In one word, Diesel‘s new perfume for her is pretty bada*s. The black flacon of Loverdose Tattoo should tell you about that much. It is shaped like a heart with diamond facets. The black heart is also pierced by an arrow. I might be interpreting this wrong, but it seems very Gothic to me!
Instead of naming the new version of Loverdose “intense,” Diesel went with Tattoo. According to Diesel, tattoo is a symbol of power and self-expression. In that vein, the scent is supposed to be as addictive and memorable: something a lover will never forget!
Diesel Loverdose Tattoo (RRP for 50ml/1.7 oz as pictured: 65,50 euros) has a combination of notes that are not uncommon for a mass market perfume. It begins with bergamot, mandarin orange, and cassis (black currant). Right off the bat you can smell the general sweetness and warmth, but at the same time a little citrus fruit gives the scent a fleeting tangy freshness. The heart notes include rose, orange blossom, and jasmine sambac. I personally don’t smell the orange blossom much, but the rose and jasmine are there. The most prominent notes, and the notes that are very present for my nose throughout the duration of this eau de parfum, are the base notes. It is a mixture of tonka bean, rice, vanilla, and milk. These are the notes that really last, making the perfume sweet and warm.
So here’s the thing: everything I just told you is the observation I made from studying this perfume on a piece of paper. I sprayed it on my wrists when I received the bottle. It began just fine, but after about 10 minutes I could feel my body chemistry disagreeing with it. I ended up having to scrub it off. It is a real pity, as it smells great on paper! But then again, perfume is so personal. I’d always advise people spray some on just to see how one develops on you, simply because you never know!
Diesel Loverdose Tattoo reminds me of some perfumes I used to own and love, the kind of sweet gourmand scents that I couldn’t get enough of. It shouldn’t be something that is too unfamiliar, but if you are a fan of this type of scents, Diesel Loverdose Tattoo definitely delivers!
Now a more personal question: do you have a tattoo? I have a couple of friends who do, and I love theirs to no end. Personally however, I am too much of a wimp for one! Also, I got my ears pierced when I was 16 without asking for permission first. To make peace with my parents afterwards, I had to promise I wouldn’t get more piercings or tattoos. OK, that really is just an excuse. The bottom line here is I have zero tolerance for pain!
