Is it just me, or does Green Iron sound like the name of a superhero? I mean, Green Arrow/Lantern and Iron Man? OK, maybe I am geeking out all by myself, but listen up, people: the new Giorgio Armani Eye Tint is pretty dope!
Giorgio Armani Eye Tint is a liquid shadow that comes in the same tube as their lip glosses, except the cap is silver. It touts 16 hours of fault-proof, smudge-free, and crease-free wear.
Out of the 12 shades in the line-up, I picked up Green Iron (6) to try. What can I say? This warm olive bronze had me at hello! This shade is a bit of a chameleon. The more I sheer it out, the more bronzy and less olive it becomes.
Theoretically speaking, you can apply straight from the applicator. However, I prefer to pick up some product with my pinky and start smoothing it out on my lids. The liquid dries fast, but remains blendable for a little bit longer. You should be able to blend it out before it sets, and once it does, it’s there to stay!
I have tested Green Iron out twice. The first time I tested it out without a primer. It did not crease over the 8 hours I wore it, but it did fade a little. However, for my oily monolids, that is pretty much the best case scenario. If you have normal/dry lids, you might not need a primer. The second time I layered a primer underneath, and it stayed 100% intact for 13 hours until I had to remove it. That’s some serious wear time!
Besides the amazing lasting power, what I like the most about Green Iron is the texture. Most cream shadows that do set tend to feel “hard” to the touch, but that is not the case with Green Iron. Instead, the layer of product is so thin that it is comfortable to wear. It does not pill up or look wrinkly at all.

As you will be able to see, the actual color on my eyes is between these two. Also, the finish is quite shimmery, but the shimmer is fine enough not to look over the top or produce fallout.
I pulled out some shades that I thought would be similar and did a little comparison for you. From left to right you see Giorgio Armani Green Iron Eye Tint, Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird Long-Lasting Eye Shadow, Benefit Skinny Jeans Creaseless Cream Shadow, Dior Millenium Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow, and Laura Mercier Khaki Caviar Stick:
I am pleased to say nothing comes close!
I did a super simple look by using Green Iron all over my lid, with a little matte shade on the outer corner, a bit of inner corner highlight, and a dark forest green shadow over the gel liner on my lower lash line:
I paired the look with some all-time favorites, including Estee Lauder Peach Passion Pure Color Blush and Guerlain Coque d’Or Rouge Automatique.
Here you see the look in context:
All in all, while I have heard different stories about the new Giorgio Armani Eye Tints, I am personally a fan! I would recommend it to people who aren’t afraid to sparkle and shine a little, although if you want more glitz and glam, maybe look into their Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow instead. I find the Eye Tint easier to work with, because there really is zero fallout!
What do you think? Will you be checking the Eye Tints out?
