Bobbi Brown says YES to shimmer with 12 new shimmery additions to her Lip Color line. They are supposed to be lightweight and moisturizing with a sheer yet multi-dimensional effect. Let’s take a quick look at *Raspberry Shimmer and *Malt Shimmer to see what they’re like!
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Colors (RRP in Belgium: 25 euros. Availability: March) come in the same packaging as the rest of her Lip Colors, and the formula is barely scented (when I really sniff I think I can smell something, but otherwise no).
Bobbi Brown Raspberry Shimmer Lip Color (1) is a medium bright pink with mostly gold shimmer. The color payoff is semi-opaque, which makes it very easy to wear. I can feel a bit of “texture” when I press my lips together, but otherwise the formula is comfortable to wear. It lasts for about 3 hours on me. If you eat or drink, the shimmer does travel a little.
This is how Raspberry Shimmer swatches. Left: one pass. Right: built up.
You see the shimmer better in the lip closeup:

(I have no idea how I nicked the tip of Malt Shimmer!)
Bobbi Brown Malt Shimmer Lip Color (5) is a coppery brown with a good dose of gold shimmer. Remember how I always whine about brown lipsticks not being flattering on my skin tone? This one has to be an exception! Like Raspberry Shimmer, I can feel a bit of “texture” of the shimmer, but it wears comfortably otherwise.
That’s a lot of gold shimmer! I have the impression that the shimmer in Malt Shimmer is a bit more tenacious, so if it migrates out of your natural lip lines, it’s not quite easy to clean up.
Finally, a brownish lipstick that doesn’t make me look sick!
Which would you pick if you had to, shimmery lipsticks or non-shimmery ones? I enjoy some shimmery lipsticks, but hypothetically if I had to pick one kind to stick to for the rest of my life, I might go with non-shimmery ones!
