  • http://beautiesatwork.wordpress.com/ beauties

absolutely in love with Lilis :)

    • Sunny

Yaaay good to know! I think it’s cheerful but still office-friendly.

  • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.wordpress.com/ Kiss & Make-up

I guess that by now you know that I have a soft spot for coral pinks and oranges, so I bet it’s no surprise that Lilis is my favorite! :-)

    • Sunny

Haha join the club! Lilis does have a great formula too!

  • http://nails.blogmesin.com Rabbit

    All three are GORGEOUS! :)

    • Sunny

I bet you can do cool nail art with them!

  • http://www.strawberryblondebeauty.com/ Nic @Strawbry_Blonde

Oh scrummy! I like Bel-Argus best by a mile (other than the name – what’s that about?)

    Nic

    • Sunny

Haha, no idea! I tried but I don’t think it means anything!

  • http://drebru.com/?lang=en ChicScience

Blue looks beautiful on you and your eyes!! Perfection X :)

    • Sunny

      Aww thanks!

  • http://www.beautyandthings.com/ kerker

Love Bel-Argus!! Such a pretty blue.

    • Sunny

Yup! Try it on one nail and see if you can spot the subtle royal purple duochrome effect!

  • http://www.deltacephei.nl Suzanne

    Ze zijn awesome!

    • Sunny

      Totally agree!

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com Isabelle

Oh those last two are gorgeous! I believe I have two similar shades by Givenchy.. The island ones from a few years back. Stunning! :)

    • Sunny

I thought Bel-Argus might be similar with some shades I have in my stash, but after seeing it in person I don’t think I do!

  • http://wade-ashore.blogspot.com Caise

    the last one is goooorgeous!

    • Sunny

Thanks, Daria! I like Bel-Argus for the subtle duochrome effect, and the fact that the consistency is pretty easy to work with!

  • http://procrastinatingpretty.blogspot.com Procrastinator

I think the last time I fell so hard for nail polishes was with the Khaki collection…I’m dying over Azure and Bel Argus!

    • Sunny

OOO yeah I know what you’re talking about! You should definitely take a look at these!

  • http://icarias.blogspot.ca Icaria

Love Lilis and could easily imagine Bel-Argus tickeling my toes! Chanel Blue Bay looks positively stunning on you!

    • Sunny

Thanks, Helene! I seldom do metallic on my toes, but I should try!

  • http://www.nymphette.be Marijke

    I love the blue one!!

    • Sunny

Hey Marijke, you should take a look when the collection becomes available tomorrow!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

    Gah. I need Bel-Argus.

    • Sunny

Act fast, Larie! I’m saying it won’t take long for these to be sold out!

  • http://www.valleydollbeautyblog.blogspot.com ValleyDoll

Pretty shades ! Though I’m honestly not the metallic kinda gal.

    • Sunny

Hey Eva, metallic is probably not my favorite finish either, but DUOCHROME is and both Azure and Bel-Argus are duochrome ;)

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com Catherine (@bcrueltyfree)

Oh my gosh, how completely gorgeous are the matching nails and eyes photos. I love the blue shadow on you – and I’m rarely a fan of blue shadow!

    • Sunny

Aww thanks, Catherine! I wouldn’t say blue is my favorite eyeshadow color, but some do work OK on me!

  • Tigerlily

Bel Argus and Azuré look fantastic… What an amazing shine they have! It almost looks like they were Photoshopped on your nails o_0

    • Sunny

Hey Tigerlily, nope that’s just how they look! They’re both rather metallic, so they reflect a lot of light!

  • http://www.pinklavenders.com Rainy Days & Lattes

The collection is really nice! I particularly love that bright orange and the sensual looking blue :)

    • Sunny

I agree! I think Lilis might be a bit more coral on others. On me it’s not a straight tangerine, but my skin tone does seem to pull all the tangerine out!

  • VickyM

This nail polishes are so pretty :D ! I just came back from the Chanel counter just now, and dear do I love Azure, it´s gorgeous. I did swatch them, but only had budget for one item on me, so I compared Pygmalion Coco shine with Suspense Coco shine and Suspense just came victoriously home with me :D .
I really like the stylo shadows particularly the neutral ones and Azure… I really want Azure at least, I hate my poverty, I still haven´t graduated from college completely :( I need someone to buy Azure for me.

    • Sunny

Hey Vicky, I’m glad to hear you got Suspense! I have to swatch Pygmalion tomorrow (when the collection launches here). It looks like a nice shade!

Aww I understand it’s hard to afford Chanel with a student budget. My theory is some companies will try to dupe Azure, like what they did with Peridot. If you don’t mind waiting, you might be able to score something similar later!

  • http://www.themakeupfile.com Jasmine

I LOVE the way they pop against your face Sunny! So bright and cheery!

    • Sunny

      Aww thanks, Jasmine!

  • http://mylucitedreams.com Taylor

Oh no, do I need Bel argus now! It’s so beautiful. I wore a similar blue shade years ago, it was a fave. Well I’m sure it’s not that similar but it still speaks to me. All the shades are lovely and look beautiful on you :-)

    • Sunny

Haha you should swatch Bel-Argus because at certain angles it has this nice royal purple sheen that I can’t capture in photos. It’s subtle, but it’s definitely there!

  • http://beautycabby.com lyn

They all look gorgeous on you! I especially like both the blue nail polishes and can’t wait for these to arrive :-)

    • Sunny

Thanks, Lyn! I can’t wait to see which one(s) you’ll pick up!

  • http://miaka-mylife.blogspot.com/ Ruby

I would go for both Azure and bel argus, because I can’t decide which one I like better. haha

    • Sunny

Haha yeah it’s a really tough choice. I like the formula of Bel-Argus better, but Azure is quite a strong duochrome and I find it hard to resist!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

They’re gorgeous and I would definitely get the entire trio if I had an income right now. :)

Btw, blues and corals together look awesome on you, Sunny!

    • Sunny

Aww well you might still be able to pick one or two up?

      Thanks Liz :)

  • http://www.unprofessionalbeautyblog.com Angela @ The Unprofessional Beauty Blog

I don’t usually like to buy expansive nail polishes, but I may seriously consider getting Azuré. It’s such a gorgeous and unique shade.

    • Sunny

I understand! I think it’s “worth it” if you pick out shades that are more unique, and that you love and will wear often though!

  • Dominique

When I see your swatches ( beautiful ! ) I think I need the 3 and everyone should pick up the 3 because it is worth getting the trio ! They are simply gorgeous, thinking back of the spring trio Emprise/Fracas/Accessoire, well this summer one is far, far prettier ! :)

    • Sunny

Hey Dominique, I actually still REALLY like Fracas! Well I like all three, but Fracas is a very me shade. The summer ones are harder to dupe I’d say!

  • Dominique

Yes the spring ones are easily wearable and also dupable, Fracas looks bright ! The summer ones are to die for, the collection is soon available here !

  • http://twitter.com/lifesentropy Jane Candor

Azure looks GORGEOUS on you! I’m not for blue nail polishes but this has changed my mind. Hopefully I’ll find an alternative; if not, I’ll have to drop the $28, yikes!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Jane! You might be able to find similar shades out there, but the duochrome effect of Azure seems rather unique to me!
