Enjoy the Last Rays of Autumn Sunshine with Dior Mazette Rouge Dior

Dior Mazette (028) Rouge Dior new formula

I think it’s only fitting to round off this year’s coral obsession with a Dior Rouge Dior (which I have also been obsessed with), so I picked up Mazette when there was an F&F sale a while back (sales are so dangerous. You get the impression that you’re getting stuff for free, but you really are not). The combination of an adorable color and a formula I can’t speak more highly of is simply perfection!

Dior Mazette Rouge Dior (028)

Dior Mazette Rouge Dior (028. RRP in Belgium: 36,80 euros. It actually goes for 33,05, and I paid 26,10 during the sales. Not bad!) is one of the shades that got carried over from the previous generation of Rouge Diors. It is a very pink coral, and you know I can never say no to one (most corals pull more orange on me. While I love those as well, I am always more excited when I find one that is very pink)!

Consistent with my experience with the new formula of Rouge Dior, Mazette has a soft and buttery texture that glides onto the lips easily. It delivers even coverage with some translucency, and the sheen makes it look like it’s glowing! Mazette wears well for four hours on me, leaving behind a tiny bit of stain. It is incredibly hydrating as well!

This is how Mazette swatches. Left: one pass. Right: built up.

I compared Mazette with some of the pinker corals I have in my stash. From left to right: Guerlain Gracy Rouge G, Dior Mazette Rouge Dior, NARS Lodhi Satin Lip Pencil, Chanel Le Baiser Rouge Coco.

It is quite possibly unique in my collection!

Here is how Mazette looks on me:

Can you see how smooth it makes my lips look?

While Mazette is not a shade that reminds me of autumn, but I am determined to give it as much love as I can before the last rays of autumn sunshine disappear! I paired it with a more autumn-themed eye look here, and I think it works well!

OK, I promise this is the last coral/Rouge Dior you will see for a while. I try to sample a shade or two of a certain formula just so that I won’t bore anyone, but I’ve been having quite a love affair with the new Rouge Diors and I can’t help it (if you want to see all the other Rouge Diors I have tried, click on the Dior Rouge Dior tag)!

Sunny stop it stop it stop it!! I now own 5 Rouge Dior and Incognito and it’s all down to you!! And then you post this truly beautiful lipstick and I am like ‘how fast can I get to the mall?!’

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha sorry, Stacey! I promise this is the last Rouge Dior for a while! Try what you have first, seriously!

  • Diana

I think the colour looks amazing on you!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Diana! It’s such a predictable shade for me, but I love it anyways!

  • Jacqueline Ma

I love how Mazette looks on you Sunny, beautiful. I’m not sure if it’s me but I love how the Rouge Dior applies but after a couple of hours my lips was peeling a little. Boo! Did you get the same problem? I’m going to test out mine longer, I hope it is a one of thing because I really how how Rouge Diors apply. You are making me want moar!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Jacqueline! Nope I don’t have peeling problems! If I have any dry patches, Rouge Dior makes it slough off. Otherwise not at all! Is it peeling or is it the dry bits that are coming off? I hope it’ll turn out fine for ya!

Such a lovely colour, it looks really pretty on you. I love the packaging of the Rouge Dior lipsticks, classy and not cliché, since most high end lipsticks have black packaging.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Kelly! I like how they simplified it to give it a modern boost, not that the older version doesn’t look modern though! It’s just MORE modern :)

      • http://keepingupwiththekelly.wordpress.com/ Kelly Amanda

I know exactly what you mean, both versions are great, this one just suits the time better.

  • Miss Ayo Délé

    I love this pink.

Mazette is such a girly pink :) I absolutely love it. It looks beautiful on you (of course!)
I really love the feel of Dior lipsticks. I have a few from years ago and I’m sure the formula’s changed by now but even then the formulas were wonderful. I think I’ll have to go and check out this shade this week. I really love it!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Jen! I never tried the older ones, but from what I read people seem to love them! I am really in love with this formula though! There isn’t a single thing I wish they had done differently!

  • http://www.lenallure.com L e n a

    i love it, Sunny!
reminds me of something with strawberries. luscious and gorgeous on you.
i agree this is not necessarily an autumn shade, but the coral and the pink balance of Mazette is just perfect it would work anytime of the year.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks so much, Lena! Mazette doesn’t pull orange on me, so it stands a better chance even when I turn paler.

  • http://jadeinthepalace.blogspot.com/ Cassandrapamela

Ooooh i love it!! it is such a beautiful color and looks very flattering against your complexion, Sunny!!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Pamela! It’s really mostly pink, and I have a soft spot for pinker corals since most pull orange on me :)

  • TracyBeautyReflections

It’s you! You and coral lipsticks= match in heaven! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Hahaha thanks, Tracy!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

      Thanks so much, Larie!

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

Ooh I love it! Sometimes it’s more fun to wear seasonally “inappropriate” colors, am I right?! I love a pop of pink or coral any time of the year, actually! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kristen, I can do coral all year as well, but not the more orange ones! Those look weird on me when I am paler!

  • beauties

    absolutely perfect!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Thanks, Eva!

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com/ Isabelle

This one looks super smooth! Might even work with my currently badly chapped lips! Thumbs up :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Isabelle, all the Rouge Diors I’ve tried look superbly smooth on! They help any dry bits I have slough off as well. See if you can lay your hands on the sample card I got to try the formula out!

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

Oh it seems so pretty, and great formula too!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Sofia! The formula is probably my all-time favorite now, just because it’s by far the most hydrating and plumping one on me!

  • http://beautyandtheeyeliner.wordpress.com/ Natalie

What a gorgeous color on you! It will definitely prolong the feeling of summer :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Natalie! It’s really more pink than orange, so I should be able to wear it for another while!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

It does look smooooooooth! I’ll have to check these out and try to work out a colour list, lol.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

LOL yeah I did that too! I stalked the Dior website and made a list of colors I’d like to swatch, and then I swatched them to make my priority list. I am meticulous when it comes to lipsticks. Wish I were that meticulous when I was studying :p

  • http://littleblissbook.com/ Rakhi Roy

I’ve been looking for some nice coral colors but I’ve never dared trying it out. I have red undertones to my skin so finding the right shade might be tricky. Gorgeous colors you have though!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Rakhi, hmm I’ve never thought about that! The easiest thing to do is trying a couple on at the counter to see how you feel! I hope you’ll find a great coral soon!

  • Krystle Kouture

Your looks look so smooth and hydrated. My lips usually look the opposite maybe this line can help!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Krystle, TRY THIS LINE! I swear even when my lips are drier, half an hour after I put a Rouge Dior on, they start to smooth out and plump up!

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Very pretty, plush, and natural. Almost looks like a balm!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Catherine! I agree, though this lasts for 4 hours with a light stain, so that’s minus the constant reapplication problem of a balm!

  • Lily

Yup, it definitely makes your lips look smoother and plumper too! Dior lippies are amazing :-)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Lily! I’m so loving this formula!

  • http://macaronsandmischief.com/ Whitney

“You get the impression that you’re getting stuff for free, but you really are not” .. LOL story of my life..that’s my thinking of sales too, but in fact I’m tricking my self :(

I think this is my favourite out of all the Dior Rouge lipsticks I’ve seen reviewed! I always want to get one..must have passed by and looked at them at least 10 times, but there’s so many colours I’m not sure if I wanted to go for a colour I’d use often cause it looks like the other 10 billion colours I own, or something a bit more out there.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I know, right? I always trick myself as well LOL

I say pick a color you are comfortable wearing! You can always wear a bolder shade as a stain though, so you have options :)

  • Icaria

The formula looks amazing and the color is sooo pretty! *sigh* :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, yeah that formula is highly possibly my personal favorite!

  • http://sweetjellybean.com/ Donah @ SweetJellyBean

Oh wow, that looks fabulous on you Sunny! I love love the colour, would definitely wear this all season. I’ve yet to own a Dior lippy and the look of that Guerlain ohh me like, too!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Donah! I wore it again yesterday and it just makes me happy! Definitely check this line out!

  • JhoAnne Luna

    is this limited edition?

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girl, nope I believe it’s part of the permanent line-up!
