Some PIXI(e)s Come Prepared: PIXI Sage Gold Endless Silky Eye Pen, Straight on till Morning Liner, & Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster

PIXI Endless Silky Eye Pen FOTD

After some of my favorite bloggers raved about PIXI Endless Silky Eye Pens (hey Kate! Hi Emi!), my curiosity got the better of me. I grabbed Sage Gold from ASOS when it was on sale, and as luck would have it, received some PIXI samples soon afterwards. Today I’ll show you PIXI Sage Gold Endless Silky Eye Pen, Straight on till Morning Liner, and Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster!

The two samples I received (Straight on till Morning Liner and Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster) are from the Tinkerbell collection. I have been a fan of her ever since I was a little kid, because she is one of the rare Disney “good” characters that display negative emotions honestly. I mean, why smile an pretend everything is fine when you can flip out and storm out (that’s a joke)?

It is no secret that khaki is one of my favorite shades, so the greedy hoarder in me is so happy to end up with both PIXI Sage Gold Endless Silky Eye Pen and Straight on till Morning Liner. As you will see however, you probably don’t need both!

PIXI eyeliners have a special gel formula. They promise to be long-lasting, waterproof, and easy to glide on. Both pencils are extremely soft, and they glide onto the skin like air. It takes them about 20 seconds to completely dry down, but once they dry they’re there for good! They can be easily removed with a micellar water, so there won’t be a bloody battle before bedtime! A small tip: if you want to go over the same line again, do wait for it to dry down first. Otherwise, you could end up scraping some product away!

I would go as far as to saying this is probably my favorite pencil formula to date. I have tried some very creamy pencils that last well. However, most smudge on the outer corners after 8-9 hours, and they aren’t as lightweight. Once these two dry down, they have a very glossy, sparkling finish that I haven’t really seen anywhere else!

Here is a closeup of Sage Gold and Straight on till Morning. As big of a fan as I am of gold/khaki shades, you can probably see why I said you don’t need both!

Here is how they swatch, both one pass and built up:

I would say Straight on till Morning has more (and bigger) sparkling gold particle, but I have worn one on each eye and the difference is minimal. Sadly they aren’t perfect for waterline. I am not sure if it’s the shimmer in them, but my eyes get a little irritated. Do take it with a pinch of salt however, as I haven’t encountered one single product that stays put on my waterline without triggering some sort of reaction!

Also, for the khaki gold eyeliner enthusiasts, here is a comparison swatch of PIXI Sage Gold, Straight on till Morning Liner, and Urban Decay Stash:

The PIXI ones contain more sparkle, and they have a glossy finish that you don’t see in Stash. Even if you own Stash already, I don’t think getting either would be redundant!

PIXI Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster

PIXI Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster is a loose eyeshadow/pigment packed in a more user-friendly and fuss-free packaging. You can use it anywhere you want some sparkle, for example the inner corners of your eyes.

PIXI Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster applicator

The idea of the packaging is great. Even if you are afraid of loose pigment, you should be able to navigate with no problem. However, I find that the applicator is a little too big for my inner corners (but then again my eyes are not big, so this is not necessarily a problem everyone will have). Also, it picks up a little too much product. I would suggest you tap off the excess to avoid fallout, but it wastes some product in the process, and you’ll end up with some “fairy dust” on your vanity.

Here is how Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster swatches. It is a little too sheer to be a good lid shade when it is blended out, which is also a pity because it is less versatile that way.

For the look, I used Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster in the inner corners and one liner on each eye on my bottom lash line (you really can’t tell):

For the rest of my eyes, I have Bobbi Brown Forest Shimmer Ink on my upper lash line, Rouge Bunny Rouge Embrace of Cashmere Loose Glitter Pigment on the inner half of my lids (it will be reviewed soon. The packaging is similar to Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster, but it is executed better), and Bobbi Brown Wheat on the outer half of my lids. I used Illmasqua Katie/Ambition Powder Blusher Duo on my cheeks, and NARS Montego Bay Pure Matte Lipstick on my lips (review for both coming up soon).

I have also used both liners here for this look:

Bottom line: I would highly recommend PIXI Sage Gold Endless Silky Eye Pen and Straight on till Morning Liner to anyone who likes a good eyeliner. They glide on like air, deposit a generous amount of pigment, dry down to last all day with no smudging. There are 10 shades in total, just in case golden khaki isn’t your thing! Fairy Dust Moonlight Luster on the other hand, has some room for improvement. I wish the applicator were be easier to use, and the shade were more opaque when it is blended out!

Have you tried anything from PIXI? Is there anything else you would recommend?

Haven’t tried anything from Pixi but that liner. Thought it looked familier 😛

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha yeah, this is the problem with beauty-blogging. You read about something, and then you want it too!

  • beauties

nice pigmentation :) I only have one pixi item, also from the tinkerbell collection

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      It’s oh-so-smooth!

  • amoorie

I own the two products of the Tinkerbell collection and hand’t used any product of PIXI before. And I have to say: extremely good make-up. The eyeliner is really easy to put on and even though it’s smooth (I was afraid it would transfer/stamp just above my crease, but it doesn’t! It’s my eyeliner on the go as it’s really easy to apply and gives my eyes an instant boost (I guess it’s the glitters :-)). I’m using the fairy dust in the inner corners and it’s true that the applicator is a bit to big. But to prevent having dust all over the place I use a really small brush to apply it in the inner corners. Works like a charm. Lovely post, Sunny!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Amaury, glad to hear you love the liner as well! I have to use some of mine up before I buy more of them, but I definitely will!

  • Teri

Those two look really close to eachother, love them both tho! I didn’t know they were on sale on Asos, darn it! Do you love these more than the UD ones?

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Teri, these stay better on my lower lash line than UD ones! They really really set. I’m fine with UD ones. If I smudge them out with some eyeshadow, I can go through 9 hours with no smudging. These on the other hand, even if I don’t set them with anything, they’re good all day!

  • Icaria

This brand is not available in my area but I know it’s coming soon. It’ll be fun to explore it! :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, lucky you! This is yet another brand that I only have access to online. Keep me posted about what you think!

  • Catherine

The fairy dust isn’t really for me, but the liner color is just GORGEOUS. I feel like Pixi is a brand I don’t see much about but has a lot of good products. I have one of their eyeliners in black and that thing stays put like nothing I have ever used before… I only use it when I need serious staying power (and don’t mind the extra time it takes to remove!)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Catherine, I’m still wondering if I should try their black pencil liner at some point. I’m not sure if my waterline dislikes an ingredient in the formula or just the shimmer. I’ll think about it when I use up one of the black pencils I currently own!

  • Liz

They finally showed up at the new Canadian Targets and maybe I’ll play with them someday. But I find the packaging to look rather flimsy in general and too cutesy for my liking. The liners look lovely but I don’t wear pencil liners anymore – at least not in the summer when they melt off regardless of how great the formula is supposed to be.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh yaaay! That’s great news, Liz! You should check the line out! PIXI is unfortunately unavailable here. I have to do research and get what I want online!

  • MyLuciteDreams

Cute packaging! The liner looks lovely, so very much your shade. I’m not familiar with Pixi, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the brand. Ill have to check it out if I ever come across them.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Taylor! I think PIXI is available at Target. Some bloggers were telling me you can sometimes find a pretty good coupon as well! Make sure you keep an eye out for that!

  • Krystle Kouture

I really want to try their liners. I can’t get anything to last on my waterline more than 2 or 3 hours! Love that these are gel based.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Krystle, this formula doesn’t really work for my waterline, either. My waterline seems to be allergic to everything I try to put on it. That or it gets rid of it really fast!

  • Caise

pretty packagings! I need to try PIXI eyeliner:)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Daria, you should! It’s reasonably-priced as well, which is always good!

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

Oh wow you were right–I can’t really tell the 2 Pixi liners apart at all! They are both gorgeous though! I remember Kate was raving about these and compared them even the the THREE Flash liners that I wanted so badly so I really need to give these a try already. Also really impressive if it’s one of your favorite liner formulas!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Becca, I haven’t tried those, but if Kate thinks they’re comparable I’ll totally believe her!

I like this formula because it really dries down to a glossy finish, and it’s not going anywhere!

  • Larie

The liners look the same to me o_O They are a gorgeous shade of olive, though! My favorite!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Larie, I think Straight on till Morning has a bit more gold, but they are indeed nearly identical! Khaki remains a favorite shade of mine, too!

  • VickyM

I love the liners will have to look for a dupe from another brand, (Mac probably since it´s the brand with the most varied makeup here) , this gold green is really very pretty and it really emphasizes your eyes, I need a liner like this :) .

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Vicky, khaki liners aren’t that hard to find, so I hope you’ll get something reasonably similar!

  • wheetnee

I’ve used Pixi lip tints and their blushes, the packaging sucks me everytime!

Khaki is one of my favourite shades to wear too!! It looks great with brown eyes!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Whitney, glad to hear you like PIXI! If you like khaki definitely give these a go!
