My 5 (Fine, 6) Product Face!

Mostly Sunny 5 Product Face

My pal Tracy tagged me a while ago in her 5-product face post. It’s such a fun idea that I decided to make it my first “tag” post! This is actually pretty much my everyday/errand-running face (on a good day. You could also catch me with just my brows and some lip color), which makes it extra fun to share! I somehow failed by using 6 products at the end. In my defense, it is because my lips are too pigmented! Read on to find out what happened.

Chanel Vitalumiere Compact Douceur, Cle de Peau Ocre (Ocher) Concealer

First thing first: good skin is pretty much everything. I bought the Clé de Peau Concealer (my shade is Ocher) when I was in Taipei, and I have been rather obsessed with it! I will review it soon. For the moment, let me just say I love how this works like a Photoshop healing brush! Chanel Vitalumière Compact Douceur has become my go-to, especially on lower-key days. It’s easy to apply, easy to touch up on, and it gives the skin a bit of a healthy sheen!

Diorshow Iconic Overcurl, Hourglass Arch Soft Brunette

As much as I love eyeshadows and eyeliners, when it comes to a basic look, they are the first to go in my book. My Hourglass Soft Brunette Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil on the other hand, is an absolute must. I also like how Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara opens my eyes a little!

LMdB Coral Nymph, Dior Spring Ball Addict Extreme

Last but not least, let’s pop some color back on the face! Initially I planned to use Le Métier de Beauté Coral Nymph Crème Fresh Tint for both my cheeks and lips. Alas, as I had minimal eye makeup on, it drained all the color from my face when I put it on my lips! As an emergency measure, I reached for my lipstick of the year, Dior Spring Ball Addict Extreme (I twisted it all the way up here just so you can see it really has been getting a lot of love). Again, it saved the day!

Here is how the two swatch. Left: Coral Nymph. Right: Spring Ball.

I usually reach for cream blushes for low-key days, as the good ones are very easy to blend in and I won’t have to take out/wash an extra brush. Some other favorites include Chanel Présage, and Chanel Affinité.

Here is the final look:

Gorgeous Sunny! You look fresh and lovely! That LMdB Fresh Tint is perfect on you! I’ve been using cream blushes a lot lately too and LOVE them. I hardly used them before, but now? I hardly touch my powder blushes! Funny how things change!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Tracy! I love cream blushes on low-key days! I won’t have to take out my brush or wash it afterwards! I do still like powder blushes though. I don’t have enough variety in my cream blushes to ignore all the powder ones!

  • Bella

You look very pretty!!!! I love the soft and subtle look. My 5-product face: Nars Sheer Glow foundation, also applied under eyes; Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette, Guerlain Cils d’Enfer mascara, Edward Bess Cream Lip and Cheek Thingey (LOL) in Island Rose; that or Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Rose. Since I even appear to have a product left, I may apply a swipe of Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Sand Glow :).

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Bella! YES glad to hear you’re also a fan of Arch! I like Cils d’Enfer as well, but I think the brush of Iconic Overcurl makes it easier to lift my lashes. If I use a liquid foundation/tinted moisturizer, I actually often skip concealer as well. It’s just that powder foundations take about 20 seconds to put on and on most days it’s all I want to do!

      • Bella

Too true, I still need to try the Chanel!

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

It looks lovely and natural, we’ll let you off for 6 products.
Mine would definitely be: concealer, eyeliner, mascara, cream blush, lip gloss (or a Clinique chubby lip stick). Et voila!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Sofia! I love your version as well! I don’t reach for eyeshadows/eyeliners on a daily basis, even though I truly do love them. It just takes more time than I have putting them on ;)

  • Lily

I think you look really fresh with minimal makeup, Sunny :-) The LMdB Coral Nymph looks great on you. Too bad it doesn’t work on your lips though.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Lily! I am actually fine with it not working on my lips. I don’t really believe in multi-purpose products. As long as they work well on my cheeks, I’m not going to complain!

  • Icaria

Love the fresh look! Minimal but polished. Chanel Vitalumière and Dior Overcurl are both on my list of “to try”. I swatched Chanel and the texture is super dreamy and seems to provide a little more coverage than Givenchy, am I right? :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Helene! I think so, too. That or the finish makes skin look a little smoother, and it lasts better as well! Even in Taiwan, it holds up well and doesn’t end up looking oily.

  • http://www.abeautifulzen.blogspot.ca/ jenn @Abeautifulzen

usually my everyday look is somewhat similar to this. i forgo lipstick typically but eyeliner is a must for me!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenn, the thing is most of the time I wear my glasses, so it’s easier for me to skip most eye makeup! Spring Ball is the only permanent resident of my purse, so it’s easy to put some on :)

  • rachlovespenguins

I wish I could leave the house with just brows and some lipstick, but unless I invest in some large sunglasses my raccoon eyes are never gonna let that happen. My quick face is usually mascara, concealer, meteorites to set, brow pencil,
and some form of eyeshadow. If I’m skipping the shadow primer step I
reach for one of my Armani ETKs, because of everything I own those do the
best without the stuff. Blush is sadly the first thing to go when I do minimal, and I pretty much never include a lip product in a count because when I’m in a hurry I never remember to put them on in the house anyway. Whenever I get where I’m going (and again if I remember, hahaha) I just pick one from the ridiculous amount that seem to grow exponentially in my handbag. And hey, why not just use one of those for blush later if need be- I’m sure at least one of them would work on cheeks in a pinch! lol

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Rach, haha I do that all the time! Not putting my best foot forward, but sometimes that’s all I can be bothered with. I usually wear my big geeky glasses, and I find that a bit of blush gives my face so much more “structure.”

      • rachlovespenguins

I must touch my face too much because my blush never sticks around past lunchtime anyway. Lately I’ve been getting my structure from the bronzing department. For some reason that lasts a bit longer. I am trying out one of Tarte’s cheek stains though, and so far so good there. :)

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Rach, oh hey yeah that’s a good idea, too! Maybe you can try layering a cream blush and a powder blush. That usually optimizes wear!

  • http://lipstickintheattic.blogspot.com/ Judith

That eyebrow pencil looks very good and I like your overall look, it’s the kind of look that make men believe we are not wearing make up =)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Judith! Yeah that’s true LOL

  • http://www.lenallure.com/ Lena L

    hi Sunny!
great job. i really like your look without the eyeshadow colors for some reason.
    you look fresh and youthful.
love the lip color on you. :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Lena! I’d be SO upset the day Dior decides to discontinue Spring Ball!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

Haha, cheater! ;) I like it a lot! Very fresh and easy.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

It was an honest accident LOL Thanks, Larie!

  • http://jadeinthepalace.blogspot.com/ Cassandrapamela

Oh Sunny you look pretty even only with 6 products! I think this challenge is too difficult for me to handle. lol :p

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Pamela, aww thanks! I usually can’t be fussed with more so this will just have to do LOL

  • http://lifeandlensofbeauty.blogspot.hk/ Jenni @ lifeandlensofbeauty

looks fresh, neat and tidy! I guess your skin must be perfect to get away with just 5-6 products! Mine isn’t LOL

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha thanks, Jenni! I think it’s really the concealer that’s good though!

  • ValleyDoll

Spring ball is gorgeous ! Love it !

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Eva! If I were getting married tomorrow it’s what I’d wear :)

  • Diana

I totally agree – eyeshadow is the first thing to go. I’d rather spend more time/products on my brows and face!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Diana, glad to hear you have more or less the same logic! I really can’t go out without my brows filled in LOL

  • peggy timmermans

Such nice make-up products! I can follow all these choices, except for the concealer as I don’t know the brand!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Peggy, Cle de Peau is Shiseido’s version of a luxury brand! It is not available in that many countries, but fortunately Taiwan is one of them.

  • http://angelandthings.wordpress.com/ Angel

Wow I totally can’t tell that’s a 5/6-product face! Girl you have amazing skin! And that lipstick is gorgeous!! I have heard so much abut the Cle de Peau concealer, but never tried it because of the price point… do you think it’s worth the splurge? How is it compared to lets say.. NARS creamy concealer?

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thansk so much, Angel! The thing with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is I liked it a lot when I first got it, but I have the impression that it is already drying out somehow, and nowadays it’s hard to make it look smooth and not cakey. I got the CDP one in Taiwan, where it is a bit less pricey. It also contains so much product that I’m sure I’m done in the concealer department for the next two years at least!

      • http://angelandthings.wordpress.com/ Angel

Ohh really! I hope my NARS one doesn’t dry out too fast :S I will go take a look at the Cle de Peau one next time I need a concealer! Thanks for the heads up :)

  • http://www.LipstickRules.com/ Michelle @LipstickRules

Gorgeous! I think I might give this a shot too!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Michelle, I’d LOVE to see your version!

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

I love your 6 product face! I think I’m going to do this, too! I was trying to pull out my picks earlier and ended up with 7…so I narrowed it down by dropping concealer and eyeshadow! Which are 2 things I use every single day but 2 days ago, I decided to do what I NEVER do and skip eyeshadow and liner in favor of a bold pink lip. I really liked it and it was so easy to do at 7 AM! Score! Spring Ball…..mmmmmmm…..come to mama!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Kristen! Yeah eyeshadow/liner are tricky in the morning. I don’t know about everyone else, but my eyes are usually a bit puffy in the morning. I have to wait for them to go down properly before I can do eye makeup! You should definitely check out Spring Ball! Mine is halfway through!
