For the Love of Coral: Blush Edition

Mostly Sunny coral blushes

I talk about coral on this blog all the time. Virtually all the time. Hardly a week goes by without me mentioning something coral, and it’s a shade I wear very often in real life. In fact, just as I confessed here: I am pretty determined to wear nothing but coral until autumn settles in. I thought it would be a good idea to do a couple of coral overview posts, partly because you’ll get to see what I have in my stash, and partly because I will get to examine how many I have accumulated over time. Anyways, here is the blush edition of For the Love of Coral! I hope you’ll enjoy!

I counted 9 blushes that I would categorize as coral in my stash. It’s not a shocking number (in my book), but I should probably hold off getting yet another coral blush anytime soon. I divided the 9 into two categories, the more pink corals and their more orange counterparts.

Edward Bess Secret Affair, Dior Coral Glow, Tarte Blissful, LMdB Coral Nymph

Here is the group of more “pink” corals. From the upper left corner we have Edward Bess Secret Affair, Dior Coral Glow, Tarte Blissful, and Le Métier de Beauté Coral Nymph.

Here they are swatched in the same order:

I would say that Secret Affair is a bit more peach, and Tarte Blissful a bit more orange. Otherwise the first three shades are rather similar! For the moment, Dior Coral Glow gets the most love in this group, as it is very convenient to open up one compact and get more than one thing done! Its extraordinary lasting power guarantees I won’t me look sickly pale at some point in the afternoon.

Becca Grapefruit Beach Tint, Becca Damselfly, Cargo Rome, LMdB Echo, Guerlain Peach Boy

Here we have the more orange ones, including Becca Grapefruit Beach Tint, Becca Damselfly Mineral Blush, Cargo Rome,  Le Métier de Beauté Traviata, and Guerlain Peach Boy.

Here they are swatched in the same order:

The Le Métier de Beauté Traviata I have is a small gift-with-purchase version. It has Echo Radiance Rouge Blush and Sun Kissed Bronzer. The concept is the same with Dior Coral Glow, but I have never really tested it out because the pan is too small to pick the shades up individually. The Echo in this particular pan is a bit powdery and less smooth than what I’d like to see when swatched. It almost feels like it drags on my skin. I would love to be able to swatch the full-size version when I have the opportunity, but for the moment I can’t really say I would recommend this.

I had a bit of a love affair with Becca Damselfly last summer. Even in the challenging climate of Taipei, it never oxidized or slipped off from my face! Guerlain Peach Boy is another one that I use often. I know many complain about the harder texture, but that’s how typical Guerlain powders feel, and usually it has no impact on their performance. I have a soft spot for Peach Boy because it just lasts so well on my cheeks! It might seem really orange in the swatch, but it doesn’t look that way on.

What do you think of my stash of coral blushes? Did anything catch your eye here? I know I probably shouldn’t get more, but please let me know if there is a coral blush (or two) that you would like to recommend!

  • Liz

I loooooooooooooove coral. I don’t talk about it as much as you do 😉 😉 but the love is simply overpowering during summer alongside a tan!

I think Tarte Blissful is a must-have. Peach Boy, too. Gaaaah! lol

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha yaaay high five! I do like Tarte blushes, but I haven’t used them much at all since last summer. I took two back with me to Taipei, and they both oxidized SO badly on me! It’s really strange because apparently it doesn’t happen to everyone. Oh well.

  • Caise

    wow what a collection:)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Wait till you see the lipstick edition. It’s almost double in number :p

  • b eauties

I wish I had all of those 😮

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha you can slowly start building your collection!

  • Redhotjillypeppers

So many lovely blushes ! I think coral is a flattering shade on most people.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’d like to think so, too! There are so many interpretations of the word coral. I’d like to think there’s some kind of coral everybody can wear!

  • Diana

I love coral blushes, so pretty!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      I knowwww!

  • Luchessa Grossmann

Ohh this post is like a “Happy Meal” for blush lovers :) I enjoy wearing coral blushes, they seem to make my face so much fresher.
My fav so far ist the Hot Mama by The Balm.
I like the Tarte one from your collection. What a beautiful pattern…

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha that’s a nice way of looking at it! I haven’t tried anything from The Balm yet, but I’ve heard a lot about Hot Mama and everybody seems to like it!

  • LifeOfBun

Drool..! So many sunny coral shades!! I love how corals match with so many different skintones.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Anouchka, that’s what I’d like to think as well 😉

  • ValleyDoll

I loooooove Coral ! It’s one of my favourite shades. You have a really lovely coral blush collection there :-)!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yaaay high five! I’ll try not to expand this collection too much by autumn LOL

  • Sara_BeauTime

Oh such a nice post, corals look so beautiful on you! I think I have to get secret affair after reading this 😉

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Sara! You should try Secret Affair! The texture is so glorious!

  • Icaria

Ooooo!!!!! Such a nice selection! I like Becca Damselfly and Guerlain Peach Boy as well as Tarte but that one seems similar to Coral Glow. Actually I think I would like to have them all! :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Helene! I know that Becca is more famous for their liquid products, but to be honest their powders are second to none in the industry! Blissful is reasonably similar to Coral Glow. I don’t think you need both, but then again need is a very subjective thing 😉

  • Memoiselle

OMGGG look at your coral blushes collection!! It drools me :) It reminds me of a beautiful sunset :))
I personally likes pink blushes better than coral. I have a Burberry Tangerine blush which I think is a perfect coral for many skin tones 😉

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha thanks, Meryl! I don’t own a single Burberry blush yet, if you can believe it! I really should get one soon! Everyone seems to love them!

  • Whitney

Coral anything is my favourite! Your stash is so enviable 😀 I heard Tarte blissful is really awesome but my blush collection is beyond reasonable now. The coral-y blush I use is Euphoria by Buxom! Check it out :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Good to know, Whitney! I wish I had access to Buxom! There are some Buxom products I’ve been looking at forever! It’s strange that bareMinerals is easily available (online) here, but no webshop whatsoever carries Buxom!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

I have LMdB Traviata from a gift with purchase-well, HAD it. I threw it out-HORRIBLE. I have Echo Blush by itself, and it’s NOTHING like that one. SO much better. I couldn’t believe LMdB cheaped out like that-kind of turned me off of them actually and I haven’t bought anything since!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Tracy, I’m glad to hear I’m not alone! It’s SO strange! I wonder if something went wrong during the production stage, but in any case I’m not too sure I want the full-size deal now!

  • Dominique33

A very pretty selection of coral blushes !

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Dominique! I don’t think I should get more, but I know myself: there will be more!

  • BeautyLoves

So beautiful! I love more pinky corals, on my cheeks, on the lips and on the nails. So basically, everywhere :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

LOL yeah exactly! I think I am more into pink corals because all the corals tend to pull orange on me, and I get excited when something still shows quite a bit of pink.

  • Kristen / Glambunctious

I’ve been curious about those Becca Beach Tints – love that it lasts! Beautiful post of swatchy delights! Thanks, Sunny! I think my guilty pleasure that I have tons of is pink lip glosses! I probably have 15….it’s just my go-to easy shade! :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww I’m glad you like it, Kristen! You should show your pink gloss collection!

  • MyLuciteDreams

Omg! I just fainted, lol! I felt this post impending! So much beauty and I do hope you do a lipstick coral post, please! The Edward Bess caught my attention, it’s so beautiful! LMDB Coral Nymph is on my list and this post only validated that! Love <3

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Taylor, the lipstick version will be up soon! You should really try the EB one. Gorgeous gorgeous texture! Coral Nymph is out of this world as well!

  • Tiffany

Oh my goodness. I just loved this post! Anything relating to coral is bound to grab my attention though 😉 I’ve definitely just added a few more blushes to my wishlist!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Tiffany! I can’t wait to see what you end up getting!

  • peggy timmermans

I like them! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with coral!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha coral can do nooo wrong in my book!

  • Jacqueline Ma

My heart just stopped, I love coral blushes! I think I just have to get all the orange coral blushes, they all look so good. I’m taking my Peach Boy out for a spin tomorrow.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha glad to hear you enjoyed the post! I initially found Peach Boy hard to blend, but after combining it with the right brush (LMdB blush brush), it is now one of the blushes I use the most often!

  • Louisa

hello sunny, you absolutely must check out chanel’s frivole rouge, its a perfect coral peach and was initially included in their spring collection but so popular that it is available regularly now ^^
It is my standard blush and you always look so fresh with it. pigmentation is great as well. love, zoeylouisa, :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Louisa, I know!!! I keep thinking about that one, but I haven’t taken the plunge yet. I’ll be at the airport in a few days though. Perhaps I should pick it up at a duty-free shop!

  • Sofia

Hahaha I am ALSO determined to only wear coral until autumn! Thats a neat coral collection you have… and theres that Dior coral glow again…

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha sorry, Sofia! I already know that’s part of the makeup I’ll take with me all the way back to Taipei!

  • nonno

You must check out Addiction Heart & Heart if you can. I’ve jumped onto the coral bandwagon lately (what took me so long??!!) so this post of yours is most motivating and inspiring! Lol I can strike off EB Secret Affair now that you’ve shown it’s very similar to Coral Glow but Coral Nymph!!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much for the heads-up! Coral is pretty nice, eh? You should definitely try Coral Nymph. It has a great texture as well as lasting power!

  • Isabelle

You are such a coral addict 😉 I can’t really recommend you any.. But I did tell you about those pretty Etude House blushes. You should check if they do a nice coral and get it!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh wait till you see my coral lipstick collection… :p

I will take a look at Etude House! From what I remember there are counters a bit everywhere :)

  • Ada Chen

    The collection is astonishing!
But i also think that coral is the most “friendly” color for a blush.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Ada! Coral is indeed very friendly for warm-toned people!

  • Beauty Box

Coral is my go-to blush shade as well – my face just looks “lit up” whenever I use a coral blush. I think warm/yellow toned skin looks the best with coral! I know this is such a cliche but NARS’ Orgasm is a coral blush that I would recommend for coral lovers but if you don’t like shimmer in your blush then it’s not for you. I like using it because I don’t need a highlighter when I slap it on. 😉

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Yu Ming, I know exactly what you mean! I have swatched Orgasm, but I am not too sure about the shimmer. Maybe I should have it applied to get a better idea though!

  • Catherine

OMGOMG. So I’ve been a little behind in my beauty blog reading but HOW DID I MISS THIS POST?! Drooling. OK now going to finish actually reading the post, I just got so excited I had to comment immediately 😉

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha I’m so glad you like it, Catherine! Trying so hard not to buy more this year 😉

  • Strawbry_Blonde

I’ve wanted to try Edward Bess for so long – I just love the whole ethos of the brand and must admit it’s the coral I love most from your swatches. Do you think this would be a good place to start with EB or have you any other recs?

    Nic x

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Nic, I’d actually recommend trying a blush first! The lipstick is great, but you might have a lot of other great lipsticks already so I’m not sure this will stand out. The blush I have on the other hand (Secret Affair), is in a different league!

      • Strawbry_Blonde

Ohhh good to know, thank you! :)
