NEW from Dior: Dior Rouge Dior & Manicure Sneak Peek!

Dior Rouge Dior & Manicure review

Hey everyone! Do you know Dior is launching their new line of Rouge Dior and Dior Contour very soon (available on September 4th in Belgium, along with Mystic Metallics)? The new Rouge Dior collection also comes with four Dior Vernis so you can do the chic matchy-matchy thing with your lipsticks. On top of that, the oh-so-famous Crème Abricot will be joined by several new products to form Dior‘s Manicure line! I only got enough time to photograph these babies and played a little with some of them, but all in all, color me impressed!

Dior Rouge Dior, Automne Dior Contour Lipliner Pencil

Rouge Dior is celebrating the 60th anniversary this year. Mr. Dior launched his first Rouge Dior, 9, in 1953. The shade later came back as 99 (in 2003), and now 999 (I do believe the reincarnations have been modified). The line-up includes 32 shades. Dior‘s take on the new Rouge Diors is that perfect color comes from perfect lips, so the formula is supposed to smooth and re-plump lips.

Dior Darling Rouge Dior 775

I received Darling (775. RRP in Belgium: 36,80 euros), one of the four “icons” representing the pink family (red is represented by 999, beige Grège 1947, and coral Trafalgar). Darling is a medium bright pink with a blue/fuchsia undertone. I actually wore it today. I’ll keep the rave till I review the lipstick in depth, but it’s so incredibly smooth (it almost melts on the skin. For a creamy and opaque lipstick, this is quite rare), lightweight (barely feels like I’m wearing anything on the lips), hydrating, and it holds up/fades spectacularly well!

This is how Darling swatches. Left: one pass. Right: built up.

To help the lipsticks last even longer, the Rouge Diors will be accompanied by 12 new Dior Contour Lipliner Pencils (RRP in Belgium: 25,50 euros). I have Rouge Dior (999) and Automne (844) here:

Dior Rouge 999, Automne Dior Contour

Rouge Dior is a bright, blue-based cherry red. Automne is a brownish pinky beige. I haven’t tested the formula out yet, but just from swatching them, I can tell they are much smoother and tug less than most lip liners I have tried!

Here is how Rouge Dior swatches. On the right, I blended the edge out with the attached brush:

Here is how Automne swatches:

This reminds me: I still have to try Dior Universal Contour Lipliner! Also, there is a shade in the line-up called Sunny Coral. I didn’t think I’d ever say this, but I probably need to own it just for the name!

Dior Nuit 1947, Rouge Le Vernis

Here you see Nuit 1947 (970) and Rouge (999) Le Vernis (RRP in Belgium: 25 euros). Nuit 1947 is a dark cherry jam with some secret shimmer. Rouge is a true red (it does contain secret shimmer as well, but it’s barely visible). Nuit 1947 is not entirely opaque or even with one coat, but with two coats it’s perfection. Rouge is smooth, creamy, and opaque with one coat. I’ll do comparisons as well when I swatch them!

Dior French Manicure Instant French Manicure Pen, Huild Abricot Daily Nutritive Serum

Last but not least, two products in the Manicure line! Instant French Manicure Pen (RRP: 25,50 euros) reminds me of a white marker. I am still trying to perfect my skills, and I’ll keep you posted! Huile Abricot (RRP: 25 euros) is a lightweight cuticle oil that comes with a handy brush applicator. I like the convenience and texture, so it went straight into my purse! I’ll definitely let you know how the formula works!

Did you see anything you like here? I can’t wait to check out the Rouge Dior line-up! Assuming most shades perform just like Darling, I have found my new favorite lipstick formula!

Mostly Sunny disclosure

  • beauties

yes, you need to buy sunny coral 😀 suits you perfectly!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I know! Plus I have so many corals to work with it LOL

  • Diana

    I’m wearing Nuit right now!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Yaaay isn’t it great? 😉

  • Lily

The red looks good… and I’m curious about that French manicure thing!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lily, I’m still practicing getting a nice line. It’s kinda hard to draw clean lines on the nails, but that could be because I’m pretty clumsy!

  • Beauty Box

Love the look of the Darling lippie and the Rouge nail polish… Classic shades!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I agree! I need to pick the 999 lipstick up now!

  • Kiss & Make-up

Step away from the lipstick, sloooooowly, and let me have it.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

LOL trust me you need to try one of these!

  • Icaria

Oh no! This is not good! Just not good! First Galaxie and now Nuit 1947? The lipsticks??? *sigh*

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I know! I’m going to aim at 3 items, but it’s going to be HARD!

  • Sara_BeauTime

Oh a new handy packaging for abricot creme, this is a must have for me. I am also very excited for Nuit 1947, looks like a timeless vampy red, must-have!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sara, Huile Abricot is more like a serum instead of a thick balm. So far it’s working well for me and the packaging makes it a piece of cake to use even on the go!

  • Larie

DIOOORRRRRRRRR. Their nail polishes and lipsticks are some of my absolute favorites, and Nuit 1947 has my name written all over it… (although not as well as “Sunny Coral!” LOL)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yaaaay! I think they’re already available in the States, so go check them out! And yes, Sunny Coral will HAVE to be mine!

  • expatmuaddict

LOVE the look of the lipsticks!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I fear for my wallet LOL

  • Yak Man

love the colors of the lipliner, hihi :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Yak Man, I’m going to try them out in the next couple of days, but you’re right about the colors!

  • Dominique33

I love Nuit and 999, I’ll pick up both^^. 999 is a very pretty red, a go-to red in fact. Classy and so easy to wear. Pigments are very elegant, people don’t stare when I wear it ( tried 2 times already ). They do stare when I wear F-Bomb and 69 by UD but pigments are incredible I must say ! 999 is just perfect even for work, perfect for a dinner or going out too. The scent is delicate and it applies easily. I am a huge fan of red lippies, 999 is a must-have in my opinion.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Dominique, I’m glad to hear you love 999 so much! It looks like I’ve got to pick it up, since I already have the liner and nail polish that go with it! I’m so obsessed with Darling. The formula is too awesome!

      • Dominique33

Yes I agree the formula is good ( as you said ” lightweight ” and not drying ), and I think it looks like you’ve got to pick up 999^^. So many red lipsticks are a touch garish but this one is just perfection if you need both an intense red and a subtle red.

  • MyLuciteDreams

Ooh Dior! I’m loving that lip shade and those polishes. Two very classic shades!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Taylor, I’m so in love with Darling!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

Darling looks so pretty!! I have not tried a Rouge Dior lipstick yet-only the addicts and addict extremes!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Tracy, Darling is my first but it sure won’t be my last! I don’t think I’ve been this impressed for a while now!

  • Liz

God knows the last thing I need is another red nail polish, but Rouge keeps catching my eye when I pass Dior counters. Might have to swatch next time!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hahaha the consistency and opacity is SO amazing! The finish is not flat at all, either! You should really swatch it!

  • peggy timmermans

Dior Darling is just such an amazing colour…i totally love that!!!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m beginning to wonder if bright pinks will take over my coral obsession at some point!
