Bobbi Brown Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette

Bobbi Brown Sequin

Bobbi Brown has a couple of collections this holiday season. While Old Hollywood seems to be all the rage, let’s not forget about the Gift Giving Collection! Today I have Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette, an eye palette with 10 shades of glitz and glam, to show you!

Bobbi Brown Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette size scale

Bobbi Brown Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette (4 grams/0.14 oz. RRP in Belgium: 60 euros) comes in the typical sober and sturdy packaging of the brand. I had somehow imagined it would be bigger from the promotional images, but it is actually pretty tiny and cute!

Bobbi Brown Sequin holiday 2013

There are 10 shimmery shades in Bobbi Brown Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette. The texture seems baked, but all 10 shades are smooth and pigmented. What’s more, they blend easily and produce no fallout. There is also a mixture of warmer and cooler shades. I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to pick individual shades up with a full-size brush (MAC 239), but it turned out to fit just fine!

The first 5 shades swatched:

The other 5 swatched:

For the look, I used the 5th shade in the inner 2/3 of my lids, the 2nd on the outer 3rd, the 10th in the inner corners, and the 9th smudged over the gel liner on my lower lash line:

Bottom line: All in all, Bobbi Brown Sequin Shimmer Brick Eye Palette  has good quality. Just because most of the shades lean light and are shimmery however, you might want to throw some darker/matte shades into the mix if you want more definition. I would also recommend it more for fairer ladies, as most shades might end up looking very similar on bronzed beauties!

Too much glitz and glam for ya or is it something you would wear?

A little too shimmery and light for me, I’m afraid. But what a pretty palette!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kirti, I can see that! It probably won’t be as versatile for your skin tone. Actually the shades barely look distinctive enough on mine!

  • http://www.beautyaddiction1.blogspot.co.uk/ syrena85

I also thought this is going to be bigger than reality. To me there’s not enough variety of shades and right now I have many that would give quite similar effect. But I like the packaging a lot :-)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Irena, I hear ya! Bobbi Brown does nice and solid packaging!

  • http://www.colormeloud.com/ Sara_BeauTime

I also passed this one after seeing how small it was and how close the shades swatched. But I like the concept as a inner corner highlighter for example, to compliment other palettes.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sara, yeah I think I’d definitely have to combine this with something else to tailor it to my tastes in real life as well!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

Huh! I kind of like it! And I’m not a fan of BB haha! It’s very snow queen and I like that!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I was totally thinking about you and your snow queen thing when I was writing about this!

  • peggy timmermans

Ohhh i totally like those colours! Not very into these shimmery texture because..well..too old nowadays :) But I just love the brand and they have enough matte colours too!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Peggy, I actually think Bobbi Brown does better mattes than shimmery shades, but this palette is great in terms of texture and pigmentation.

  • beauties

there’s no such thing as too much glitter for me :D

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha, you go, girl! This is not “glittery” though, which is great!

  • Icaria

Pretty but as you may have guessed, not for me. I saw, I swatched, I passed. The shimmery shades I have in the palettes I own are enough for me and I don’t think I would reached for this one often enough to justify getting it. Love the look you created and that flick of eye liner is da bomb! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, I hear ya! I know you’re more into matte shades, so this is most probably not for you!

  • Lily

Oh, very pretty to look at!! But I doubt I’ll use it often :-( The whole palette is way too light for my liking. I love darker colours most of the time!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lily, yeah I prefer light-to-medium for my inner two thirds as well. Most shades in here would function as an inner corner highlighter for me!

  • rachlovespenguins

I may not like shimmery bits in my lipstick, or peeking out of my blush, but shimmery eyeshadow like this is sheer perfection. I find that I need some glitz and glam if my eyes are going to show behind my glasses!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Rach, we’re the same! I sport shimmer much more comfortably on my lids as well!

  • http://www.pinklavenders.com/ Rainy Days & Lattes

Wow, after its famous shimmer block blushes! I think this is definitely a very festive palette that’s perfect for the holidays and New Years Eve!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenn, yeah I think that’s the point! More glitz, more fun :)

  • Bella

Too much greyish glitter for my golden brown skin, but probably nice for some :).

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Bella, I do think this would look better on fairer girls, but there’s plenty of nice stuff out there for bronzed beauties as well! :)

      • Bella

        Absolutely!

  • http://www.beautyloves.be/ BeautyLoves

It does look very pretty, but I also thought it to be larger, when I saw the promotional photos. Will be passing this one, though, I’ve seen so many other palettes I’m more eager to buy.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I know, right? It’s interesting how sometimes you know EXACTLY what the shades would look on you from all the photos in the blogosphere, but the size of something still surprises you! So what are the palettes on your current wish list?

      • http://www.beautyloves.be/ BeautyLoves

Naked 3 and the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette For Eyes, beautiful! Also lusting after that Nars blush palette that’s sold out everywhere :D

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I don’t think the LM palette is still available anywhere! I don’t even use big palettes that often so I don’t buy them anymore, but that one makes me a little weak at the knees. I should be happy it sold out so fast here!

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

They all look the same to me T_T I wish they had included a larger variety of shades.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha yeah, I’m with you! However, I think this is just a generic shimmer brick thing.

  • http://makeupmorsels.wordpress.com Makeup Morsels

So cute! I always hear so much about these shimmer bricks, but never got around to trying one for myself. Should give these a swatch sometime, I can’t tell if these shades would work on me or not but I definitely like shimmer for the holidays!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey MM, I think there are some good ones for spring 2014 as well, but I don’t think you see something like this too often. Do check it out if shimmer is your thing :)

  • http://lipstickintheattic.blogspot.com/ Judith

I agree with you, even though this is a beautiful palette a bit more contrast would have been appreciated!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yeah. That or you can throw some darker/matte shades in the mix!

  • SprinklesOnACupcake

Oeh, love them pretty shimmery colors!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

If you like shimmery shades, this palette has a lot of them ;)

  • Replica

I disregarded this as assumed it would be too shimmery but I love how it looks on you, I will have to go and take a better look at this :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Clare! It is indeed very shimmery though. I’d like to know what you think once you’ve given it a swatch!

  • http://eyespaintedblack.com/ Natasja

The swatches look really good, something I wouldn’t automatically assume when looking at the palette.. even if it is from Bobbi Brown. I like it! But I’ve already bought too much stuff from Bobbi Brown this month.. spending too much money xD

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha what did you get? ;)

      • http://eyespaintedblack.com/ Natasja

I bought 2 shimmer eyeshadows, corrector, concealer and powder kit and a gold sparkly nail polish from the Christmas collection. :)

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

OOO that’s a good haul! I wish I could use her corrector/concealer, but unfortunately I always end up with smudgy eyeliner in a few hours with those!

  • http://www.belletristicbeauty.com/ Jenny

    Hi Sunny!
I saw this in the store–and it is SO tiny! It’s like a miniature palette. I passed on this though, because I thought it was just way too much shimmer. You make it look really good though!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenny, yup it’s actually all small and cute! I’d most probably pair it with matte shades for more dimension.

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

It’s pretty but all the shades seem to blur together to me. The tester I spotted at Sephora was a mess of shimmer so I was never very tempted by this.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh yeah if you run your fingers across all the shades, this palette is bound to get yucky!

  • http://www.abeautifulzen.blogspot.ca/ jenn @Abeautifulzen

ok. the shades on your lids are so perfectly shaped! tell me you went over them with some make up remover to get such i defined look or i’ll feel so bad about how haphazardly i slap on my shadows lol.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenn, uh no I actually never do that LOL The texture is easier to manipulate though. There are shadows that I can’t seem to get the same clean look with!

  • http://www.blushingnoir.com/ Brooke @ Blushing Noir

This is so much prettier than I thought it’d be! Now I feel like I need it =

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha go swatch it and see how you feel!

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

I love shimmer shadows so this would certainly be a welcome addition to my stocking! ;) It is pretty tiny and adorable.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kristen, oh if you like shimmery then this is for you! It is very compact!

  • Jacqueline Ma

I kinda wish they added darker shades to make this a more versatile palette but I love the looks you did with it. Pretty!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jacqueline, same here! I’d definitely add darker and matte shades into the look if I were to wear it in real life.

  • ValleyDoll

It looks gorgeous ! Though it might be too glitz and glam for me. I already have more than enough shimmery shades.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Eva, haha same here actually ;) I want a mix of things nowadays, though I’m sure I’d proudly sport the palette on my lids when I was younger.

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

The first time I saw a Bobbi Brown shimmer brick for eyes was a few years ago in the Singapore Changi airport. Even though really love Bobbi Brown product, I couldn’t see what the fuss was about with these because I swiped them and they all seemed to give the same pale white shimmery colour, I really could not distinguish a single colour between any (and to my knowledge I’m not colour blind, lol). Looks like they’ve really improved this kind of product since then!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, hmm do you mean the more typical type that has several horizontal shades and are meant more as a highlighter? If so I know what you mean!
