His & Hers (Summer) Fragrances

Acqua di Parma Mirto di Panarea, Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle, Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom, Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret Edition Plume

What scents do you wear in summer? When even the thought of spritzing my beloved Dior Miss Dior and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle becomes intolerable in the heat, I reach for the lighter, fresher, and simpler fragrances in my stash.

Acqua di Parma Mirto di Panarea reminds me of a walk on the beach, Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom a picnic in the park, and Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle a dinner date somewhere tropical! The bottle all wrapped up in a feather cape? That’s Givenchy Auge ou Démon Le Secret. The limited edition bottle this year features a glamorous feather cape!

The feather cape doesn’t really hold together without some help (you can glue it together if you wish), but isn’t it glam? The inside of the box says it can be worn as a bracelet, but I have a better idea…

How about dolling a kitty up?

P1350632

This is only possible when they’re asleep, mind you. Mine have already made a joint attempt to steal it and kill it (they were caught before any damage could be done though)!

The scent? White floral with some citrus and tea to lighten it up. If you are a fan of frangipani, you’re in luck. There is a generous dose of it in this one!

Dior Homme, Givenchy Gentlemen Only, Fendi Fan di Fendi Pour Homme

I had to put “summer” in parentheses in the title because Dr. D doesn’t seem to rotate his perfumes according to the weather. He has been very faithful to Dior Homme for a while now. I am all for a good classic, but when it comes to Dior Homme, I personally like the “sport” version a lot more. This is rare, as I normally resist scents that are labeled as “sport,” but the more prominent iris note in that one won me over!

Givenchy Gentlemen Only is a scent that we both went gaga for the second we smelled it. The modern homage to Givenchy‘s classic Gentleman is honestly irresistible. I’m not sure what it is about this one (it might be vetiver. I am a real sucker for that). I am very neutral about most male scents (unless they decide to overdose on citrus and end up smelling like giant walking cleaning products), but here is something that I just want to sniff and sniff! It is very classic, but not in a “my dad wears this” way. All I can say is, ladies, force-spritz this on your man next time you are near a tester and enjoy!

Fendi Fan di Fendi Pour Homme is another swoon-worthy one that’s spicy, woody, and the geranium, the geranium! This summer Fendi launched Fendi Fan di Fendi Pour Homme Acqua with sea notes, lavender, and cardamon. I’d totally hang out with a guy who is wearing this by the pool (hopefully in Italy too)!

How about you? What are your go-to summer fragrances? Are you a fan of any scent your guy wears?

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jill, I love how clean yet feminine this one smells!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

I tend to go lighter in the summer too. And greener. Yesterday I wore Jo Malone Wild Fig and Cassis! Love all your picks Sunny!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Tracy, I wish I could wear anything that smells remotely like fig without it turning REALLY REALLY nasty on me LOL I do enjoy how figs smell on other people though!

I know a lot of people think Escada is for younger girls, but I LOVE Escada fragrances in summer.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Melissa, I like the fruity quality about Escada fragrances! No need to feel self-conscious about liking them!

  • Kelly G

Jo Malone is my next MUST buy! I’m also obsessed with Dior Addict :) Great picks, thanks for posting! http://chicnstylishblog.blogspot.com/

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kelly, you should check Jo Malone out! I like most of the line-up, though not everything is very “me.”

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

Yep, I go lighter in the summer, too, but sometimes I also change in some juicy scents. I don’t know. I’m fickle about perfume! I should feature some of S.’s scents, haha.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Larie, you should! I know very little about male perfumes. I am indifferent to a lot of them, but some do really appeal to me.

Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom sounds very pretty to me. I clicked on the link to your previous post on it and now you got me wanting to sniff it! I associate Osmanthus with Chinese tea actually and find it a little bitter, so it would be interesting to see Jo Malone’s take on it…

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Yu Ming, Osmanthus Blossom actually doesn’t smell like anything I am very familiar with. I’m guessing it’s a different sub-species from what I am used to! I’m wearing it today and it smells like juicy peaches with a leathery hint ;)

  • http://lifeandlensofbeauty.blogspot.hk/ Jenni @ lifeandlensofbeauty

would love to give a sniff at the JM one but it isn’t out yet hehe

    cute kitty btw!<3

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenni, Osmanthus Blossom was limited edition. Maybe it’s already sold out?

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

Mr. H. is quite faithful to his perfumes and doesnt rotate until one runs out and gets another, so we can ignore him in this one… I like heavier muskier perfumes in winter but can’t bear them in summer. I usually go for citrusy scents in summer!
Hahaha poor kitty being dolled up while in dreamland… ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, Dr. D is actually pretty much like that! For the moment he seems to be bent on finishing his Dior Homme before switching to the other two on a regular basis. Oh well ;)

Kissa (she’s my rescue kitty. Looking for a permanent home now) didn’t seem to mind at all, though later she tried to eat the whole thing and I’m not sure if it’s her idea of payback!

Ahh Kitty cape! I love Tom Ford Black Orchid for men though my father wears it and its pretty much not a fragrance I would now suggest for my bf. He wears Givenchy Xerious, it’s him and I love it because so :-) I love Kai Perfume oil and Honores des Pres Love Coconut for summer xoxo

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Taylor, I remember liking Noir but I don’t think I remember how Black Orchid smells! That Love Coconut sounds gorgeous! I’ll have to check it out!

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

Love the kitty feather cape! I’ve been wanting to sniff Gentlemen Only so badly! I am usually so fragrance sensitive that I tend to wear whatever is working for me and my picky nose year-round. Lately though, I broke out my GINORMOUS bottle of Marc Jacobs Rain and Mr. Glambunctious couldn’t stop smelling me! At one point, he was huffing my hair. So I figured it might be good to start wearing it more often if he liked it that much! I was sniffing the Nicky Minaj perfume – the one with the hot pink bustier and her likeness at Ulta this weekend when my mom walked up, shook her head and said, “No…” and walked away! That cracked me up!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kristen, MAKE SURE YOU SNIFF Gentlemen Only! It’s funny how the important people in your life somehow influence your choice of fragrance, no? Lucky for me, Dr. D and I agree in most cases!

  • peggy timmermans

I know what you mean, it’s too hot for wood :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

It’s too hot for any complex, long-lasting scents ;)

  • http://miaka-mylife.blogspot.com/ Ruby Chua

I have completely no hope in purchasing Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom as it was out of stock when i checked out the store. I love English Pear & Freesia during the hot and humid weather, very refreshing!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww I’m so sorry to hear that! No idea why they made this LE! English Peer & Freesia is a very lovely one as well. I also like Earl Grey & Cucumber. That’s the ultimate fragrance for summer!

  • http://www.cuteandmundane.com/ Dovey

    Hi Sunny,

I loved the scent of Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom when I tried it! Great choices here… and cute kitty collar too :) Hope all has been well!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Dovey! I’ve been wearing Osmanthus Blossom a lot. I’m surprised how much lasting power it has! I wish one of the kitties could pose with the feather cape, but they will most probably kill it instead!

  • Memoiselle

I love my Jo Malone Osmanthus Blossom! It is so fresh and it stays for a very long hours :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Same here! I’ve been wearing it a lot!

  • http://www.lenallure.com L e n a

always enjoy reading posts about perfume like this!
i still wear my coco mademoiselle but only a drop. my summer favorites are Child and Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline. yeah, everyone should go light in this heat. ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m glad you like it, Lena! I really love Coco Mademoiselle, but in the extreme heat we’ve been having I need to go lighter!
