Sparkle Like a Star with Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono

Dior Millennium FOTD

I love a good cream/hybrid shadow. Dior launched Diorshow Fusion Monos with the Mystic Metallics Collection, and Millennium was calling my name so loudly that I had to take it home!

Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono packaging

First of all, I am impressed with the generous 6.5 grams (0.22 oz) Dior put in the pot. In fact, I am pretty sure it contains the most product compared with other cream/hybrid eyeshadows on the market!

Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono

Each Diorshow Fusion Mono (RRP in Belgium: 33,50 euros) comes with a sponge applicator. I was pleasantly surprised about how well it works: the tip is even fine enough for my lower lash line!

Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono closeup

Millennium (381) is a smoky darkened pewter with ruby red, silver, and blue micro shimmer. If you are familiar with Chanel Illusion d’Ombres, the bouncy texture of this formula is basically identical. Millennium delivers smooth and mostly opaque color in a single pass. I have tried to use a fluffy brush, my pinky, and the enclosed applicator to apply this formula, and it works well with all three. It doesn’t ball up or produce any fallout! Over a primer (which I systematically use), it lasts all day without creasing.

Here is how Millennium swatches. Left: built up. Right: lightly blended.

Millennium reminds me a lot of Benefit Skinny Jeans Creaseless Cream Shadow, so I did a comparison here:

Dior Millennium, Benefit Skinny Jeans comparison

Skinny Jeans has a bit of plum in it that I don’t see in Millennium, but finish-wise these are sufficiently different: Millennium is so sparkling that it almost looks like it has a layer of clear lip gloss over it!

I did a simple, no-brainer look with Millennium all over my lid and Bobbi Brown Slate blended into the other third/crease. I also lined my lower lash line with Millennium. In retrospect, I should have busted Dior Bonne Étoile out: I’m sure the two would work well together!

Dior Millennium EOTD

I have Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior on my lips. I got this tester with the four “it shades” when I purchase 999 Rouge Dior. I didn’t have high hopes for Grège 1947, but I can’t get it out of my head after trying it on: it seems like my perfect nude! I’ll swatch, review, and compare it for you soon!

Bottom line: If you are into smoky and sparkling shades, Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono might be something for you. The formula works well, and the portion is very generous! I would be happy if Dior made these permanent!

(EDIT 30/09/2013: A reader pointed out that these are indeed permanent. While the information I received doesn’t specify, after doing some research I realized they might actually be permanent indeed! Yay for Dior!)

Have you tried any of these bouncy hybrid eyeshadows?

This is the shade that we don’t get here. Another shade is Hypnotique. I also like how sparkly they are, without being over the top or gritty :-) Grege 1947 looks great on you btw!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lily, ahh that sucks! If you want any of these I’m willing to help though!

  • http://wade-ashore.blogspot.com/ Caise

wow what a gorgeous shade! I definitely have to check it out! it looks amazing on you:) on the other hand.. yesterday I swatched grege 1947 and I didn’t like it that much but now I might consider swatching it again:)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Daria! I really like this and Hypnotique!

Grege 1947 exceeds my expectations! It has enough pink to function on my skin tone. Do swatch it again or see if you can try it on :)

Smokey AND sparkly you say? Sold! The color looks really lovely on you, Sunny.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Melissa! I think there are a couple more in the line-up that are on the smokey side as well.

  • beauties

    perfect for the holidays :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh I don’t need an excuse to wear sparkle on my eyes LOL

  • expatmuaddict

I bought this! I think I prefer the Chanel version but they are quite similar in texture-I find the ‘bouncy’ texture quite unusual! Been storing mine upside down to prolong it’s life and stop it drying out. Am going to try applying it with the brush because it sounds like it works well!

    • expatmuaddict

How funny, we used an almost identical background for our posts!!! http://expatmake-upaddict.blogspot.ae/2013/08/dior-fall-2013-diorshow-fusion-mono.html :-)))

      • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh haha you’re right! This is actually my sparkling sequin dress that I use more often as backdrop ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Stacey, I store my cream/hybrid shadows upside down as well! So far they haven’t died on me, and let’s hope it’ll stay that way for a long time! It does work well with a brush so try it!

  • Icaria

I swatched it and it’s really a gorgeous color. If only is was a little less sparkly. *sigh*

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww yeah these hybrid eyeshadows tend to be very sparkling. Check out Benefit Skinny Jeans? It’s shimmery but much less so.

  • http://MyLuciteDreams.com/ MyLuciteDreams

Oh wow! I love the sparkle in this and I’m amazed by the coverage. Really love it, and that nude does look beautiful on you!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Taylor! Millennium does provide great coverage so it functions well alone!

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com/ Isabelle

Oh it looked great on you! I love these products, they should indeed make them permanent and add more shades!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Isabelle! I agree. I’d love to see more shades!

  • Natalie

This is so beautiful!! The finish is just amazing.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Natalie, it’s pretty sparkling but not in a gritty or over-the-top way!

      • Natalie

        Even better :)

  • Krystle Kouture

This looks gorgeous! Silver tend to look bad on me but if there’s a gold version available i”m sold!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Krystle, I don’t think there is anything gold this time around, but this isn’t too cool-toned so you should take a look!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

I checked these out but wasn’t too keen, though the shades look gorgeous in the pot. I found them quite sparkly — but that may look quite enticing by the time Christmas and New Years come around.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Liz, I avoid sparkle everywhere else on my face, but I’m quite at ease when it’s on my lid! I think it’s also probably because I have monolids so not a lot of it is visible anyways, if that makes sense!

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

This isn’t something I would’ve picked out on my own, but it’s surprisingly pretty! Very classic, elegant looking on you

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Catherine! I love cream eyeshadows, especially when they are medium to dark because I can basically swipe on and go!

  • Dominique33

I have tried Cosmos and honestly speaking I think the Chanel Illusions d’Ombre are much better. Cosmos is nice though ( with a primer ), and the packaging is classy.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Dominique, I personally don’t notice much difference in terms of formulas! It’s probably because I always need a primer in any case?

      • Dominique33

I think the formula is more intense, smoother too but as you said, in both cases a primer is needed. I should use mine more often, but as I wear glasses well ^^

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

Wow! This is gorgeous! I am totally into sparkly shadows and this one looks incredible!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kristen, take a look at these before they’re sold out! They all seem really sparkling ;)

      • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

I could resist no longer. Resistance is futile! Dior Chimere just made it’s way into my Macys.com order, along with 2 (I know! My wallet is crying!) of the blush cremes, Panama and Pareo! **SO EXCITED!!** Thank you for sharing these awesome shadows with me! This will be my first ever Dior shadow! I’m so giddy! :) xoxo

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

LOL yay!!! I can’t wait to see how you like them! You ended up going for the two cream shadows that I don’t have, but honestly if I had the budget, I would have grabbed them all!

  • LifeOfBun

Ah in the pan it looked like a bunch of chunky glitter, but swatched and applied on it looks smooth!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Anouchka, nah it’s really not chunky at all, I swear! It’s got this gel/cream texture that just feels smooth :)

  • http://bronzerbunny.com/ Joyce (bronzer bunny)

this is so pretty on you! whenever i look at these in store, they are sooo extremely glittery. Oh well!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Joyce, I don’t object to glitter unless I can feel the grit or it starts falling halfway down my cheeks ;) That’s why I like this one!

  • http://lifeandlensofbeauty.blogspot.hk/ Jenni @ lifeandlensofbeauty

thanks for the comparison! didnt know they’d be so similar!! it seems a complex shade

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

You’re welcome, Jenni! The base colors are somehow similar, but you can’t replace the sparkle ;)

  • http://macaronsandmischief.com/ Whitney

I swear Dior can never do anything wrong! This is such a great colour for parties like new years eve or something! Looking great on you! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Same here! I have very rarely been disappointed by Dior! Thanks, Whitney! It’s probably not something I’d wear to work, but for spending time with friends and so on, yup!

  • http://scribblewithliner.wordpress.com/ Siri Lovise Eliassen

I actually believe these lovelies is part of the permanent collection, it’s just that they released as part of the Mystic Metallics as they were the perfect supplement to said look. Love the blue, Cosmos, and the plummy Hypnotique. Would be a shame if they were gone before the partyseason begins for real.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girly, you might be right! The information I received doesn’t really specify whether it’s LE or permanent, so I assumed it’s LE! Good to know they might be here to stay!
