With Dior Aurora and Turquoise Eyeliner, You Will Be Ready for the Promenade de la Croisette! Dior Croisette Summer 2012 Swatch, Review, FOTDs

Hey everyone,

Happy weekend! How is it for you so far? I am probably going to be really stuck with work (again), but I’ve got to show you the Dior Aurora Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette and Turquoise Diorshow Liner before I can start doing anything else. Seriously, they are that exciting!

Aurora and Turquoise are part of the Dior Croisette Collection for summer 2012. Croisette is a thoroughfare in Cannes (Promenade de la Croisette or Boulevard de la Croisette. The literal English translation would be little cross drive, though if you Google pictures you will see it is grand). This collection is indeed infused with colors that are inspired by the French Riviera, and today I am showing you the Aurora palette as well as Turquoise eyeliner!

Even before I saw Aurora in person, I knew it would be incredibly flattering on girls with warm skin tone. I had not previously owned any orange eyeshadows, but with this palette you can really incorporate orange with ease!

On the upper left corner, this palette is composed of a burnished orange-gold. It is high on the shimmer factor, but not at all frosty. The texture and color payoff are fantastic!

On the upper right corner, we have a medium brown. It is also very warm-toned. There is a soft sheen, and the texture/color payoff are equally excellent.

The color in the middle is the only cool-toned shade of this palette. It is a slightly frosty icy pink, perfect for highlighting those inner corners! The pigmentation of this shade isn’t as strong as the others, but for highlighting purposes I think it more than fits the bill.

On the lower right we see a peachy beige. It is very shimmery and somehow iridescent. The color payoff isn’t the best, but it is decent. It is a color I would use for a light wash of my inner half/third of the lids or inner corners, and again for this purpose it works very well.

Last but not least, we have an orange! It is somehow peachy on me and infused with golden shimmer. It also has a beautiful sheen, and the texture and color payoff are again out of this world!

The turquoise eyeliner turned out to be another must-have out of this collection. It is a beautiful turquoise with some silver sparkle. I’ll have to admit the texture is rather hard and dry, but the performance compensates for the texture! Even WITHOUT a primer, it stays on my lower lash line all day with no fading, budging, and smudging. It is the first eyeliner I have tried that can manage this level of performance! I have tried to layer it on top of a liquid eyeliner, and it held up perfectly well too.

What I really love about these two pieces is that besides the quality and the fact that they work very well on those with warm skin tone (though I would say Turquoise would work very well on virtually anybody), you really only need these to go on holiday. With Aurora, you can create very neutral looks as well as a much more dramatic, colorful one. I did two to show you how versatile it is. Are you ready to see them?

To lounge on the beach or beside the pool during daytime, I would go for a more neutral look. Here I used the peachy-beige on the inner half, the gold on the outer, the icy pink for inner corner highlight, and the turquoise eyeliner on my lower lash line. Another obvious option is to use the brown for the outer half. That way it would be very natural, as if your eyes were born with all that amazing dimension!

For some nighttime glamour (say you met a Ryan Gosling lookalike lounging beside the pool and are meeting him for a drink… Hey, a girl can dream, right?), I used the gold for the inner half, orange on the outer half, and the brown for my outer v. I also added a bit of the brown to my lower lash line.

Who’s ready for a lot of summer fun with these? I know I am!

For that effortless great skin and sun protection, may I suggest Dior Hydra Life BB Cream? The lip products showed here are Guerlain Shine Automatique, which I will soon review for you so stay tuned!

What do you think about the collection? Anything you would like to grab? Would you be interested in checking out Aurora and Turquoise in person?

Sunny, your beauty culture translator xx

PS: Stay tuned for the giveaway! A little birdie told me these might be included!

those colours look very pretty on you :) i’m probably way too pale to pull them off! x

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks hon! You should check out Swimming Pool though, another limited edition eyeshadow palette in this collection. I think it’ll work FANTASTIC for those with fairer/cooler skin tone. On the other hand it’s NOT something I’ll be able to pull off! xx

Oh wow, I loooove the new pictures Sunny! They really are amazingly beautiful!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Teri! I’m still getting to know it, so I very often end up with overexposed pictures and whatnot. But hopefully I’ll figure it all out soon! xx

  • http://www.lenallure.com Lena

what an exotic beauty you are wearing these colors!! ;D
i think i’d pass the quint since it is too warm for my coloring but actually the bright liner would make everything right! hmmmmm
i’ve always loved Dior makeup! nice summer collection. 😉

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

      Thanks so much Lena!

The liner is GREAT. I wish it were a little softer, but the fact is it hangs on like a trooper! Aurora is my first Dior quint, but I can really see why some people are real fans!

  • http://www.makeupwithdrawal.com Mimi

Oh gosh! I absolutely LOVE that quint, the orange is gorgeous. I love how it looks on you too, exotic and warm!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Yay, thanks Mimi! That quint will really work for those with warm skin tone. You should swatch it! xx

  • naomihing

Totally love it! I have to try pairing turquoise with orange! Love

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Naomi! I normally don’t pair color with colors, but I really think the quint and eyeliner belong together!

  • http://twitter.com/DianaAPBL Diana F. (@DianaAPBL)

I love that look! I actually made the same look with the palette, lol. And the pairing with the turquoise is amazing!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Diana! I can’t wait to see how it looks on you! The turquoise really makes this interesting palette another 100 times more interesting, don’t you think? 😉

Really like the 2nd last one.
Getting the hang of the camera!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Oh thanks so much Phil! Actually my bestie took this bunch of photos (of me). I’m a lot more relaxed around her than standing in front of the tripod by myself. Still have to learn how to do this on my own properly when my remote arrives :)

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Amy! It’s a color that I wasn’t sure would work for me, but I guess pairing them with the right things is the key! xx

      • http://sugarmitten.wordpress.com sugarmitten

I love the color! It looks great on you!

        • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Amy! I like how Dior put out 2 palettes though. Swimming Pool will work well on those with cooler skin tone (and fairer) so everybody gets something!

  • http://jadeinthepalace.blogspot.com pamela at jadeinthepalace

oh I love your blue earrings ;D
btw the eyeshadow color looks good on you!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Pamela :) The blue earrings are my color experiment, and I’m glad it turned out fine hehe

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

Beautiful look! Love the otherwise neutral (yet gorgeous) shadows on the eyes with the pop of turquoise on the bottom. I’ve been torn about whether or not the get the liner, but now I think I have to have it!!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Thanks Becca! The liner is a genius addition to this collection in my opinion. It works well with BOTH palettes, across all skin tone, and it REALLY hangs on! The swatch I did on the back of my hand yesterday stayed there for HOURS, after multiple hand-washing session with warm water and soap!

      • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

oooh, good to know that it stays put so well! I was honestly just going to buy it because it looked so pretty on you. 😛 Nice to know it won’t smudge on my oily eyelids

        • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Hey Becca! My eyelids are normal to oily, but this one does stay for me even without a primer, something I’ve NEVER experienced before!

  • berrytravels

Ah I love the Dior palatte! But I might be too tanned to pull off those colours. =(

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Hey Celeste, I don’t think you are! You should swatch the colors just to see. I get a lot more tanned in summer too (provided we actually get a good one here, or I go on enough holiday somewhere sunny), but I don’t think this will stop working for me!

  • http://mybeautyhoard.blogspot.com/ mjacqueline

I have my eye on the same palette too! I love what you did with it.

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

You should really check it out Jacqueline! For those with warm skin tone this palette is a no-brainer!

  • http://www.peggytimmermans.be/blog Peggy Timmermans Visagie

I like both items! They combine really well too!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

I think Turquoise is really THE item in this collection that will bring the eye look together!

  • http://www.rinnysbeautydiary.com Rinny

I love the colors on you! I agree that this palette looks especially flattering on those with a warmer or tanned complexion. The colors are perfect for summer :)

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Hey Rinny, this palette is really a no-brainer for those with warm undertone! I think I’m willing to try more orange eyeshadows now :)

  • http://myhighestself.wordpress.com Tina B

I’m actually loving that eyeliner! Not something I would normally be drawn to but it looks super pretty.

  • Meg Lin

Beautiful Sunny, can you tell me what lipstick you’re wearing in the top photo of your Dior Croisette Summer 2012 blog, wearing the long turquoise earrings. I like that shade and have similar (Asian) skin tone as you. Thanks!

  • lisa

Hi Sunny, glad i found your blog! Have you seen Nars Ramatuelle eyeshadow trio? Do the beige-peach and orange shades in the Dior palette look same/ similar to the ones with Nars? How would you compare their quality? Thanks!

    • http://mostlysunnybunny.wordpress.com Sunny

Hey Lisa, it’s so cool that you found me! I haven’t seen the NARS Ramatuelle trio. I’ve heard great things about it, but from the swatches I’ve seen (we don’t have NARS counter here so I couldn’t swatch it in person) the colors don’t look the same. The orange in Aurora is definitely a lot more vibrant and bold, and the beige has less of a metallic sheen. I think ultimately it comes down to what you prefer. I’m very impressed with the quality of this palette, and from what I can see so are most people! Hope this helps :)
