Not only am I a self-proclaimed lipstick girl, I have a clear preference for old school lipsticks. I never got the whole jumbo pencil frenzy, and most glosses leave me indifferent. Nevertheless, there are exceptions. Today’s #5forFriday features 5 “none-lipsticks” I actually enjoy!
Dior Dior Addict Fluid Stick is an interesting formula that people seem to either love or hate. This hybrid lipstick has a lightweight texture that hugs the lips tightly. It packs a ton of pigment as well as hydration. In the meantime, it’s as glossy as can be! The newer shades seem a little less tacky in comparison with the original line-up (although it never bothered me anyways). I’d encourage you to have it applied at the counter and see how you feel!
It takes a lot for a gloss to impress me this much, but Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss made it. The formula packs as much pigment as the next lipstick, and the lasting power is sensational! I love all three shades I have a lot. I’ve heard that the punchier colors in the line-up perform better, so maybe start from there!
Seriously: the only thing I can fault these pencils for is the fact that they have to be sharpened. Other than that, they are awesome! I can’t say I have the best experience with the more toned-down Satin Lip Pencils (they tend to settle into lip lines), but Yu and Lodhi just make my heart sing. The Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are not for people who can’t commit to the shade because they mean business! NARS has several cult red lippie options, and Cruella is one of them. You have to try it on to know why!
I can’t make a nude lip work, so Curviest Caramel is as far as I can go. I have to admit it’s “the” chubby lip pencil that made me see the charm of this category of lippies. It’s so casual and effortless! I still haven’t tried a Chubby Stick, but Chubby Stick Intense seems more like my thing with the elevated level of color payoff.
5. Guerlain Envie Rouge G L’Extrait
By now I am pretty sure the Rouge G L’Extrait won’t be around for too much longer (no new shade has been added to the line-up since it made its debut almost 3 years ago), but I’ve got to say it’s an incredible liquid lipstick. I feel that while most companies have nailed lipstick formulas by now, liquid lipsticks are a totally different story. As a matter of fact, most of them don’t even get a passing grade from me. Rouge G L’Extrait is a wonderful exception. The only issue I have is after almost three years, it is drying out. I knew that liquid products have a shorter life span, but this still makes me a little sad. Fingers crossed Guerlain will make a new liquid lipstick soon!
How about you? Are you a jumbo pencil/liquid lipstick/hybrid lippie fan? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
