I love a good cream/hybrid shadow. Dior launched Diorshow Fusion Monos with the Mystic Metallics Collection, and Millennium was calling my name so loudly that I had to take it home!
First of all, I am impressed with the generous 6.5 grams (0.22 oz) Dior put in the pot. In fact, I am pretty sure it contains the most product compared with other cream/hybrid eyeshadows on the market!
Each Diorshow Fusion Mono (RRP in Belgium: 33,50 euros) comes with a sponge applicator. I was pleasantly surprised about how well it works: the tip is even fine enough for my lower lash line!
Millennium (381) is a smoky darkened pewter with ruby red, silver, and blue micro shimmer. If you are familiar with Chanel Illusion d’Ombres, the bouncy texture of this formula is basically identical. Millennium delivers smooth and mostly opaque color in a single pass. I have tried to use a fluffy brush, my pinky, and the enclosed applicator to apply this formula, and it works well with all three. It doesn’t ball up or produce any fallout! Over a primer (which I systematically use), it lasts all day without creasing.
Here is how Millennium swatches. Left: built up. Right: lightly blended.
Millennium reminds me a lot of Benefit Skinny Jeans Creaseless Cream Shadow, so I did a comparison here:
Skinny Jeans has a bit of plum in it that I don’t see in Millennium, but finish-wise these are sufficiently different: Millennium is so sparkling that it almost looks like it has a layer of clear lip gloss over it!
I did a simple, no-brainer look with Millennium all over my lid and Bobbi Brown Slate blended into the other third/crease. I also lined my lower lash line with Millennium. In retrospect, I should have busted Dior Bonne Étoile out: I’m sure the two would work well together!
I have Dior Grège 1947 Rouge Dior on my lips. I got this tester with the four “it shades” when I purchase 999 Rouge Dior. I didn’t have high hopes for Grège 1947, but I can’t get it out of my head after trying it on: it seems like my perfect nude! I’ll swatch, review, and compare it for you soon!
Bottom line: If you are into smoky and sparkling shades, Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono might be something for you. The formula works well, and the portion is very generous! I would be happy if Dior made these permanent!
(EDIT 30/09/2013: A reader pointed out that these are indeed permanent. While the information I received doesn’t specify, after doing some research I realized they might actually be permanent indeed! Yay for Dior!)
Have you tried any of these bouncy hybrid eyeshadows?
