Hey everyone! Do you know Dior is launching their new line of Rouge Dior and Dior Contour very soon (available on September 4th in Belgium, along with Mystic Metallics)? The new Rouge Dior collection also comes with four Dior Vernis so you can do the chic matchy-matchy thing with your lipsticks. On top of that, the oh-so-famous Crème Abricot will be joined by several new products to form Dior‘s Manicure line! I only got enough time to photograph these babies and played a little with some of them, but all in all, color me impressed!
Rouge Dior is celebrating the 60th anniversary this year. Mr. Dior launched his first Rouge Dior, 9, in 1953. The shade later came back as 99 (in 2003), and now 999 (I do believe the reincarnations have been modified). The line-up includes 32 shades. Dior‘s take on the new Rouge Diors is that perfect color comes from perfect lips, so the formula is supposed to smooth and re-plump lips.
I received Darling (775. RRP in Belgium: 36,80 euros), one of the four “icons” representing the pink family (red is represented by 999, beige Grège 1947, and coral Trafalgar). Darling is a medium bright pink with a blue/fuchsia undertone. I actually wore it today. I’ll keep the rave till I review the lipstick in depth, but it’s so incredibly smooth (it almost melts on the skin. For a creamy and opaque lipstick, this is quite rare), lightweight (barely feels like I’m wearing anything on the lips), hydrating, and it holds up/fades spectacularly well!
This is how Darling swatches. Left: one pass. Right: built up.
To help the lipsticks last even longer, the Rouge Diors will be accompanied by 12 new Dior Contour Lipliner Pencils (RRP in Belgium: 25,50 euros). I have Rouge Dior (999) and Automne (844) here:
Rouge Dior is a bright, blue-based cherry red. Automne is a brownish pinky beige. I haven’t tested the formula out yet, but just from swatching them, I can tell they are much smoother and tug less than most lip liners I have tried!
Here is how Rouge Dior swatches. On the right, I blended the edge out with the attached brush:
Here is how Automne swatches:
This reminds me: I still have to try Dior Universal Contour Lipliner! Also, there is a shade in the line-up called Sunny Coral. I didn’t think I’d ever say this, but I probably need to own it just for the name!
Here you see Nuit 1947 (970) and Rouge (999) Le Vernis (RRP in Belgium: 25 euros). Nuit 1947 is a dark cherry jam with some secret shimmer. Rouge is a true red (it does contain secret shimmer as well, but it’s barely visible). Nuit 1947 is not entirely opaque or even with one coat, but with two coats it’s perfection. Rouge is smooth, creamy, and opaque with one coat. I’ll do comparisons as well when I swatch them!
Last but not least, two products in the Manicure line! Instant French Manicure Pen (RRP: 25,50 euros) reminds me of a white marker. I am still trying to perfect my skills, and I’ll keep you posted! Huile Abricot (RRP: 25 euros) is a lightweight cuticle oil that comes with a handy brush applicator. I like the convenience and texture, so it went straight into my purse! I’ll definitely let you know how the formula works!
Did you see anything you like here? I can’t wait to check out the Rouge Dior line-up! Assuming most shades perform just like Darling, I have found my new favorite lipstick formula!
