Chanel Les 4 Ombres 2014 Sneak Peek!

Chanel Les 4 Ombres 2014

Great news, everyone! If you have always wished Chanel would start releasing one version of their Les 4 Ombres, Chanel has heard us. The new Les 4 Ombres have a hybrid texture that is smooth, lightweight, and intensely pigmented. They are inspired by the tissue of the iconic tweed jacket in the sense that the four shades work together in harmony. Also, there are several different color placements you can try, so they are very versatile! Let’s take a quick look at *Tissé Vendôme Les 4 Ombres, *Tissé Gabrielle Les 4 Ombres, *Tissé Cambon Les 4 Ombres, Vert Grisé Le Volume, and *Smoky Grey Stylo Yeux Waterproof today!

In terms of packaging and price (RRP in Belgium: 50 euros. Availability: 3rd March), the new Les 4 Ombres are no different from their predecessors. The new generation contains 2 grams (0.07 oz) of product each. Since the eyeshadows appear to have the same volume, I am going to assume it is because the texture is much more lightweight.

Chanel Tissé Vendôme Les 4 Ombres (204)

Chanel Tissé Vendôme Les 4 Ombres (204) reminds me quite a bit of Quadrille in terms of color combination. However, since the finish and level of pigmentation are significantly different, it would most probably produce a very different effect!

The swatches are pretty much done with one pass! The new texture is amazingly smooth, and the eyeshadow glides onto the skin with no effort whatsoever!

Chanel Tissé Gabrielle Les 4 Ombres (208)

Next up, we have my personal favorite, Tissé Gabrielle (208). It was used on the annual Métiers d’Art show in Dallas, Texas at the end of last year. I have a hunch that this one is going to be pretty popular!

Again, the quality is eye-opening! Can you imagine how pretty of a smokey eye it can create?

Chanel Tissé Cambon Les 4 Ombres (228)

If you crave for fun colors, you might just find them in Tissé Cambon (228)!

The lightest shade here isn’t as quite intensely pigmented as the rest, but it won’t be much of a setback for me personally, since I will only use it in my inner corners. The taupe has some pretty micro-glitter. I’m hoping the hybrid texture will help it stay put!

Chanel Vert Grisé Le Volume de Chanel Waterproof (30)

Fans of colored mascara will get a kick out of Vert Grisé Le Volume (30. RRP in Belgium: 31,50). This limited edition darkened forest green could be a lot of fun!

Chanel Smoky Grey Stylo Yeux Waterproof (905)

The other limited edition item in the collection (everything else is permanent from what I can see) is Smoky Grey Stylo Yeux Waterproof (905).

It looks more like a dirty, grayed-out olive green to me. It is also pretty soft for a Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof!

For those of you who are curious, here is the ingredient list of the new formula:

What’s your first impression of the new formula? I’ll show you some different looks with the suggested placements as soon as I can! Just so you know though, I came down with a cold last night, so that might have to wait till my eyes are less watery!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  • cindyprimebeauty

Tissé Vendôme looks lovely! The green mascara sounds amazing, can’t wait for your looks. Hurry and feel better LOL!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha I’m trying! I’m also eyeing Tisse Rivoli. It looks like the perfect taupe/eggplant quad!

  • ValleyDoll

Tissé Gabrielle is totally my thing ! Must have it !

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I bet you can get a gorgeous smokey eye out of that one!

  • Lily

Eeee, I see pinks. Nope, I’ll pass :-P

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hahaha not EVERYTHING has pink though! I’m eyeing Tisse Rivoli. It’s got taupes and an eggplant!

  • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.com/ Kiss & Make-up

I like all three quads. Can I just have all three? :-)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh I bet you can do interesting things with all of them!

  • Anne

The first two quads look great! It’s been a while since I’ve been excited by the release of a Chanel eye product!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Anne, I know what you mean! Some more pigmentation never hurts nobody :)

  • 38noodles

I think I’m gonna have to go have a play with Cambon, even though I’m sure I can dupe the colours… but so purdy~
How did the stylo apply? I’ve been too afraid of their stylos since an SA tried the electric blue one from last summer’s collection and more or less performed eye surgery on my lids.
    Thanks for the preview!!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girly, I still have to try the stylo on my eyes (can’t for the moment. So sick!), but it feels smoother than most of the shades I have tried before. I’ll keep you posted!

  • Icaria

Hey Sunny, aren’t these dreamy? Lucky you, getting to play with them! I was told about these when I got the info about Jardin Zen and will go have a look this week to see if we’ve recieved them. Apparently, no more baked shadows which I think will please a lot of people. It’ll be real hard to choose! :( Now go cuddle up with your kitties and get well soon! xoxo

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

They are! They’re SOOOO smooth, and the pigmentation is amazing! I know I’m still eyeing Tisse Rivoli and maybe Tisse Venitien. Can’t wait to see them in real life!

  • http://www.colormeloud.com/ Sara_BeauTime

Yay! You have them already. They should be around in a week or so, so can’t wait to touch them in person. I was mostly interested in Gabrielle since I looove a good smokey eye but does all these dark shades are so close? I hope on the lids they look a bit more distinguished.

By the way hope you get well soon, drink lots of tea and rest :-*

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yup JUST laid my hands on them this week! Can’t wait to see the other 5 quads, though I’m hoping I’ll have some self-restraint.

I see your point. I’d say a couple of the shades seem fairly close on my skin tone, but you should swatch it and see if they’re different on yours! They look like complex shades that could look very different on different people!

  • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

Hey Sunny, I must have missed out on something!?! So are these not those typical European baked quads we used to get (that I threw mine out they just would not perform well enough). Are these a different formula? Better? If so, how exciting, I like the look of Tissé Gabrielle.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, these are new and they’re TOTALLY different from baked quads! Chanel has reformulated, and I THINK from now on this is the formula they’ll use. They are hybrid (no mica), so they are significantly different from both the baked and non-baked versions! It’s pretty exciting!

      • http://papayapieces.com/ Sofia

Thats great news for us that live in Europe! :) Do you think they’ll change all the current colours into that, or just the new palettes as from now. .. Whatever the case am happy to hear it :)

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Sofia, from what I heard, SOME of the existing quads will stay the way they are, but most are actually going away. The impression I get from the press release is this is the new formula from now on though!

  • Chia-Yi Liu

Vendôme is right up my alley & might have to come home with me if I pass by the counter here in Taipei. Cambon looks fun too! Can’t wait to see your looks!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girly, you’re in Taipei now? Jea-lous! Eat some nice stuff for me! I hope they’ll launch there soon! I’ll work on the looks as soon as this cold is over :)

  • http://modest-mix.blogspot.com/ Lys

These look great! I’m mostly curious about the mascara

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

My experience with colored Le Volumes is that they aren’t SO colored that you would spot them immediately, but they do play well with eyeshadows and eye colors. I’ll keep you posted!

  • http://lipstickintheattic.blogspot.com/ Judith

Tissé cambon is so feminine and pretty!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

It’s a fun one indeed! I’m warming up to pink eyeshadows :)

  • TracyBeautyReflections

I’m excited for the new texture! I’ve always HATED Chanel eye palettes, so this is great news!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha yeah I know that! You might really like these though!

  • http://www.lenallure.com/ Lena L

I’m happy to hear about the reformulation! I have this feeling I might like this formula better than the U.S. one?
It is kinda unfortunate to my wallet that I saw the Tissé Gabrielle, cause I think I need it! ;)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Lena, I think so, too. This one seems more pigmented in general compared with the pressed version of US quads. Tisse Gabrielle is going to look so stunning on you!

  • makeupmagpieblog

So glad to hear the texture has been improved. These look great in your swatches! Tisse Cambon is my favorite :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m sure it’s going to look super sweet and feminine on you!

  • http://www.sakuranko.com/ Sakuranko

Oh very beautiful eyeshadows quartets Tissé Cambon was my favorite~
    xx

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

That looks like a fun one indeed!

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

Lol you are the fifth blogger I’ve come across today who mentioned she has a cold. Me, too. That mascara shade is beautiful – I wonder how it will look actually on the eyes. I’ll have to wait to see these land here but I’m afraid to approach in case crazy things happen, lol.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Gah it just hit me so hard out of NOWHERE on Thursday night, and it’s still not over! I hope you’ll get better soon!

I’ll work on the looks as soon as this is OVER!

  • Jacqueline Ma

Thanks for the lovely swatches dear Sunny, something to look forward to.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jacqueline, I can’t wait to see which of these you’ll pick up!

  • http://girlbehindglasses.wordpress.com/ Nikki Paderna

Tisse Vendome looks so lovely! And that kind of pigmentation with one swipe? I’m sold! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yeah pretty much! Chanel is very generous with pigmentation when it comes to the new formula!

  • http://www.thepaintedrogue.wordpress.com Syirael

So pretty! I love the greys in this collection, actually (although I’m not sure how the mascara would turn out on me). This reminds me that I have a lovely Chanel eyeshadow compact hat I can’t find! :-( I must look for it again!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey girl, aww I hope you’ll find it! It gets SO hard to organize all the pieces once you have… one too many ;)

  • Replica

Too much prettiness for my eyes to take in… ;) I am so looking forward to these, I am sure I’ll end up wanting them all xx

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha I like most of the shade combinations. This neutral-with-a-twist thing is VERY much my thing!

  • http://lamajesty.wordpress.com/ Emae

Oh wow. Chanel. Take all my money! Excited to read your reviews, Sunny! :)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

LOL yeah that’s pretty much my reaction as well! As soon as I get over this cold, I’ll be working on the looks!

  • http://redhotjillypeppers.com/ Redhotjillypeppers

Tissé Gabrielle and the eye pencil look great !

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m pretty sure they can work together!

  • http://www.abeautifulzen.blogspot.ca/ jenn @Abeautifulzen

i’m glad they reformulated. i keep hearing people gripe about the mineral shadows from chanel saying they aren’t that pigmented so i’ve always hesitated to pick one up (yet while still being drawn to swatch them obsessively in stores). btw are you going to test out their new double ended liquid lipsticks? in particular i want to know if they’re really smudge proof/long lasting (even when kissing….go kiss someone to test that out for me please and thank you hahaha)

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Jenn, haha I’d love to do that test for you, but we don’t get those here at all! I have looked around, and apparently they just aren’t available here! I’m hoping they will at some point. Not too sure why Chanel chose not to release them here.

      • http://www.abeautifulzen.blogspot.ca/ jenn @Abeautifulzen

damn lol. i was really hoping you would test them out.

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m hoping they’ll eventually become available here. I’ve heard good things about them. While it’s probably not a formula I can normally be bothered with, I bet it’s great for the big day!

  • http://www.hellojaa.com/ Jaa

I’m loving the look of Tissé Gabrielle as well! Yay to the new formula but boo to you being sick! :( Feel better soon!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Thanks, Jaa! I see progress but it’ll probably take some days for the skin around my nose to stop feeling so grazed LOL

  • Dominique33

I purchased Riviera which is truly amazing, so soft and classy. I love it even if the texure is not as pigmented as expected in my opinion. But all 8 quads are beautiful.

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh really? Do you think that one is less pigmented than the ones featured here? I find these pretty pigmented!

      • Dominique33

It’s more pastel but I love the new formula^^, today I purchased Tissé Vénitien, it’s simply gorgeous. I thought it would be more pigmented ( I am used to UD eyeshadows ) but the pigmentation is good overall, it’s a very pretty quad indeed, very subtle and Vénitien is beautiful. I will buy more Tissés for sure.

        • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Oh yeah Venitien is another one I’m looking forward to swatching! I think Tisse Rivoli has real potential. Once I finish working with these, I’ll check it out!

          • Dominique33

Yes Vénitien is truly gorgeous, all 8 are worth the splurge, Rivoli is very pretty too^^.

  • http://makeupmorsels.wordpress.com Makeup Morsels

Yay for a reformulation! So this is the new US version as well? Must go play with these in person soon, judging by your description and swatches they look promising. I love Tissé Cambon, so fun!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey MM, I THINK that’s the case, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see! They should be available in the US later this year from what I heard :)

  • Melanie

Thank you sm eager to seeo much for posting the INCI! I am eager to see Tissé Gabrielle. Any day now!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

You’re welcome, Melanie! I’ll try to work as fast as I can!

  • http://www.beautyaddiction1.blogspot.co.uk/ syrena85

Tisse Cambon are defo my favourite :-D If I will swatch them and shades will be as good as on your swatches then will take them :-D

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Haha I can’t wait to hear what you think about these! In any case, they are much more pigmented compared with the baked version we used to get.

  • Amy-Alice

Can I ask what the quality / shades are like in comparison with the naked palette of Rivoli?

    Thank you for lovely reviews!

    • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Hey Amy-Alice, quality-wise I just have to say the formulas are different. These are pigmented, but the finish is much more subdued. As for shade comparisons: the neutrals in these palettes don’t really have dupes in Naked or Naked 2. I hope this helps! If you have any more specific questions in mind, let me know :)
