Clinique Summer in the City & Black Honey A Different Nail Enamel

Clinique Summer in the City, Black Honey nail polish

A nail polish for sensitive skin? Really? Apparently we touch our eyes 200 times a day, so it’s a good idea for nail polishes to be hypoallergenic too. Clinique launched A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins (9ml/0.3 oz. RRP in Belgium: 16,50 euros) with 12 permanent shades and 4 online exclusive limited-edition ones for summer. Today we’re taking a look at Black Honey and Summer in the City!

Clinique nail polish brush

Clinique A Different Nail Enamel comes with a slightly flat brush. I find it easier to use than thin ones such as Chanel or Zoya, but flat tapered ones (Dior, Guerlain) are still my favorites.

Clinique Shimmer in the City, Black Honey

Summer in the City (online exclusive, limited edition) is a watermelon pink, and Black Honey is a darkened cherry jam. The consistency is a bit thin, but both shades perform well. Black Honey is not 100% even with one coat, but with two it’s fine, I especially like the high-shine jelly finish. Summer in the City is a happy summery shade that I personally really enjoy!

Have you seen Clinique A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins around? Did any shade catch your eye? The other three limited-edition summer shades include 70º and Sunny (a bright yellow), Splish Splash (a petrol blue), and Hula Skirt (grassy green). Pretty bold!

Pretty shades! Didn’t actually realize people were allergic! But I guess if you have eczema these might be a good idea.

Hey Tracy, me either! I think this is essentially a 5-free formula that ties in nicely with Clinique’s hypoallergenic brand image.

LOVE love love the jelly finish of these–sooo pretty! I liked the cheery yellow one I saw on Teri’s blog but actually think I like the look/finish of Summer in the City a bit more. And Black Honey is, of course, GORGEOUS! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Becca, I think Black Honey has a much more jelly finish than Summer in the City. You should swatch it when you get the chance!

    Both look really pretty!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Both of these are petty solid shades! If you don’t own anything similar already you should swatch them!

      The jelly finish is nice!

  • Icaria

Hmm how come you didn’t take 70 and Sunny? :D Black Honey will be mine eventually! I love dark colors and love the jelly finish of this one!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha well I didn’t pick the shades. I’m really happy with Summer in the City though!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

I like these, but I don’t love these enough to give them a shot, haha. Plus, I’ve been trying to avoid polish T_T

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww why? Is your stash spinning out of control? ;)

  • VickyM

This ne looks nice, I may have to look at the colors maybe I would like one, but luckily I´m not allergic or too sensitive to cosmetics in general.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Vicky, same here. I don’t think Clinique is the first brand that came up with a hypoallergenic nail polish formula, so it will depend on if you like the shade(s) you see!

  • Dorien@InMyPrettyShoes

I really like Summer in the City.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

It’s great for the weather we had today!

Not sure I really buy that whole sensitive skin thing they’re advertising, but it doesn’t matter because I do LOVE the colors. Black Honey is so perfect with that adorable squishy finish!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey MM, same here! I think it really comes down to whether you like the colors to be honest!

Both shades are gorgeous! I especially live the Black Honey, the finish is lovely.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Taylor, I agree! It’s so squishy!

  • http://onestarrynight.com Sarah @ OneStarryNight

I really like Black Honey (one of my all time favorite lip colors lol!) how long did these last for you before chipping?

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sarah, it’s really hard to say. My nails are very fragile and they peel all the time, so nothing lasts more than a day or so on me :( I seldom test out wear anymore because I can’t. Sorry!
