I can’t remember the last time Dior launched a new lipstick/lipgloss line without throwing in some Dior Vernis for good measure, and the recent Dior Addict Lipstick launch is no different. I have always been a fan of Dior Vernis, but I love *Smile and *Be Dior even more than usual. Let me tell you why!
True to the “shine, don’t be shy” slogan, both Smile and Be Dior have a different finish from all the other Dior Vernis I own. The grand majority of them have a crème finish with shimmer that is largely invisible in real life. These two on the other hand, are shimmery nail polishes done right. You get shimmer as well as a glossy finish, but it is still discreet and elegant. I highly recommend topping these up with Dior Gel Coat or at least a top coat to keep the glossiness going for as long as possible!
Dior Smile Dior Vernis (552) is a bright tangerine coral. The closest shade in my stash would be Chanel Mirabella Le Vernis, except Mirabella is more orange and the finishes are wildly different.
Be Dior is without a doubt the star of the show. I am pretty sure it has more fans than the other three shades put together. Are you even surprised? Both the lipstick and the nail polish are gorgeous!
Dior Be Dior Dior Vernis (892) is a purple plum. It is a little less shimmery than Smile, but the finish remains shiny and glossy. I’d like to believe this shade is more universally-flattering than Smile, plus it’s great for the season!
One more thing I really love about these is that the combination of the consistency and finish covers up the unevenness on my nails nicely. I can’t ask for more!
In other news… It has been confirmed that Dior Addict Extreme has been discontinued with no plan for reformulation. From what I gathered, the shades with a “Flash” finish (shimmer-free) in the new Dior Addict line-up are comparable. I will be looking into this and let you know!
Are these your shades? Also, have you had a favorite formula discontinued? I had never been around long enough to answer this question till now!
