I never “get” glittery liquid eyeliners. Actually, scratch that. It took me a while to figure out why I favor gel liners in general: I never got used to the evaporating sensation of liquid eyeliners on my skin. Then one day I saw this post on Makeupandbeautyblog (thanks, Karen!). I had this Rouge Bunny Rouge Tanzanite Essence Quartz Eyeliner lying around (gift with purchase from a previous order), so I thought I’d give the idea a go!
Rouge Bunny Rouge Devotion Ink Quartz Eyeliner is a line of sparkling liquid liners. Each contains 2,5 ml (0.08 oz) and goes for 28 euros. Do remember to shake it up and mix everything nicely before you pull the applicator out.
The applicator has decent yield for easy control, but not too soft or too scratchy. Tanzanite Essence is a medium blue with an insane amount of sparkle and a glazed finish. It does take a few seconds to dry, so don’t open your eyes too soon! The formula stays put on top of a gel liner the way I wore it, but it is not waterproof. After a few hours, I could see some stray sparkle in the undereye area, but that was about it.
This is how Tanzanite Essence swatches:
For the look, I used minimum eyeshadow with Rouge Bunny Rouge Bohemian Waxwing and Bobbi Brown Slate. I did my regular winged-out liner with Bobbi Brown Black Ink, before layering Tanzanite Essence in the middle. This is what I got:
Naturally, the only difference is with my monolid, the second I open my eyes, the pretty sparkling part just disappears…
But that doesn’t matter! At least when I blink, magic happens!
How do you use glittery liquid liners? Is there another trick I should try?
