Chanel Émotion Rouge Coco Shine & Chanel Coup de Coeur Le Vernis: The Plum Power Couple of Chanel Collection Variation

Chanel Emotion Rouge Coco Shine, Coup de Coeur Le Vernis

Pretty much the second I set my eyes on *Chanel Émotion Rouge Coco Shine and *Chanel Coup de Coeur Le Vernis, I knew we were going to be good friends. As it turned out, I was not wrong!

Chanel Emotion Rouge Coco Shine (92)

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine has one of those lipstick/lip gloss hybrid formula. It has a light rose scent that I like. At some point last year, Chanel reformulated Rouge Coco Shine by adding 30% of pigment. They are now still very easy to wear, but they add more color to the lips than a tinted lip balm!

Chanel Émotion Rouge Coco Shine (92) is a beautiful plum. Most plummy lipsticks in my stash have way more pink than Émotion. It glides on extremely easily. You’d be surprised by the amount of color it delivers, even though it might not look too pigmented in the swatch. The finish is so glossy that it reminds me of raspberry jelly!

Here is how Émotion swatches:

It is just one pass! Can you see the beautiful jelly finish, too?

Émotion wears for about 3 hours and a half on my lips. It resists to drinking, but you would have to reapply after a meal. The formula is not drying, even perhaps lightly hydrating. It does leave a little bit of a stain and it fades evenly, so on a whole it is very low-maintenance.

A couple of shots of Chanel Émotion Rouge Coco Shine on me:

Now let’s move on to Émotion‘s plum partner in crime, Coup de Coeur Le Vernis (609)!

Chanel Coup de Coeur Le Vernis (609)

Coup de Coeur is a plum with a cream finish. There is absolutely nothing I can nitpick about the formula here. The consistency is perfect (so it is easy breezy to work with), and it is almost perfectly opaque and even with one coat!

Such a juicy plum!

Who else is digging Émotion and Coup de Coeur as much as I am?

  • Kate Driveller

Sunny, you said the J word! D: Why would you go and do that?! I had no idea Chanel reformulated the RCS — now I really must revisit the line with this one first 😀

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha because it really does look like jelly? :p

They did it at some point last year! Google Suspense and you’ll see how crazy pigmented it is!

  • corallista

Power Couple indeed! I have to try the Rouge Coco Shines now.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Ankita, there are some really sheer Rouge Coco Shines, but the newer ones are reasonably to highly pigmented!

  • Bella

These are right up my street. Must-haves!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Bella, I hope you’ll like these!

      • Bella

I went shopping this morning and bought the Rouge coco shine in Emotion and Levres Scintillantes in Toscade (? too lazy to check spelling). The nail varnish seems to be a dead ringer for April from a couple of years ago, which I still have, so I passed.

        • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Bella, yay great picks! I did hear Coup de Coeur might be similar to April, but I don’t own it so I can’t compare. That’s money saved for other pretty stuff tho!

  • Sofia

Gosh I love the color of the lipstick! I’ve never cared for that kind of shade nailposlish but I’m really liking it in your photos – I usually do really nude nails, or vampy something nearly black…

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, it might sound strange but I always end up liking cream nail polishes more! Metallics, holos, and shimmery ones tend to catch my eye, but at the end, I use the cream ones more often. That’s why I’m seeing potential with Coup de Coeur here 😉

  • Caise

I swatched this lipstick yesterday and I didn’t like it.. I might go back to Sephora and swatch it again because it looks so beautiful on you:-)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Daria, I think this is one of the lipsticks that don’t swatch quite as beautifully as it really is! I wasn’t sure how pigmented it was going to be till I tried it on :)

  • peggy timmermans

I really like both of them, the lipstick suits you very well and I like this texture…whell I don’t know how it would be on my lips but it looks pretty good!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Peggy! I bet it’ll look great on you, too!

  • fancie

Beautiful colors! I need to check out the new Shines now that they’re more pigmented!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Fancie, yeah you should totally do that! I was never really tempted by the Rouge Coco Shines till they put more pigment in it, mostly because the very sheer shades won’t make much difference for my pigmented lips.

  • Icaria

Digging I am!!! I’m so disappointed that my counter hasn’t recieved these yet. Want! :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Helene, I don’t know when the collection will be available in North America, but I hope it’s soon!

      • Icaria

I sure hope so or I’ll have to bribe a certain friend in Belgium… 😀

        • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

          Oh you can 😉

  • TheProcrastinator

Coup de coeur is so 90s — LOVE. I remember these sort of magenta/berry hues all over everyone’s nails, probably when I was way too young to be even playing with nail polish. I’ll have to swatch it!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hahaha I think it was popular some years ago as well, and now it’s making a comeback!

  • Jacqueline Ma

Emotion looks so pretty on you. I hope this doesn’t sound weird but you have lovely lips.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Jacqueline! Aww that’s really nice of you! <3

  • Sakura

Does emotion looks like monte carlo?

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girl, I don’t own Monte Carlo, but the swatches I found online make me think they are not similar at all!

  • Shari

Ooooh! ME! I like both shades, the lipstick and the nail polish!!
Although the polish shade reminds me of April. And gosh, you have pretty lips Sunny *jealous*

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Ahhh thanks, Shari! I bet these two would look great o you! I don’t own April, but I do see some resemblance.

  • Lena L

They go beautifully together! I love the lip color on you.
I would normally dismiss nail colors like that thinking it’s a “mom color”, but there is something very sophisticated and modern about Coup De Coeur.
(Gah, this is why I can’t really dismiss Chanel..) ;p

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Lena! I’m with you. My first reaction when I see something like this is always “meh,” but once I try it on, I can appreciate the classic beauty!

  • rachlovespenguins

Yep, totally want that lip colour. I feel a possible Chanel haul coming since, well, this (lol) AND I’m still completely smitten with the blush on my wish list…

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Haha which blush is it?

      • rachlovespenguins

        • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh yeah! If you get it I hope you’ll like it!

          • rachlovespenguins

I’m sure I will! I’m finding that the scarier it looks in the pan, the more a blush seems to scream “buy me buy me buy me!” Hahaha. There’s something magical about sheering out a colour like that. I *should* be practical and seek out a tester first though, as it’s no help to me that all my pretties look different in the pan if they all look more similar than not when sheered out! My brain might see the minute differences but I and my wallet are determined to avoid ‘hoarding mode’ 😛
The wait for Variation is gonna kill me though – we aren’t scheduled to get these pretty lippies until the middle of March! *cries*

          • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh wow that’s quite a wait! Sometimes it happens with Chanel though. The seasonal collections always come out earlier in the US, but the small in-between ones sometimes hit the shelves here first.

  • TracyBeautyReflections

Love em both! I like the whole match your lips to your nails look. I think it’s sophisticated!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Tracy! Same here. It’s matchy matchy in a cool way!

  • Lou

Lovely, both these shades are right my up street and in my colour family. Cannot wait for them to hit the UK. They look stunning on you

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Lou! I hope they’ll be available soon!

  • Redhotjillypeppers

That’s a very pretty plum shade. It looks great on you !

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Jill! I bet it’ll look great on you as well!

  • Natasja

Both are gorgeous… and I especially love the nail polish. There’s just something about pink-toned nail polish.. you can’t have enough :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      Haha it’s very girly!

  • Natalie

Those are such stunning colors on you! These both look amazing.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Natalie! I bet they’ll look fantastic on you as well!

  • jenn @Abeautifulzen

pretty as always sunny! i’m liking the berry tones of the polish. i think that would work better on me than straight up red.

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Aww thanks, Jenn! Yeah that is possible, although there are so many different reds as well! You should swatch some just to see!

  • Lily

Oh, the nail colour looks really good. The lips look very natural on you too. So berries and corals are your colour, Sunny :-)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha thanks, Lily! I’m definitely finding more nice shades to wear every day :)

  • makeupmagpieblog

Both of these are beautiful on you! I love the slightly sheer finish of the lipstick, and the nail color is such a pretty, classic plum :)

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much! It’s interesting how pigmented the lipstick really is though! Sometimes I get tricked by the swatches!

  • liss cope

they both look great on you! I specially like the nail polish <3

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Liss! If I had to pick, I’d pick the lipstick, but that’s because I don’t wear nail polish very often (housework, picky nails…)!

  • Liz

Oh, great news about Rouge Coco Shines! I always hesitate paying more for sheer things and saw the other day that these seemed much more appealing than they used to in the past. This is the first time I’m hearing of 30% more pigment. Yay!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Liz, yeah I think that happened at some point last year! I actually like lipsticks with a bit of translucency (RCS, Guerlain Rouge Automatiques, Dior Addict/Addict Extreme…). They make great everyday lippies!

  • Budziak

I LOVE raspberry/rosy shades, these are great! I’m planning on getting made over by Chanel this year for Nordstrom’s annual trend show. I just wish it was sooner instead of having to wait until Fall -_- Now I’ll have some things to add to my to try list though! Thanks!

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

You’re welcome, girl! Oh Chanel makeovers are fun! I had one at the end of last year. The MUA was SUPER professional and had a good eye! I hope you’ll have fun as well!

Fortunately Emotion is permanent, so you can definitely wait a while :)

  • maxine

I love these shades of pink and I equally how they look on you! :) I do see its gel finish and I’m glad that they added 30% pigment to their lippies! I feel like its added pigmentation give you more bank for your buck. :)

I love the polish as well but I don’t buy a lot of polishes just because I cannot for the life of me apply them on myself. :(

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks so much, Maxine! My problem with very sheer lippies is they just won’t show up on my lips at all. The extra pigment is great news!

I’m sure you’ll get the hang of nail polish application with some practice! I was REALLY bad at it, but now I’m OK!

  • ValleyDoll

I love the nail polish ! Looks really good and it’s the perfect not-too-girly shade :-) !

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Eva, oh I get what you mean! It’s very sophisticated, something I see teenagers as well as moms enjoy!

  • expatmuaddict

I really like the look of Emotion, just read about it on Isabelles blog too-definitely on the wish list x

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Stacey, oh I love it! I’d like to see how it looks on you. It’s so much bolder and redder on everyone else, it seems!

  • fiona furtado

Love both the lipstick and le vernis

    • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

      They’re great shades!
