Color Inspiration: Khaki

Chloe sunnies, Chanel Mysterious

Autumn is the best season to rock khaki, and I hope you’re as ready as I am! The “color inspiration” series contains both beauty and non-beauty items I own that share the same color theme, and today it’s all about khaki!

I can’t envision a way of talking about khaki this season without mentioning Chanel Mysterious Le Vernis. I have been truly hooked on this grayed-out khaki, and I wear it often. I have also been enjoying these sunnies from Chloé. They are obnoxiously big, and I just think the khaki and gold detail go so well together!

My brother caught me off guard with this shot when I was trying them on in the store back in Taipei this summer (you can see the tag dangling from one side). It was love at first sight!

One of my favorite ways to wear khaki is on my lids, and here you see Dior Bonne Étoile 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette, Bobbi Brown Forest Shimmer Ink, Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird (not a khaki in the strictest sense, but it flash green me because of my olive undertone), and Rouge Bunny Rouge Olive Violetear.

Can you see just how many ways there are to interpret the concept of khaki? There has got to be a shade or two out there for everyone!

Last but not least, I recently repurchased Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub and Geranium Leaf Body Balm (I’m only showing you the body balm here because my tube of body scrub already looks very battered).

I love how well both formulas work for me. While the earthy scent might not be for everybody, it makes me positively giddy to be surrounded by it!

Is there some khaki in your life? What are your favorite khaki items?

The sunglasses look so chic on you!
I love khaki shades as well, and Chanel Le vernis is so pretty, I’ve already worn it 3 times, which is a record considering I own almost 500 nail polishes :P haha
Other khaki stuff in my life this season are an eyeshadow from a nyx palette, the Chanel quad Mystère, and a Marionnaud silky eyeshadow.

Thanks so much, Nati! I’ve worn it many many times as well. I think it looks great on both fingers and toes! (And wow, 500 nail polishes!!!)

Mystere actually isn’t all that khaki in my book, but there is this really nice khaki-y olive-y shade in Charming that I just know I’ll LOVE!

  • Lily

Love that photo of you in sunglasses. I love this shape myself! I love khaki eye shadows. I just got myself the Abyssinian Catbird and am wondering if I should get that Olive Violetear!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Lily! Olive Violetear is so interesting. You’d think it’s very cool-toned, but it works really well with warm-toned bronzes as well!

  • peggy timmermans

Totally love those shades, beautiful!!! And you look great with them!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Thanks so much, Peggy!

  • Icaria

Love khaki and yes I do wish Mystère had a little more of it but sometimes I layer some of the dark green from Clarins Forest & it gives it more oomf! Those glasses look fantastic on you!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, I’m still thinking about Clarins Forest LOL It’s a brand that I have systematically under-explored, but I keep seeing stuff that looks nice, and I’m tempted!

Suuuuuny, you look like a lil’ diva there with those sunnies (Sunny, sunnies, hah, I made myself lol at that one) :-) I loooove khaki, and you are right, fall is the perfect season to work that awesome shade.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha thanks, Melissa! I’d actually wear it all-year-round, but for some reason it screams fall :)

  • TracyBeautyReflections

The glasses are fab! I love khaki too-it’s one of my fave shades but I don’t wear it often enough. I think I need to find the right one!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Tracy! I hope you’ll soon find a khaki that you can wear more often!

  • Strawbry_Blonde

Oh swoon, love all these tones and amazing glasses! My fave Khaki is the L Mercier Caviar Stick, which I think you have too?

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Nic, I just bought that one in Taipei but I haven’t tried it yet! I would have done it but my eyes are now allergic to the air in Taipei (it’s probably the pollution. It’s a huge city with a lot of cars/scooters), so I actually had to leave my eyes alone the entire trip. Anyways I’ll try it soon, and I’ll keep you posted!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

Love those sunglasses :) I love all things khaki! Mostly for eyes. I haven’t fallen in love with it as a nail shade yet.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh you just have to find the right one, trust me ;)

  • beauties

love that picture of you :D

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Thanks so much, Eva!

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

One questions: do you get to wear sunglasses much in Belgium? ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Actually yes! I find sunglasses more of a necessity here than in Taiwan, because the sun is so low that it REALLY gets my eyes here! In Taiwan the sun is higher up, so it’s actually not as bad!

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

OOOHH how cool are those glasses on you, Sunny!!! And all these colors are beautiful… they’re neutral enough that they’re still in my comfort zone, yet a little more “color” than browns

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Catherine! You should definitely give khaki a go! It’s toned-down enough, and I’m willing to bet it’ll work so well with your eye color/skin tone :)

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

Thinking that suddenly I don’t have enough khaki eye shadows???! THANKS, SUNNY. lol

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

You’re welcome, Liz :p Even with the whole bunch of khaki/olive/green eyeshadows I own, every time I see one I still go “eeeee!”

  • LifeOfBun

Haha Sunny awesome shot, you look like a certified celebrity with the shades on and your lovely hair. :D Effortlessly glamorous..

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks so much, Anouchka! My fiance isn’t a fan of the sunnies because he says they’re “too big!”

  • http://redhotjillypeppers.com/ Redhotjillypeppers

You look so divalicious in that first picture ! Love the glasses on you.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Hahaha thanks so much, Jill!

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com/ Isabelle

THOSE SUNNIES ARE AMAZING! You look hella stylish with them. Kinda like a celebrity. No wonder your brother snapped that shot of you! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Isabelle! Now try to tell that to my fiance, who insists they’re “way too big!”

  • http://beautyandtheeyeliner.wordpress.com/ Natalie

I love this color!! I think its such a great shade for every skin tone and eye color.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Natalie, I’d love to think so as well!
