A Closer Look At… Some Pieces from Dior Trianon

Dior Trianon Collection spring 2014

A while ago I posted some quick swatches of Dior Trianon Spring 2014, and now we can finally take a closer look at some of the pieces! I have the *Trianon palette, *Songe Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte, *Minauderie Dior Addict Gloss, and *Porcelaine Dior Vernis to show you! The collection will be available on the 15th, so we really don’t have long to wait now!

Dior Trianon palette review

Dior (001 Favorite) Trianon Makeup Palette (for Glowing Eyes & A Fresh Complexion. RRP in Belgium: 85 euros) is apparently only available in certain regions. Favorite has three eyeshadows, one eyeliner, and one blush. There is a tiny eyeshadow brush and blush brush on top of the standard sponge applicator. I am relatively sure the brushes are made with real hair as well (they have been inspected by Tango the feline specialist. He is very enthusiastic about real hair, but lukewarm about synthetic hair, and he was practically snorting these two).

Dior Trianon palette shades

In terms of eyeshadows, there is a shimmery bronzed champagne, a grass green with gold shimmer, and a frosty cool pink. The liner is a slightly grayish black. It is swatched dry here and it took some layering, but I am pretty sure it’d be better damp!

Dior Trianon palette eyeshadow swatch

The green is the only sheerer shade here, so on the eyes it’s more like a hint of green than something very bold and opaque.

Dior Trianon palette blush swatch

The blush is a very fresh pink. I’ll have to try it on to see how well it shows up on my skin tone, as it is definitely on the lighter and more natural side!

Dior Songe (721) Duirsgiw Fusion Mono Matte

I liked the formula of Dior Millennium Diorshow Fusion Mono, and now there are some matte ones in the Trianon collection! Here you see Songe Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte (721. RRP: 34 euros), a beige-y nude.  However, this might not be available all over the world, either.

Dior Songe (721) Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte swatch

Songe is definitely more like a base shade. I don’t own any matte cream shadows, and I would like to see how pressed eyeshadows work with this one. So far, I have observed that pressed eyeshadows layered on top of Songe become much less shimmery. They take on a satin finish instead. I hope it will stay put as well as Millennium, as I see this working as a primer and base shade for some!

Dior Minauderie Dior Addict Gloss (382)

Dior Minauderie Dior Addict Gloss (382. RRP: 32 euros) is an antique pink with a lot of sparkle!

Dior Porcelaine Dior Vernis (204)

Last but not least, we have Dior Porcelaine Dior Vernis (204. 25 euros). It is a pastel baby blue. I quickly tried it on a nail and hey, it actually looks OK!

Would you be interested in trying any of these? Also, does anyone else’s pet go bananas about brushes with real hair?

  • Kate Driveller

LOL @ the Tango hair test! :D That is a very pretty palette — the colour combo reminds me of Suqqu Hisuidama from last spring, actually. I’m looking forward to your looks with it so I can steal ideas for that palette ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Kate, yeah he is SO helpful when it comes to that! OOO yeah you’re right! I’m the one who has to steal the ideas from you though! The number of looks you can do with one item still amazes me to no end!

  • corallista

They look really pretty but most of these wouldn’t show up on my skin tone! But the collection does have a definitive spring feel!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Ankita, I can see how spring colors aren’t optimal for you (they aren’t optimal for me, either)! I can see you rocking the lipsticks though!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

That palette is so pretty! Everything is so light and fresh! I like the looks of it!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Tracy, you can definitely pull these off better than I can!

  • http://www.lenallure.com/ Lena L

I like the idea of having everything in one pretty palette (well minus the lip products), but everything looks very pastel. Maybe it’s still too cold embrace all that, yet. ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lena, this palette is actually OK for me. The two 5 Couleurs are definitely something I HAVE to layer over a darker base. I’m glad Dior chose to put a blush in this one, and the brushes are soooo cute!

  • http://www.beautyaddiction1.blogspot.co.uk/ syrena85

Hi Sunny, I checked the testers out yesterday and just completely fell in love. They haven’t got the products yet but will very soon. I love most of that collection and lipsticks and lipglosses are just like made for me :-)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Irena, I’m glad to hear you’re liking some stuff from Trianon! I have to check out Corail Bagatelle and the lipsticks when the collection becomes available here.

  • http://www.nailsandcupcakes.com/ Isabelle

Imagine Chippers going bananas over brushes with real hair.. haha!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh hahaha I don’t think Chippers can tell (which is GOOD for you)!

  • Lily

I just did a collective swatch at the counter today, and found the Mono Fusion mattes to be very very sheer. There’s one that seems like a great brow / crease colour. I like the eye colours from Favourite, and the blush from the other palette… if only I could switch them out. LOL!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lily, do you mean the pastel shades? I agree. The pastel lavender purple is really pretty sheer. Do you guys get TWO bow palettes? We only get this one here.

  • Diana

I’m definitely loving Songe! The other colours not so much (too much pastel), but the packaging is definitely to die for.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Diana, yeah the packaging and the pattern are seriously cute! I have to check out Corail Bagatelle when the collection is available. It’s not that I need ANOTHER coral blush, but I want it anyways ;)

  • http://scribblewithliner.wordpress.com/ Siri Lovise Eliassen

Great swatches :) We ecieved the products yesterday in my store, but we didn’t get the testers yet, so it’s good to get e reminder of what the Trianon palette looks like:) I suspect Porcelaine to swatch very similar to Ciaté’s Ferris Wheel, so probably won’t be getting that one, although I’ve got my eyes on the pearl one – torn between that one and Guerlain’s white shimmer.
I do believe we actually got the beige cream shadow here, along with three others and FINALLY an eyeshadow base from Dior.
I’d like to have the Trianon palette, just because it’s a pretty collector’s item, and because of the brush, but I couldn’t justify making the purchase on that basis, so I’ll let this one pass me by.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, girl! I hope you’ll get the testers soon! I saw the top coat that is supposed to make nails look like frosted candy, and I actually really like it over the pastel nail polishes in the collection! Otherwise I’m not that big on special effect top coats (just because I’m lazy). Yeah I think Europe as a whole should receive Songe!

I know what you mean. It really is more like a collector’s item. I definitely think it’s better than what we got last year though, with the nice brushes and a blush in the center. I am not that big about palettes that contain both powder and cream.

      • http://scribblewithliner.wordpress.com/ Siri Lovise Eliassen

We got ‘em yesterday. I had to call in a friend in order to convince myself I didn’t need the palette after all – it was prettier than I remembered. And the blush was one I might actually use.

And I was right about Porcelaine and Ferris Wheel – and needing Perle :p I can definetely see myself wearing that one on it’s own as well as a topcoat.

Surprise items though were the coral blush, which I’d like to have right now, but I did a good job of selling it, so we’re out. I did however find that I actually needed the Lip Glow, and Songe, which is the beige eyeshadow I’ve been looking for. Also worthy of note is the greige shade Mirage, but for now I need some no-fuss brightening products, to make me look a little more alive and awake. So those two are priorities

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha Perle is actually one of the few special effect top coats that I’m interested in trying! You already sold all the Corail Bagatelle? LOL Songe is interesting in a way that it slightly changes the color and texture of the eyeshadows you layer on top (a shimmery shade becomes satiny), but it does last well on its own! I don’t even use a lip balm during daytime, but here I am dreaming about that coral lip glow!

  • Icaria

I will definitely try to get closer the the Trianon palette this week! I’m curious to see that light pink and blush in real life, they just might be deal breakers for me but if I do decide to get it I’ll definitely have to make sure Fifi doesn’t get her paws on the brush! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, oh yeah keep Fifi away from the brushes! Tango is the only cat here who has tried to run away with my MAC 217 in his mouth. I showed him the Wayne Goss eyeshadow brushes I got, and he went CRAZY sniffing them (I think part of the hair is blue squirrel, which might explain it)!

  • http://www.abeautifulzen.blogspot.ca/ jenn @Abeautifulzen

i hope you do an eye look with trianon. i have a smiliar green and never know what to do with it,

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenn, I will! The looks will slowly roll out for sure. This shade is softer, so I’m thinking it’d work if I layer it on top of that champagne bronze for just a HINT of green.

  • birtegovarts

OOOH, I want it all :-).

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

They’re so pretty to look at!

  • SprinklesOnACupcake

So pretty <3 Love the eyeshadow colors, but the nail polish look pretty cute too, can't wait to see it on your fingernails. x

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Petra! I’ll work on the swatches/looks as soon as I can!

  • Dominique33

Some items from this lovely collection are now on my ” official ” wishlist, the 2 quints, at least 1 gloss and all nail polishes. Such a pretty pastel collection !

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Dominique, ahh I can’t wear those two quints to save my life, but if you can rock pastels you should take a look at them!

      • Dominique33

I picked up 7 items from this collection today, both quints ^^, 2 glosses, the lipbalm and 2 nail polishes. Both are very pastel indeed, just love them ! I also picked up Insolence lipstick and les Tendres from the Guerlain collection, well my 1st spring haul in fact^^.

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

I got the gloss in Exquise as you know. So happy with it! :) I can’t wear pastels so the rest are a pass, but the collection as a whole is quite pretty!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Wheee yeah that’s definitely what I’d pick for myself as well! Pastels are so nice to look at, but the yellow in my skin doesn’t permit me to wear them as well as someone fairer/pinker ;)

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

That gloss is not coming here, I think, lol. I am so confused by their seasonal releases sometimes.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Larie, uh no? This is just SO strange. I think they get almost everything in Asia, except some of the Rouge Diors are once again the more toned-down version.

  • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Meh. Overall, this is way too pastel-y for me. Though beige-matte shadows are always appealing

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Catherine, oh you haven’t seen the two 5 Couleurs and singles LOL Songe is interesting in a way that it doesn’t work as a primer per se. It tones down the shimmer level in eyeshadows layered on top. If you have a lot of very shimmery eyeshadows but want something more appropriate for the work place, Songe might be worth a look!

  • rachlovespenguins

I’ve been really surprised by swatches of Porcelaine. It’s not my cup of tea, but I think it looks really good for a pastel baby blue!

The regional release thing is going to make me sad though, because it’s looking like we’re not getting the lipstick I wanted here. Bummer. :/

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Rach, wait which lipstick do you want? Just a tip: check out Feelunique when this collection is in stock here. They should have the same stuff we get here, and they ship for free!

      • rachlovespenguins

Souveraine. The only info I’ve seen here gives us two lipsticks, rose crinoline and allegresse. I haven’t seen any of the eye palettes with the bow design pressed into them either. Our palette is plain looking. I’m hoping that maybe some items just haven’t made it out yet. And thanks for the shopping tip!!!

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

He Rach, hmm that’s strange. Well now you know there is always a way of laying your hands on the Dior stuff you see here!

  • http://polished-polyglot.blogspot.ch/ Nati

What can I say?… you temptress! hahaha
Ok, let’s get serious, I think this spring I’ll get nail lacquer from Dior, eye palette from YSL and a lippie or two from Chanel and THAT’S IT.
Sounded like a new year resolution :P

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Nati, that’s already quite a good shopping list! The texture of YSL requires more work, though I can see how the colors will work well with your eyes!

      • http://polished-polyglot.blogspot.ch/ Nati

Sunny, honestly I never ever bought a YSL eye makeup, ever! and I do not own any predominantly pink eye palette combo, so I thought why not? Do you think the shades lack pigmentation or are difficult to blend?

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Nati, I think they are definitely on the dry side, and with all the micro-glitter in virtually every shade, you should most probably expect some fallout. I have to give YSL credit for doing something out of the box, It’d just be great if they had done it with a better formula!

  • http://www.blushingnoir.com/ Brooke @ Blushing Noir

Ugh. I totally want that palette… I’m so upset about them telling me it won’t be available here =( I’m not crazy about the blush color… but I love the shadows. Dangit!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww so sorry to hear that, Brooke. It’s weird since I tend to think there is a bigger market for cosmetics in North America! I am a little worried the blush wouldn’t show up too well, but I still haven’t got time to try it out properly yet!

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

Ooohh so adorable to look at, just don’t think these pastel colours would suit me though :(

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, yeah I know what you mean. This is already the less pastel part of the collection as well ;)

  • http://eyespaintedblack.com/ Natasja

Hi Sunny! I love the new lay-out! Sleek and sweet! These products look gorgeous (my-oh-my) but some of them (excluding the nail polish and darker eyeshadows) will probably be too light for my skin tone. :(

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Nastasja! Yeah that’s a generic problem with spring collections. Songe works as a nude base for me, but it is true that if your skin tone is a tad darker, it might not show up!

  • peggy timmermans

I can say that i’m already just by seeing these pictures hooked on the lipsloss! I love Dior’s lipglosses in general and this one screams spring!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Peggy, Minauderie doesn’t show much color on me, but the sparkle is pretty! I think it’ll layer well on top of many shades as well.

  • http://miaka-mylife.blogspot.com/ Ruby Chua

I’m really tempted to get Procelaine!!!

Oh yes, my kitties does get curious over the brushes with real hair! They even wanna lick it!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Ruby, haha yeah, that and running away with them!

  • Replica

I have often found the quality of their limited edition palettes that contain shadows not as good quality as the quints, do you find this the case with the Trianon palette?
I think I will pick up a blusher and the coral lip glow balm but no sure if I will get anything else…of course once I see it in person I must just go nuts and get loads as common sense leaves me when I see a new collection… ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Clare, hmm I’m inclined to agree with you, though the only real problem here is the green. I’d love to see what you end up picking up! If it were up to me I’d get the coral blush and that coral lip glow as well!

  • Vitacha Milueva

I have recently bought Procelaine and Bouquet nail polishes, they are cute!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh yay! Glad to hear you like them! I am still pining for the special effect top coat ;)
