Christmas crackers are a British tradition you don’t really see anywhere else (please correct me if I’m wrong), but I won’t pretend I don’t like the idea especially if we’re talking about pieces of miniature beauty bits popping out of them! If you have out-of-town guests at your Christmas dinner table, why not impress them with the *Jo Malone Christmas Cracker? With Blackberry & Bay Body & Hand Wash, Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème, and Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne, their stay will be even more pleasant!
I am pretty sure there is a clinical diagnosis for my miniature-and-set obsession disorder (you will see more proof of this in the near future), but would you look at these? Aren’t they adorable? You get 15 ml/0,5 oz of Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Body & Hand Wash, 15 ml/0,5 oz of Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème, and 9 ml/0.3 oz of Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne, which will probably last you a week or so (the fragrance will for sure outlast the others)!
Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Body & Hand Wash is gloriously juicy. It is supposed to evoke childhood berry-picking memories. I don’t actually have any berry-related childhood memories at all (mango and watermelon on the other hand, yes), but this is such a joyful scent that it’s impossible not to fall for it! It is sweet but not syrupily so, as the bay leaves in there keep it fresh. I might have to check out the cologne now!
Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème is impossibly peachy. The cream is light enough to be easy to work into the skin, but thick enough to be nourishing. The scent also lingers for several hours, so if you want to layer Jo Malone fragrances, this is a good place to start!
I saved the best for last with Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Cologne. You probably know that citrus scents usually leave me indifferent, but this one is so surprising that I have a lot of love for it! At first I wondered why Jo Malone included such a “masculine” scent in the cracker, since the other two items are rather juicy, sweet, and feminine. After layering them together (especially the cream), it all made sense!
Lime Basil & Mandarin opens with a pretty tart (but not sour or sharp) mandarin note. Soon you get the best part: basil. The combination is green, fresh, and almost a little spicy. I can see this working very well on men, but it is actually something I would wear! The fragrance dries down to amberwood, giving the fresh and spicy concoction some warmth.
Jo Malone colognes don’t always have great lasting power and sillage on me, and I was ready to bet Lime Basil & Mandarin would disappear into thin air way too soon. Fortunately, that is not the case! Lime Basil & Mandarin lasts for at least 8-9 hours on me with decent sillage. I love catching a whiff of it here and there. It becomes a little softer layered over Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème, but it remains a unisex fragrance with plenty of personality, so wear it with confidence!
Another note about layering: one of the possible layering combinations for Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt is Lime Basil & Mandarin. While I love them both, the combination didn’t work out too well for me. It just seems like the two never properly merged! If you have tried this combination, I’d love to hear what you think!
The holiday temptations are at an all-time high! I dare you to check out A Frosted Fantasy on the Jo Malone website. I literally had to force myself to look away so that I don’t end up putting everything on my wish list or worse still, buying all of it! How adorable is this Cologne Intense Collection, for example (yeah, I have a real thing for miniatures)?
