While I adore shimmery eyeshadows, face products that contain shimmer always make me want to back away very slowly. I mean, what if the shimmer gets stuck in my pores? What if I end up looking like a disco ball? What if it magnifies the flaws? When I swatched Chanel Accent Joues Contraste, I swear the amount of shimmer made the hair on the back of my neck stand up a little. After I tried it on however, I was more than converted!
Chanel Accent Joues Contraste (84. please note that the version I have is the rest-of-the-world baked one) is a satin rosy beige with quite a bit of shimmer content. The texture is very soft, but not so soft that it becomes powdery or blends into nothing easily. It seems like I can pick up just enough color with a dab of my blush brush in the pan, swipe it on, and I’m ready to go! It blends beautifully, and here is the interesting thing: once it’s on, I can’t see any of the shimmer!
I have no idea what optical illusion Accent manages to pull off, but it looks nice and glowy instead of “shimmery” on. I wouldn’t say it is too glowy either, and it doesn’t seem to stress my pores. It also lasts really well! Besides the great texture and wear time, this shade is just oh-so-easy to wear. Despite the beige in it, it doesn’t read all that warm-toned on me. Therefore, I have successfully paired it with a cool-toned red lipstick without it looking “dirty!”
Here is how Accent swatches. Left: built up. Right: blended out.
I have been wearing Accent in almost all of my holiday collection looks. You have seen it in the following pictures:
Bottom line: I honestly didn’t expect to like Chanel Accent Joues Contraste as much as I do, but it turned out to be a real stunner! Besides the great texture, lasting power, and beautiful glow, the shade is extremely versatile. If you see it, don’t bother “swatching” it. Try it on instead. It might just blow your mind!
Do you like shimmery blushes, or do you usually avoid them?
